Man i dont need these but should i buy it anyway?

    • +2

      Yes

    • They're not that great fyi, they're just 'okay'. Next purchase for me will be some nice solid book speakers.

  • What are these things like? How much can you expect from something that is usually about $80? The deal is good nonetheless

  • Just bought now to work out a need….sigh

Edit: They are good speakers - the sub adds a nice bottom end. Checked these out at Officeworks a few weeks ago (they were $88). Only slight complaint are the long cords everywhere (spoilt by BT)

buy first work on need later! thats the ozbargain way. thats why i love this forum. lol

  • Don't know why I should buy it. But ended up buying it!

  • how do you connect a PS3 to it?

    • ps3 > hdmi > ps4 > hdmi > z506

but seriously. I have no idea, I don't know what audio connections they have.

I have these speakers and the quality is pretty good, for my small study. But I am not an audiophile.

      • 3.5mm jack or RCA from Logitech Z506 to TV/Monitor > PS3 to TV/Monitor via HDMI > set audio output as Logitech Z506 on the TV/Monitor.

        • Better check that your TV has a 3.5mm or RCA out. A lot of current TVs only have optical.

I bought these speakers about 2 years ago from the logitec shop for $50 & they are a great set to use on your computer for movies or even music. i would recommend them at this price.

Keep in mind these speakers don't have optical input so they aren't a good choice for TV's also as the sound can be only controlled via volume knob, so not suited for home entertainment. Though a good choice for computer speakers.

(In my opinion however these speaker don't sound as good as similar priced soundbars at $80 but it really depends what you are looking for… 5.1 vs 2.1 is big difference).

    How are they with TV?

    • +1

Depends on your TV. Most TVs and set-top boxes don't have six RCA sockets to output 5.1 channel sound. Some DVD players do.

If all your TV has is a headphone output, you can use this, but of course you'll only get stereo. And you'll have to remember to turn the amplifier on when you turn the TV on, or get one of those load-sensing powerboards.

I have one of these connected to my TV, through the headphone jack. I didn't connect the rear speakers, no point. Sounds really good, very noticeable difference, particularly in movies. Using the TV's internal speakers now sounds "tinny" by comparison, whereas before I had these speakers, I thought the TV was fine.

Also note that the leads this comes with are three 3.5mm-to-3.5mm leads, which are only useful for connecting to a computer. If you want to hook up the the headphone output of something, you'll need to buy a 3.5mm-to-2xRCA lead. The input on the unit for stereo signals is RCA sockets. If you have a DVD player with six RCA sockets for audio, you'll need three leads which are 3.5mm-to-2xRCA, as the inputs for 5.1-channel sound are 3.5mm jacks.

  • Don't need them, bought them anyway, thanks!

  • Bought, thanks op!

Got these for 69 earlier today during the flash sales. wtf laaame

  • These are old school analogue not digital audio, expect some inference and loss of audio quality.

  • +3

Didn't need them, can't use them. Bought anyways.

  • looks like code YES15 no longer works

  • Just got the email notification this morning, 02-10, Bit late as it expired yesterday!.

  • Probably a decent set of speakers for the elderly now that I come to think of it because they're more of a set it and forget it, basic, remoteless type of operation (apart from the regular TV remote volume function which they should be used to anyway) plus the elderly tend to have older TV's as technology becomes less of a priority so these are more likely to fit their setup ideally.
