Get a copy of your credit report from Veda and see what's going on. Yes if you've been declined for credit card & postpaid phone it will affect your home loan chances.

    • so how can i get it fixed.. i ordered a copy yesterday

      • Have you got a few credit cards? Have you applied for a few in the past few years to take advantage of introductory offers. If so, this could be what is impacting you. I have the same problem and I even own my own house (I owe $10 on it!) with no mortgage. But its OK for me as I don't really need credit.
When you get the Veda report check if there are any closed credit cards showing up as active and sort them out first. Then you can sort out the cards you want to keep and work out what to do with those.

  • How many credit cards have you applied for lately to get frequent flyer points?

Sounds like you need to check your credit report ASAP (from both Dunn and Bradstreet and Veda). There's multiple reasons why your credit can go to crap without you doing anything such as the credit agencies mixing you with another person (it happens quite a lot) who has crap credit or identity theft. With the latter people often don't find out until something like this happens. The only way to know for sure is to check your report and verify if there is anything on there that shouldn't be.

You can also try https://www.getcreditscore.com.au/ to find out your credit score.
This site was only launched a few weeks ago.

    • Tried it comes up as sorry we couldnt match your details.

      • That could be the reason. You have no credit history.

        • Vodafone wouldn't reject simply for lack of credit history though.

      • I had a similar problem, but when I put my previous address on there as well, the credit score result came up. Try that?

Thanks for the website deal88, read the article on The Age but forgot to save it.

  • When you say credit card declined, do you mean application, or do you mean a transaction????

  • Computer says no.

  • Reminds me of one of my favourite quotes from the Simpsons, regarding homer's purchase of a RV on finance.

Homer: Is that a good siren? Am I approved?
Bob: You ever known a siren to be good? (Chuckles) No, Mr. Simpson, it's not. It's a bad siren. That's the computer in case I went blind, telling me, "Sell the vehicle to this fella, and you're outta business." That's what the siren says.
