$7 off? Big deal! Who cares?!? Never even heard of this brand. 5in screen is not a tablet. Specs look very average and device looks ugly and huge.

Dear mattlol. If you never heard of such devices I can tell a few words.
They are designed for people, who like playing Android games or (especially) emulate gaming consoles of past years, such as Nintendo, Sega, Play Station 1 and even PSP. They have additional keys and joysticks as well as different consoles emulators installed to make your gaming experience better, you don't need to connect any wi-fi/bluetooth ones. There also exist 7" models but many people interested in these devices find such 5" sized being the most comfortable for leisure gaming. This model has 3G module in addition.
You can read more information about such and similar devices at http://boards.dingoonity.org/ in different threads under "Android Devices".
And speaking about the discount amount, it's not very big, but after you apply it, you get the best price among online shops you can get today.
If you are not interested in this device – kindly sorry for bothering you. But I believe some people can find this deal interesting.
    Regards.

  • Doesn't look too bad. I can see it can play NDS emulator fairly well and probably Mupen 64 and simple 2d PSP games.

Though I'd much rather just invest in a portable BT controller and playing it on more decent smartphone. The JXD series all seem to have terrible Wifi reception problems.

  • I was looking at buying a similar JXD about 6 months ago (they've released a few models now) because I wanted a device that could play android games and retro classics with dedicated buttons. I decided against it after the problems i read people were having with keymapping, firmware issues, poor battery life etc.

Unless the company who manufactures these has fixed preexisting issues - I personally don't think they are worth the asking price.

In my opinion, such a device should be good to go the moment I've charged it. Shouldn't be left to the consumer to flash the firmware (risk bricking it) and possibly have to open the device to make it usable.

    • Yes, unfortunately there happen software or hardware issues with these devices, but most of them can be solved. If you are a usual person, not concentrated on firmwares and other technical stuff, you may not experience or notice any discomfort using these devices.
Personally I bought iPega PG9700 and am fully satisfied with it, never reflashed it. You can consider buying such devices as a present for children, my two sons love it, too. I can give a link to my review of it http://mysku.ru/blog/china-stores/26416.html (but it's in Russian, my native language, so you may google-translate the article).
And on the other hand some tech addicts just like to play with firmwares and inner stuff, making some improvements and sharing them with others)
