  • This is UNBELIEVABLE. Unprecedented.

    • i know right? now if they could incorporate iCloud passwords as well

Then we'd just need to hack 1passsword to get to all your data!

"Steal your personal details and documents with this one easy password

      Celebrities hate him!"

      • 1password doesn't store your data on any servers, it sits locally on your machine. you can chose to stick the password vault on your dropbox though.

        • So if you're local machine is compromised, you're basically screwed?

        • @massafiri:
no it's locked with the 1 password you use to keep it safe. hence the name "1password".

maybe go read what the product does?

  • EXCELLENT offer… 1Password is an absolutely top app. Of course you do have to have the desktop app for this to be useful, as it can't save passwords automatically from iOS… and the desktop app is not free. However, plenty of people (myself included) have paid for both the desktop app and the iOS app, so don't assume this is one of those 'FREE FREE FREE iOS app… coughdepends-on-another-costly-app' type scams.

    • I've been using 1Password for ages and always saved passwords from IOS (and also from Android) and synced them via dropbox. Never used the desktop app.

      • What I mean is that there's currently no iOS browser integration, so you have to manually put passwords into 1Password on iOS, which is not a very likely use-case scenario for most people.

  • Are they going freemium like the Android Version? http://blog.agilebits.com/2014/08/19/1password-4-1-for-andro…

  • Damn… Paid a 'sale' price for this app about 4 weeks ago, $12!

  • Thanks OP! got this one last time around.

also noticed the pwsafe for IOS is also free and compatible with your windows/mac password safe program

    • +1

pwsafe is not free for IOS. Can you add the link?

      • apologies - you are right.. it shows without any value in my iTunes because I have purchased it in the past!

  • Perfect, Only upgraded to 1Password4 a week ago and didn't get the iOS App yet.

  • Finally might convince me to move from KeePass…

  • I bought this about 6 months ago. This is the best password manager out there.

    • +2

Who cares if the NSA has your passwords,
Honestly there are 1,000's of ways for them to get your information, a password to a forum you use is the least of their problems :)

      • +7

Thankyou for the fast response 'Special Agent Bohdans'. We will continue to supply our data to your servers since you cleared that up. ;-)

        • Honestly though, Google and Facebook have more information about you than you would want to admit, and people have no issue handing that over.
If your really worried using 2 factor authentication is the way to go. If your on iOS download "OTP Auth" its free and works with Google Accounts, LastPass, github, Microsoft Accounts and much more. I have it set up on my iPhone. If I want to log in to one of those sites I need my Password + the One-Time-Password from my iPhone that changes every 30 secs.

        • @bohdans: Yes fellow Citizens, it is perfectly save to use this app to store all your most secret information, including any incriminating evidence which you may have to your accounts which uses such passwords.

We are absolutely not government agents and we also like to do what you lowly normal peasants, I mean what us normal peasants do, all day. And that is not to take private information from people.

        • +2

@morespamforya: Its up to the individual,
I use LastPass to store my passwords, and use 2 factor wherever I can, so even with a password someone can't log into my account.
Sites like online banking provide a hardware device or SMS so even with the password people can't get in. Facebook has a code generator so you need password + facebook code to get in. Google has Google Authenticator so you need a password and OTP to log into your account. I could go on.
The point of this I would rather have a 16 character password like "kaZ4oXgT&%d6AI31" stored in 1Password with a OTP password on my iPhone over remembering a password like "SOsName99" and reusing it on every site.
At the end of the day use the security that works for you :) and options like keepass allow you to store your password out of the cloud, but that means its harder to keep all your passwords in sync across devices.
It's always a security vs usability argument.

        • +1

So technically what your telling me is that my normal OzBargain password of '1234' can be managed much easier?

    • Are you seriously that stupid or are you just pretending to get reactions?

The password vault is stored on your computer or iOS device. You can sync to a cloud server if you like as well, but it is encrypted.

      • 'Special Agent Changa' enters the discussion with an angry response. (Standard NSA protocol when they start losing control of the 'civilians'). Soon a black helicopter will hover above my house. ;-)

        • How do we know that you're not in fact the NSA Special Agent here, trying to sound like an obvious troll so we then relax and become dismissive of security concerns? Or just trying to discourage us from using a password manager, so we're exposed?

        • Busted by steve-de-savvy! Indeed you ARE Steve…the Savvy! ;-)

  • Been looking at this for a while… the cost was putting me off.

