Telstra Refurbished HTC One M8 or Brand New OnePlus One?

Hi everyone I am up for a new mobile upgrade. Been an iPhone user since 3gs and currently using a 5 and out of contract atm. Since iph 6 and 6+ were so underwhelming and freaking expensive I have decided to move to Android for good. I have a mate who works for telstra and can get me a telstra refurbished HTC m8 for $450. I was kind of leaning towards the one plus one which I can acquire for $470 from online. I'm kinda kicking myself that I missed out on the ebay bday sales. Could have got a s5 lte-a version with that amount.

Either one is good, HTC One has microsd slot and front facing speakers, OnePlusOne has a better camera.

HTC One M8. You wont regret it.

I use an Iphone5S as a work phone but have put my money on the HTC M8.

    HTC..
It's cheaper, has local support, looks better (IMO) and has expandable storage.
If you don't like the HTC Skin, flash it to Google Play Edition.

    • Just out of curiosity. If you install a custom skin, will it void the warranty?

      • You mean a Launcher?
Should be fine. It's an app just like any other.
Flashing to Google Play Edition possibly, but you'd have a fair argument to say it's an approved ROM for the hardware.

  • Don't think you could go wrong with either one to be honest. I got a 64GB Oneplus One during the eBay sales for $361. Loving it so far. It's huge, but well worth it.

  • Both good units, and premium Androids offer way bang for buck than iOs.
I fancy a OnePlus but I am hanging out for something resembling a 'local' version with Aussie support.

  • Same here. It's getting quite expensive to acquire a OPO now. Around 480-490 for the 64gb. I am wondering whether I should put 70 bucks more and get a s5

  • It seems that i also have the option of a 32gb s5 for $449. Now I'm utterly confused.

is that from Telstra as well? (let me know where as I may get one)
      If so grab that.

  • Is the M8 not generally considered better than the S5?
    Also torn

  • I purchased the HTC M8 a couple of months back, brilliant phone and I'm proper happy with it. All I will say is this, if you do go down that road, get a decent case… I had mine in one of the dot cases and dropped it from a height of maybe a meter, on to carpet. It hit the chair on the way down— right on the blo*dy volume button, which now only works in one direction (having to use the screen to adjust volume in the other direction), and also randomly turns itself off now… It doesn't make the phone unusable, but it's a bit of a pain… If I could get the M8 for $450, I'd be considering buying it again…
