Wow…reviews seem fantastic and everyone thinks the quality is worth what you are asking for….

Three pairs of JH Roxanne is around what I paid for my first car though…

    • haha, honestly mate, that would be $4947. I paid less than that for my second car!! #holdenstatesman

  • Hi rep,
Weren't the JH 5PRO was $399 a couple weeks ago? Is there any reason for the price hike, and can you still do them at this price? Cheers

    • Hey there,

      Thanks for your questions.

Yes they were. Unfortunately, no longer can we keep them at that price. Especially with the way the aud is flowing.

      Thanks

  • So there is some additional cost for a these or not?

    • These prices do not include impressions, but we have a hefty audiologist network covering most of Australia.
    • Yeah, you have to get your own impressions done. I'd guess $50-100….

      • hmm i would love custom IEM as I have had trouble with all previous pairs I've used & a variety of different tips

        • @havok44: Epoxy in the ear? Mmmmmmmmmm.

        • +2

@havok44: Haha if anyone buys $500+ headphones from their DIY impressions, then please post results

        • @tanabe88gg: Even my professionally-done molds weren't perfect. I had to send my IEMs back for refitting four times. I ended up getting two more impressions done before I was reasonably satisfied.

        • @eug: Damn, that's kind of scary. Was this out of your pocket or was it covered by the audiologist/manufacturer? Was it worth it in the end?

        • +2

@tanabe88gg: All out of my pocket. UE did pay for 2-day FedEx shipping back though.

It was sort-of worth it in the end. I think I was just unlucky. I would have been much happier if I didn't have to do all those refits, of course.
I'm definitely satisfied with the sound. I used to have to bother with EQs with my previous IEMs, but now music sounds great flat through the Sansa Clip Zip.

      • Mine were $60 per side and $60 for labour.

      • Mine were $60 total. From the guys listed on Unique Melody's site.
Perfect fit first time. Note my ears are "unusually clean" dunno if that helped :p

    • yes there is

    • Hey buddy, impressions aren't included but range between $55-75 throughout Australia. Most audiologists include postage to Melbourne on your behalf too. We VERY strongly recommend you don't try and DIY your impressions. You only get one set of ears, not worth the risk!

  • seriously - give us a decent discount on these and it will get properly ozbargained.

cant justify the super high retail

The Roxannes cost 1650 USD in the States. I don't think they have much head room here.

      • You seem like a switched on guy, do you own any IEM's at the moment?

        • +1

Not at the moment, have a HE-6 headphone atm, but am thinking of switching to Roxannes sometime in the near future ;-)

        • Awesome CANS! Let us know when we can help you out bud, we'll look after you. Appreciate the support.

  • From this recent review it would seem the 1964 V3 would be a better buy (at an extra $25) than the JH5 -

    • Unfortunately 1964 have raised the prices of the V3. We currently sell it for $649, which puts it a fair whack more than the JH5. You've discovered a legacy link on our website, but thanks for pointing it out, we'll pull it down. This is the correct link for the 1964 Triple http://acustoms.com.au/home/1964-ears/1964-v3-triple-driver/

      • That's a shame, quite a big difference there. Why do $499 US customs cost $650 AUD here?

        Genuinely curious….

        • US$499 is AUD$574 at 0.87. Your impressions also have to get sent to the US, and the IEMs shipped all the way back here. Add GST on top of that, along with various costs of running a business in Australia which are probably higher than the US (salary, insurance, rent, etc) and there you go.

AUD$574 and AUD$650 aren't too far apart. The small difference is worth the local support, IMHO. If it was AUD$574 and AUD$900 … that's a different story then. :)

  • hmmm for that much $$$ hard to justify it…. lol. rather spend it on a new TV or something….

But you can't take your 64" Plasma on the train, or a plane. You can't use it to block out crying babies, roaring jet engines or nagging girlfriends…

  • Tried the Roxanne earlier in the year, it was the darkest and muddiest IEM I've listened to. Definitely not worth the money, unless you're one of those old school audiophiles, not someone with younger ears.

    • Somewhat understand where you are coming from here. The Roxanne is certainly dark and very much tailored to a specific group of listeners. If you want clarity, the JH13Pro is a fantastic balance of neutrality and fun.

Customs are the absolute best for blocking out noises on public transport, the only thing coming very near it being the ER4.

Unfortunately I had to sell off my JH13 a few years ago (people can get them remolded)but I at least have one custom left (a remolded Shure SE530).

I haven't heard a better IEM out there, very balanced sound without being analytical like the ER4.

    • AGREED. The isolation that custom IEM's can afford you is invaluable. Chuck them in, chuck some tunes on and get taken anywhere in the universe your music wishes.

      • great work on the feedback dannconn. all the best.

    • For sleeping on a plane, I find the Bose QC15 plus a pair of foam earplugs much better than my custom IEMs. It is so quiet that it really sounds like I'm sitting in my living room.

IEMs block higher noises but lets the lows through, just like earplugs. The Bose QC15 cancels lows very well, but lets the higher frequencies through. So when I wear earplugs under the QC15 … bliss!

I tried wearing the QC15 over my IEMs but I think the pressure of the ear cups around my ear brakes the seal. It doesn't sound as quiet as earplugs + QC15.

  • Hi rep, I have the pre JH16 freqphase which I consider bit warm not dark. Are the Roxannes darker/warmer than the JH16 that I own?
