This is a crazy book selection.
Why? Well Agile PM is basically about minimizing the overhead of Project Management methodology vs Six Sigma which introduces a structured tiered methodology. Totally opposites. ( I think I know a lot about this stuff. )

For interest sake, I will read both.
    Pos aDdded.

  • Both of these are current buzz-words in this organisation - so as they are free… Thanks GaB.

  • six sigma… our company went through that phase 10 years ago. Is it back in vogue again for newer companies that have never heard of it?

    • Same here. We went through it about a decade too.

I agree with the above comments. Agile development is a bunch of "philosophies". Different doesn't always mean better.

For large organisations and large projects all studies have shown the traditional waterfall model and System Development Life Cycle to be the most cost effective and successful. Small teams and flexible small business hide the Agile downfalls/overheads a lot better (eg. quality control, post-reviews, peer reviews, process improvement, training).

The only people I saw benefit from Agile were the paid consultants and trainers preaching it.

It reminds me of the twice a day meetings, usually a rinse and repeat affair. It would just be verbalising the blockages I had emailed to the others yesterday that they still had not solved. Or the actualisation of risks that I had anticipated and documented in the risk register. For me the daily Agile meetings didn't add much value as I'm an OK problem solver and previously trained in IT project management. The meetings were uncomfortable as it's the public airing of other peoples deficiencies which has unusual consequences on work culture and interpersonal relationships.
