This is NOT the basic "Essential" edition of the WD MyBook external 3.5" HDD.
This is the unit with eSATA and Firewire, which of course are MUCH faster interfaces for those that have a suitably equipped Desk/Laptop.
I've a WD MyBook 1TB "Essential" myself, and have found USB to be painfully slow when moving the large amounts of data that drives of this capacity can handle.
I saw this in a DSE flyer about a week ago,, but had been too lazy to post it up until now.
This is as good as the best deal found by a Static Ice search, but of course DSE are a national chain with hundreds of shop fronts across the country.
The DSE free shipping offer applies to this deal.
NB, OW have matched DSE's price at $187 also… (back up to $199 at OW)
OW also have a "free delivery" policy to (most) capital cities, but, a $4.95 "handling fee" is still applied.
Edit - The DSE web page has dropped the expiry date for this deal (was 31/8), and now have it listed as a "HOT DEAL - Valid for a limited time only."
OW have put their listed price back up to $199,, so the price-match-minus-5% option now applies. ;)
FYI: OW has this same price so don't think it's really that bargain but free postage is a bonus.
