the UA48H5000 (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video/samsung-48-122cm-full-h…) also comes down to $721 with the code which is the best price I can currently find. Anyone have this TV already? would you recommend it? can't really find any reviews of it on the web.

    • i have one, its quite good, the remote is silly though, its like a WII rmeote

  • be advise DSE will hold your order and no ETA back order day.

    I got reply as following:

Thank you for taking time to email Dick Smith Online.

In relation to your enquiry, please be informed that unfortunately the item ordered is currently on back order awaiting stock arrival.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to provide you with an estimated time of delivery.

Alternatively, we can offer you a full refund.

We apologies for the inconvenience caused.

If you have any further inquiries please do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 366 644 or via email ([email protected]).

    • be advise DSE will hold your order and no ETA back order day.

Or will cancel your order made by Credit Card and request that the only way they will fulfil your order is to pay by Direct Deposit.

      • Oh Thanks for advise,
If so, why don't notice buyer or just stop the selling?
If back order information hide, so who know if ordered ?
DSE should learn from APPLE store for online ordering about the delivery timeframe.

I assume that DSE just forgot the AW at the end of the model number as I can only find a reference to UA55H6400AW on the Samsung site?

I have been looking at the UA55H6400AW for the last few days as my plasma got cracked during the afl grand final (kids throwing toys, not due to the result).

  • can a tech savvy ozbargainer give me the pros and cons of this. need a new tv for the lounge. is it all reasonably good? ie. 100hz is ok? 200hz seems like a gimmick to me. 3d tech ok? colour reproduction? viewing angels? no bugs in software etc? remote ok? etc.

i normally never shop at DSE, but if this is a good deal then ok. has it ever been cheaper anywhere at any point in time? from jb?

    • I have the previous version UA50F6400 series, very good in my opinion, but whether better than LG or Sony I am not sure. I have not tried the 3D yet, so it is a gimmick to me. Browser is slow if you use the TV remote to type in web address, I can do screen mirroring using my mobile phone so I usually just play youtube videos using my mobile phone. TV can record shows, just one channel, but if you are recording, you can't switch channel to watch another channel, so the function is only useful if you are not at home.

  • As a comparison, the Sony 3D 55" is $1130 at the moment from Good Guys and $1133 from Bing Lee.

    • sony good for gaming (which i dont care about) vs samsung better IQ and brightness? seems like that when i check em out in stores.

    • The Sony seems to be $1289 atm.

      • In store it's $1130. The web price is wrong.

  • Purchased from the goodguys on Sunday for 1299.. :(
Will the goodguys honour the 30 days best price when it involves a discount code?

    • Maybe, if you show them the advertised price. They usually do it if it's an advertised price, not sure about special deals.

      • Update: Filled in the online form yesterday and went in store to get the difference refunded this arvo. Very happy :D

Also Samsung are running a promotion at the moment, if you buy current model, and one of their sound bars, you get either $200 or $400 cash back. The 2 sound bar models are $385 and $644, so they will come down to $185 and $244 with the cash back offer.

    • Just remember, the TV and participating sound bar must be purchased in the same transaction.

    • Great tip. Remember to treat the purchase as a volume boost, don't believe the marketing that it'll give you surround sound.

  • This is definitely a good price.

  • The UA48H6400 for $1000.9 is a great deal too.

    Cheapest elsewhere is $1055 (bigbrownbox).

    • In store this is less than $1000 at Good Guys currently. Think it was $980 or something, sorry can't recall exactly.

      • You are thinking of the UA48H5500AW an inferior product. The UA48H6400 is advertised as $1095 at Good guys http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Samsung_48%22(122cm)_FHD_LED_LCD_100Hz_3D_Smart_TV_UA48H6400AW

Didn't know I needed a new TV til today. Thanks again Ozbargain :P

  • ugh im thinking of waiting to see if itll get even cheaper soonish. closer to xmas and black friday sales. worth a gamble to see if it'll be another $100 cheaper?

    • +3

It may get cheaper by $100 by X'mas but 3 months of enjoyment must surely worth more than $100??

      • dont REALLY need it now (would prefer to do some more research and actually see it a few times).

        • i hate DSE. regularly assholes when dealing with them (warranty rejection attempts, threats etc.). sick of them. side effect of franchises really.
  • :/ Paid 1333 from dicky 2 weeks ago.

  • So much hassle with this TV. Ordered it with the 9% off deal, they then delivered the incorrect item. This is when I discovered the Disk Smith helpline is useless. First guy took all my info down saying he's raised the issue. Called back two days later - no notes on the system from the first guy. Awesome.
Then after being hung up on, they explained that I had to wait for Startrack to come and pick up the incorrect item (between 8-5, so a day off work), then wait 2-3 weeks for the correct item to be delivered (and that'd mean another day waiting at home). Apparently they can't send the corrent one out and pick up the incorrect item at the same time.
Currently back on the phone to them now (30mins in the queue already!) to ask for a refund. I'd rather pay extra with someone else than have to deal with these people again.

    • I'm afraid that this is normal for Dick Smith - good luck with your refund request - there's cheap with companies like Dick Smith and MSy - and then there's cheap with other companies who do deal with things reasonably afterwards. I hope you get your money back quickly ……..
