I'm looking for OBS alternatives myself due to odd audio issues and a lack of customisation. XSplit isn't free for commercial use so that's why this seems like a reasonable deal. Haven't used it yet though!

Dxtory is what many bigname youtube LPers/reviewers use (Totalbiscuit, nerdcubed, I believe pewdie but NFI). Though it's about $40 (same as fraps) but it's hands down the best.

Both sites appear to give out the same Licence code, irrespective of the e-mail address you give it.

I use shadowplay regulary (Nvidia cards only). No extra software to install, just the Geforce driver package. No noticeable framerate drop. It also does desktop capture, so I'd imagine it can "record" youtube etc (I haven't tested that).

MSI Afterburner works on AMD/ATI & Nvidia and is free (has been for years and years).

There's a screen recorder as part of the software.

  • Wanted a free version of these program for years. Thanks OP!

  • What format do people usually save videos captured with this program?

I have tried a few but none have been great (ranging between picture on a slant to slightly choppy) for playback in either vlc or windows media player.
