  • got one a few months ago from djs, have to upvote any deals for this speaker! lol

    • Yeap I will be picking up one myself this weekend.

  • one of the best portable speakers and i have 3 different ones

  • Good brand I've used their earphones before

    • What happened to Buy Other Sound Equipment?

      • That was almost always people who instead of buying a Bose home theatre set with tiny cube satellite speakers would rather spend the same amount of money on a whatever they favoured (usually pre-amp,power-amp, full tower speakers) because that would sound better. Which it would, but that's not why you buy Bose. A big setup is more complex to setup and use, and it's a lot more intrusive in a lounge room. Bose stuff hides away.

Bose is a bit like Apple. You pay a premium for brand, ease-of-use, and design. Not always top spec.

Most Bose stuff is perfectly servicable. Some of it is very impressive - like the noise-cancelling headphones and this tiny thing which really does sound better than any portable speaker the same size.

I can't think of any of their products that are actually bad, just sometimes expensive for what it is.

  • can anyone tell me if it supports switching between multiple devices - i have a samsung speaker and if one device is connected or has recently been connected, it 'blocks' any new (already paired) devices connecting.

    • just did a test now. I've been playing it in the garage all day with an iphone and just now I connected to my windows phone and I did have to press the bluetooth button on top of the speaker to get it to connect. You can clear the bluetooth connections by holding the same button down for ten seconds or something (I may have done this since the last time I used it on the windows phone, come to think about it).
Can't say enough about this speaker, got it last year for xmas and have it on when we're in the pool or out in the yard and I sometimes think it's too loud for the neighbours.
Test 2, turned bluetooth off on the windows phone, started up the iphone again and didn't need to touch the speaker to get it to connect, just opened bluetooth and clicked connect from the iphone.
To double check I did the same to get back to the windows phone and it worked seamlessly this time.
It's downstairs and I'm stuffing around with this from upstairs and it's a bit loud, wife not impressed… rage against the machine!
      TLDNR: Buy it!

      • thanks for the reply, sounds a winner

  • i am after these below.. shame they are not on sale.. :(

    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/bose--0174%3B-cinemate--…

  • are these better than sonos? apple vs orange i know because this is more towards portability but i guess if we have the devices close to each other (less than 10m apart like kitchen and lounge room etc) then we could potentially have sonos system, on bluetooth

    • Sonos needs to be on your wifi, doesn't it? I'm not sure you can just have one of them on Bluetooth.

Also, even the smaller Sonos Play:1 is the size of four of these duct-taped together stood on their end.
