I read an article last week by a Christian claiming that Yoga is bad because it is clandenely teaching Westerns "evil" Hindu paganism.

Though from what I have seen of Western yoga, it has been completely stripped of anything spiritual or intellectual in order to cater to Western materialism. No raja, bhakti, kundalini, jnana, kriya, etc yogas, just hatha yoga.

Very few ordinary people would really understand what Yoga is, nor do they care or seek to know about the Yoga precepts / philosophies that come with Yoga as a whole. And that is why you get people who rant about how evil yoga is.

Practicing Yoga without following prescribed diet is almost not going to bring any positive result, so people who have tried it but haven't got what they wanted out of it start blaming it.

No offense at Christian community, but we should accept the fact that the Christianity was established with political intentions and its leaders have always been trying to step on everything that they believe outgrows Christianity. All they do is, they say "Practicing these rituals is evil."

I'm not being specific to Hinduism. This is what happened to the pagan beliefs in Rome. You go to India once, and see what those missionaries do in the rural areas. You feel ashamed of those so called 'fathers'. It's purely a business there. Only thing those fathers do is converting people for a hefty commission per head. They don't seek 'the truth' or anything.

I thought yoga was about wearing tights pants and raising your butt in the air while simultaneously drinking starbucks coffee.

      • Can't blame you, as there are many knowledged people who don't want to spread their knowledge and more idiots who don't want to learn

:-p I have nothing against yoga pants, especially slim ladies in yoga pants, or yoga shorts.

Why are these posts always so popular? You can get all this info from a google and youtube search for free as well..

    • +6

Feel free to post your Google & YouTube finds…

    • They're structured and in one place. You get access to the lecturer and other students. Good luck getting that kind of support and feedback on YouTube.

'YouTube comments' is infamously mocked for their utter stupidity.

Why search for it when it's all there in one place already? They're free. Not every link in a search even with 'free' in it will be accessible with or without some sort of registration or credit card etc. Plus they'll have ads and risk of spamming you and malware etc.

Udemy get's a bit 'spammy' according to some, but so what, I just tick them all and delete. Ignore them.