    Thanks OP!

  • $64.99 for the desktop app. I'll stick with the iOS version for now. Great app!

  • +2

    Hackable?

  • +2

Thanks OP! Been using the desktop app for around a year. Been waiting for a price drop.

  • Was just going to buy this! Thanks OP!

  • Poor me..just bought before 1 week ago. Don't wait get it for free now…

  • shows me 9.99$ in iTunes …although on website it shows it free…
edit: my bad ,it was showing me US store app..

  • thanks OP, had to switch my itunes account from US app store to Australian app store to purchase for free; otherwise was coming up at $9.99

  • +1

Says In-App Purchases. Anyone know what that may be? I already bought the app before, so not sure if this is new.

    • curious about this too

  • Please advise if there is way to buy this app without switching on cellular data for App Store on iPhone. In Android or Windows, I can purchase and push the app to mobile and when the phone connects to WiFi the app is downloaded.

    • i think you can purchase it on iTunes on PC and download it to phone whenever you like.

      • +1

Thanks Sharp. But without iTunes (at work) I understand it will be impossible to purchase app.
Love the flexibility of Android on play store.

        • +1

You could pause the download immediately after purchasing it then resume at your leisure … how big a download can it be that you don't have enough data?

  • Excellent timing, I use this and I was about to gift it to my dad who always forgets his passwords. Now I get to save $12! Thanks OP!

  • Oh damn…It's so good that I had to buy it full price a few months ago

  • Are they releasing 2Password?

  • Wow, unbelievable, i have bookmarked this app for quite some time waiting for it to have a sale or something… and now it's FREE! Thank you OzBargain!

  • Thanks OP, nice find, used it for a while on computers, nice software!

    • noticed a few people here have been using it on PC (or Mac). Did your guys buy it at full price as $49.90 (single use licence) is rather expensive?

      • Bought it in family license bundle(Mac+PC) back in June, paid US$49.99, can't remember it's on special or not, been using it for few years, it's a must have password software for me at work & home, both on computers & iOS devices, save me a lot of hassles anyway.

        • thx. Maybe wait until they have some special.

  • Been using version 3 for ages (got that one free too) so this is a nice upgrade.
I assuming version 5 is due for release soon with ios 8.

  • Do u have to use their browser to use the 1 password? Can I use safari instead in ios?

  • Anyone know of an alternative coupon providing better discount than "MacPowerUsers" for the Windows version?

The above coupon takes price down to $39.99

  • If need to change handset, is it possible to take backup with iTunes and copy on new handset…?

    • That is correct. But only this app. All other data eg. contacts, photos etc will be lost forever.

  • Apparently its a pricing error

"In a now deleted tweet, AgileBits stated that the app is being offered for free due to an App Store error, and will go back to regular price once iOS 8 is released tomorrow."

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1780674

  • Thanks OP :)

In case anybody was wondering, this can be downloaded for free on an iPad aswell as i was curious, so i checked & it is free , so ive got it on my iPhone & iPad aswell. Hope that helps.

  • +1

if this was indeed a pricing error, it would be the first time my procrastination ever paid off.

Still not sure why I would use this over Lastpass?

Lastpass has an iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry app.

Lastpass also has support for OS X, Windows and Linux.

    Integrates into all browsers.

    Allows 2 factor authentication.

And only costs $12 for the premium subscription.

I do like the talk of 1password releasing an extension for iOS 8.

But seems Lastpass is doing that too.

  • With the whole drama surrounding the NSA and the extent of their practises, I prefer to only trust open sourced software to manage my passwords. Thus, Keepass for me.

    • As others have said before there is more information about 'People' being used every second by the likes of Yahoo, Google, Microsoft..etc..etc than NSA is ever going to use. Just my thoughts. Hopefully NSA has a full back up of my system in case it ever crashes and my backups fail:)

  • Fantastic deal! I use 1Password on OS X and iOS - now the Mrs' phone doesn't have to have my copy installed. Winner!

    • +1

Yes, however as we downloaded this app before iOS 8 and the new 1Password app update, we have the Pro features. Winning!

      • if users downloaded the app yesterday using itunes on computer, can they get the pro features for free?

        • Not sure.

        • yes, as long as you're updating from version 4.

  • RoboForm is still the best app in this category.

    • does it use touch id on the 5s to enter passwords?
