Pabst Blue Ribbon Premium Lager Cans 473ml $42.99 Per Case 24 @ Dan Murphy's

310

Normally around $50.00 per box, or you can buy 2 for $70.00, I got Introduced to this beer a short time back, Love it, (as a long time fosters drinker (which is no longer available) this one certainly fills the void left behind.

Not a bad deal. I remember that glorious day when they were $19.99 a case. Why oh why didn't I buy five cases instead of one!?

  • +1

2 for $70, I gotta get me some of these, thanks OP!

    • OP should change the title to this as 11.352 lts of beer for $35, that's a better bargain

Not sure being a long time Fosters drinker is much of a recommendation? :-)

    • I was wondering why you'd even want to admit to being a long time Foster drinker..lol ;)

Like a lot of South Park, that clip contained a grain of the truth (at the time, at least).

When I was in the US around 10 years ago, Pabst Blue Ribbon was like the super-cheapass rednecks-and-starving-students-drink-this-at-house-parties kind of beer. I actually have a treasured photo of myself (as the token Aussie at the party) and 2 uni student dudes shotgunning pint cans of this stuff. Ahh, memories.

It was ok in that scenario but nothing special otherwise - dunno what it's like these days.

      • +5

It was that way 30 years ago as well. It is hilarious to see people I assume are normal getting excited about such a bogan brew.

        • +1

Can confirm it's still primarily a student and redneck brew, as personally witnessed from my last trip there in July.

@turna: It's got hipster cred too, because of how cheap it is, sorta like Export/West End/Melbourne Bitter here.

        • @turna: So, it's just like Fosters was, eh? :-)

    • Thanks Jekyll, Gold…

  • +4

Obviously a Fosters drinker would be a beer connesoir…

    • +6

      "connesoir" = French for "bitch-evening"?

  • Thanks heaps op this will be excellent for my trip to moreton island.

I picked up a case of these for $15.99 from Dan Murphys Macarthur Square on Saturday.
They were end of bin and had an expiry of a week but for $16 they were fine

    • OH MY GOD DO YOU KNOW IF THEY MIGHT STILL HAVE ANY!?

  • Picked up 2 cartons for my hipster party on the weekend! the almost 24 lts of beer will go down a treat

    • +11

Fat lot of good it will do there. Hipsters only drink yerba mate and the fermented juice of the organic yeti's breast.

      • +3

Not true - There's also the single origin sun touched oven roasted espresso from the Sof Omar cave regions in Ethopia served with GM Free-Rainforest alliance soy

  • Cheers.

    Scored 2 slabs

  • Bought a few large (HUGE!) cans of this when I was in the US recently to try they were like $1.50 a can not fantastic beer but not bad especially for the price, cheap to get drunk on I guess….sucks we don't have Dan's in Tassie :(

    • You're right we don't have a Dan's but have you tried Steve's Liquor? They are selling a slab of Primas 500ml cans (24)…Easy to drink! Not exactly the same price as this but I think closer to $50 but eh.

  • My wife is headed away this weekend, so I was looking for something to drink with a few mates and at $70 for 2 cartons, it's a winner. Not too many left at my local Dan's though.

    Frank Booth's favourite beer!!

(I don't think I'm allowed to post the URL..)

    • +2

The man sure hates heineken though, just ask Jeffrey Beaumont

    • +1

Yes! I was hoping I wasn't the only one who immediately thinks of Dennis Hopper's awesome Frank Booth in Blue Velvet

"Heineken! XXXX that XXXX. Pabst Blue Ribbon!"

  • Bought 2.

  • I was looking at the pricing for these a couple of weeks ago (when it was $50 a case) and I couldn't figure out why a 6 pack was such a good deal ($13 for 6 vs. $50 for 24). Anyway, I'm guessing Dan figured out a case was too expensive and set $43 as the new price.

    • I got a feeling that is it close to or past use by date, for what that is worth. Winemarket have been trying to sell it, but they are noting that it has a best before date of 15/09/14.

      I wish I had a Dan Murphy's closer honestly.

      • +1

My case that i picked up fir $15.95 had a best before date of 15/09/2014

        • $15.95? Nice! Where and when was that?

        • +1

          @Mobe1969:

Dan Murphys Macarthur Square Saturday just gone

      • Yeah, maybe you're right. I just thought it was interesting that Oettinger 500mL cans (equivalent cheapocity) were $15 for 6 or $40 for 24 whereas PBR was $13 for 6 or $50 for 24. But who knows how these things are decided?

      • +1

I got a 6er of it few weeks ago and best before was December.
Ordered the 2 slabs hopefully they are the same date

    People drink this shit?

    • +9

No, we are all just coming to this page for the same reason as you. We see a listing for something we don't like, and then feel compelled to view the post, and then feel even more compelled to add a post. We are just cyber-trolls.

"Heineken? (profanity) that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon"

  • Got hooked on this earlier in the year for $20 a case. $35 a case's not bad. Time to get some more for summer. Thanks Polak

Pleasantly surprised at the lack of people calling this cats piss while proclaiming corona is the greatest beer ever.

    • as cat piss goes corona is one of the best… hehe

Fosters discontinued?! Are you sure? It's still listed on Carlton's webpage: http://cub.com.au/beer/#fosters-lager

For the record, it's not my favourite but I like it as a light summertime beer. It's better than VB whose popularity is based on continuous advertising at sporting events and elsewhere. (Grabs flame retardent suit and ducks.)

  • I'm white trash and I'm in trouble.

  • for people that are wanting a change from Hammer n Tongs 30 for $30

I got a couple of cartons from DM at woollongabba. I dont know I think its a pretty good brew man. Its not for the hoppy home brew drinker, but it sure goes down easy. One of my cartons was October BB date the other November. There was some more floating around there. Its a clean taste thats for sure. I wonder though for an early october carton it might not be cheap enough? Teh price is really what the fresh batches should be.

Been one of my better buys from these DM deals thats for sure. Not as good as the last $35 24x500 stella deal.

Still got some oettinger there from last buy that stuff just wasnt for me.

Basically this youtube ad says it all…

These appear to be having a looming best before date (the ones I bought at Richmond were dated best before 6/10, and there were some dated 27/8!).

Having said that, got through 2 of my 48 cans tonight because it's very easy to drink…

  • In what universe is PBR 'premium'? It's dirt cheap, piss-tier beer.

  • They were ~$30 last year. I swear. Not great flavour or anything. But its nice enough.
