Shame that there isn't a decent deal on the M50 or M50x on eBay with the 15% off that hasn't been cheaper in the past.

    • Bought the ATH-M50X-BL for $148.71 delivered.
Maybe not the cheapest ever, but seemed like an ok deal.

  • This or M50s?

    • Well what sound profile are you looking for?

Do you know whether you want open or closed sets?

      Do you like bass/mids/treble?

      Do you want portability?

      Do you have an amp?

Seriously, too many questions, do you own research via headfi.org or youtube reviews.

Don't feel obligated to buy from ebay, all these headphones can be found for the same price from Amazon.jp and using Tenso.

if you are a bass head and into electronic, disco or dance music, better not get this one. But if you are into classical music, acoustic, vocals and soundstage, these are great to have one.

      This, M50's are overrated. Momentums > M50

      • overrated is an understatement for what the m50 is.

  • 900 or 700 closed or open for gaming?

    • Either and open.

Open will not block out your surroundings, wife, kids etc. but will give better distance sound for gaming. I don't know how it does it, but things that are far away, sound further away, not just quieter, but at a distance. I went from Turtle Beach Z6A (surround) and the AD900x sound much better even though they are only stereo.

Most reviews say AD700x for gaming as it has less bass, but I wanted them for music too so apparently the AD900x have a little more bass.

Also, get a sound card :-)

      • Thanks, I rather get them with more bass I can dial it down anyway. And I have a decent sound card so Thats not a problem. Thanks

  • Don't buy closed unless you want bass and/or isolation.

I own AD900X, AD900 and a pair of A900X sit dormant at work, next to me (someone else's) and the only time I have ever used them is when I wanted very loud music (and to no longer listen to complaints about people hearing it).

Sound stage is not worth losing (assuming you've grown out of the necessity for all music sources to have heavy bass).

    • What kind of job do you have that you're allowed to have headphones and music on?

  • Nice find Bickel72. You are an audiophile
