Ahh the 1998 rendition of Godzilla. Much better than the stop-motion ones of the 70's!

    • The girl Godzilla you mean

    • +6

of course the 1998 Godzilla is infamous for being the worst Godzilla movie of all time.

      • -1

haven't seen the new one just yet, but having Bryan Cranston and wasting him seems like it will take over that honour eventually

    • I liked it way more than the 2014 version. And you don't have to wait an hour and a half till you see him either. Only thing I didn't like was the preachiness of blaming Godzilla on French nuclear testing in French Polynesia… But that way we get Jean Reno. Plus, half the cast of the Simpsons is in it. Sorry, watched it yesterday, feeling nostalgic.

      • But waiting for Godzilla and a preachy story is what makes a Godzilla movie.

Derp side of the moon!, who spends money to see it? got it with my nexus tablet.

  • thanks, but don't need it.

    • +1

But it's kind of a big deal.

      • big deal waste of money it is. what are you got too much money to spend?

        • I only bought Godzilla transformers and anchorman lol, dont have that much money after all Im a bargain hunter

Transformers is getting lame, same shit different setting

    • But.. Optimus prime on a dinosaur.

      • +1

This is the old 2011 Transformers movie.

    • +2

      Megan Fox or bust!

      Oh wait…

The majority of new "Blockbuster" movies are over-hyped and underwhelming.

Movies such as Donnie Darko, Napoleon Dynamite, Reign Over Me, Moon (2009), Drive (2011) and Silver Linings Playbook were a million times better than Gravity, Transformers, X-Men etc. etc.

Indy movies and anything made before the turn of century also beats any new mind-numbing "Blockbuster" as well.

      • +1

I agree gravity was bad i still havent finished the movie

      • +2

I thought X-Men was the best one yet?!

      • GRAVITY SPOILERS

Gravity is a much better film if you look at it the same way I did:

She doesn't wake up and keep going, She dies when Clooney "comes back", and the rest of the movie is in her head (TAXI DRIVER SPOILERS), just like the end of Taxi Driver.

  • I remember getting this for $5 when DSE were clearing out there blurays :P

    • +3

      Where blurays?

  • just double check since I never own bluray player before.
Which bluray player that you use can play multi region?

    • +1

Soniq b100, soniq b501, Toshiba (google for it)

oppo players, dune w/added drive (maybe?), popcorn hour w/added drive

      EDIT:

I own a Soniq b100, a soniq b501, and an American purchased Panasonic player (it's 110-240V so I just had to buy a new power cable from Jaycar, or use an adapter).

I never use the panasonic, the Soniqs get used heaps.

      • Thanks Brake, are you happy with Soniq brand? are they reliable?

I google it before and found toshiba but I think they are not selling that model anymore "Toshiba BDX3200KY 3D"

        • Sorry it's not the b501 that is region switchable, its another model, I've had a brain fart, it's the b100 and the b302. B302 being an older model.

Yep I love the Soniqs, region switchable Blu-ray, media centre (file support), supports some subtitle files (srt and maybe idx), the b100 is better.

The b100 browses through hard drives quicker, remote is better, seems to support more media files, but has handshake issues with my other equipment(i have tried 4 of them serious), so you need to turn on/off your components in a particular order.

The b302 is slower to browse through hard drives (long load time), remote sucks, seems to support less files, but does not have handshake issues.

You wont find a b302 anymore, you MIGHT find a b100 if you're lucky. It will probably be a display model with no remote, the soniq site lists the remote for $20, and the cheapest I've seen a b100 for (couple months ago) was like $45… but you'd better be quick and call JB hifi and tell them to search other stores.

        • Thanks Brake.
Looks like $54+$12=$66 incl delivery from Soniq website.

Is this B100 play 3D bluray? I don't think it is but correct me if I am wrong. Prefer to have 3D bluray, I guess.

        • @surat:

Oh shit! I didn't know they still had them available on the Soniq site. Thanks man I'm going to order another one!

          Nah it's not 3D.

Not sure if you know but, it's not region free, but region switchable. you have to enter a code in each time you want to change regions, but it remembers the region you're on until you change it:

          Turn On Unit
          Eject Tray
          hit Setup
          Press 8520
          Region 0 (zero) – DVD
          Region 1 (one) – Blu-ray
          Ok
          Hit setup Again

        • Thanks just bought a Soniq player… need a replacement for my LG one which is on its last legs… region sqitchable will be a bonus for all the USA steelbooks I have :)

        • @Smulder:
Just a note you may want to do some googling before doing any firmware updates pretty sure I recently read that the latest firmware update for the B100 knocks out the region switching capabilities

        • @melmac77:

What? That's terrible. Good luck getting Soniq to tell you what the firmware version is too…

        • @brake: Can't remember why I was reading that I don't own a Soniq(I have a toshi) I likely read it in a whirlpool thread if you want to pin it down

UK blu-rays are region B, the same as Australia, so no need for a multi-region blu-ray player for Zavvi releases.
