D-Link DIR-865L, AC 1750 Dualband Router for $99 @MSY

120

Been looking around for a Modem/Router update and found this. It's only a router but decent price for a AC1750. Thought I can share it.

Shipping fee varies for different state.

Think twice. There's some pretty bad reviews. But I'm betting on its new firmware could fix it.

im a n00b, is the new AC speeds equivalent to N600?

    • N600 is simultaneous 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 300Mbps connections while AC1750 is simultaneous 2.4GHz 450Mbps and 5GHz 1300Mbps connections. In the real world you won't get anything like those speeds but the AC standard does include beanforming and other enhancements so you should get better range than N routers too.

I thought we got paid $15!?

      What are the bad reviews?
It's my main router, bridged an old modem to it and working 100% reliably.
Firmware is a bit gimped, I'd love to be able to flash it to DD-WRT, but in reality it does everything I need it to do.

There's a tomato firmware released it's been a little buggy for some but works perfect for others. Worth a go , works great for me

        • sweet bro.

      • I'm having massive issues with a couple of media centers.. They stop connecting and the only fix is to power cycle the router. Latest firmware did nothing!

Still Can't believe I got paid for owning this router.

  • It's really not that good a price for just the router once you take into consideration shipping costs, unless you're able to collect.) Once we'd had it shipped we'd be saving only $5 on JB hifi's price.

BUT There's a significantly larger saving to be had on the modem router (you might want to consider putting it in your post, OP)

It was about $40 more expensive on their site on Saturday, and we used that price then to get a good pricebeat DAMMIT!!!!! (Was $217, plus shipping.) We took the officeworks price beat price into JB to see what they'd come up with OW price would have been $220 is, and we got it for $224, which was fine with us given that we had $200 in gift vouchers. TOTALLY spewing now though that we hadn't waited a couple of days. lol

    • Which router are you comparing this to at JB? The cheapest AC1750 router I can see there is the Belkin at $269.

Regardless, the TP-Link Archer D7 has been on OzB for $145-150 and is probably a better bet.

      • This one. It's a little over $120 at JB.
