I was at office-works getting a cheap hard-drive when I saw these decent pens at just 2c each.
Immediately I was thinking its a price error, but if I grab a heap they will probably honor the price.
But I don't need a heap… Oh well I grabbed only 5 anyway. I went to counter and the lady said yep these are just 2c each we are clearing them out.
My total bill came to something like $81.73 and she said that's $81.75.. I quickly said.. can I have 1 more pen!

I was kicking myself afterwards.. I shoulda said can I have 2 more pens!!!

They had Blue and Black and 100s of them at Morley WA.

        I was being serious, we have a locker in every building and that locker has all sorts of pens, markers, staples, eraser, sharpener, pencils, papers and what not for post graduate students to take. Sad story is I found out about it 6 months after I have enrolled, until then I followed @Giteau's strategy.

        Not sure its the same policy at other Uni's.

          At UNSW they've got the stationary reuse centre which just gives out free pens, folders, etc. Sometimes I've seen some goodies in there as well - all depends on what gets donated in.

          I think it's only for UNSW staff & students though.

      Try it and let us know. Buy two for 4c and see if it's rounded up to 5c. I think it is.

      OP should have paid with CC so that it's not rounded up. CC charge exact amount, it's only cash that is rounded up.

    I'm like that but with petrol discounts.. I get $51.62 worth of petrol only to get to the register and it's $49.99 and that I could've got another 3 cents worth.. FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :(

    Like the fact that even at 2c people have been testing them on the box to see if they work. It would be an OzBargainer's nightmare to lash out 2c and get it home and find you bought a dud.

      Best idea on OzB I've seen this month! Now just wish I'd taken the plunge and got the BankWest account. Damnit!

      250 points for $1 is pretty damn good, but would take around 10minutes or so. Still worth it. I think after the tenth scan the checkout person will get the shits and not want to do the remaining 40.

        Genius! The groupmind of a forum is working. Now all we gotta do is pester all the staff each time we go there, "When are you getting self checkout?" who knows they might pass it on to mgmt! They can implement it as they will get a good C /BA & ROI on it & already have good security process for expensive stock.
