A mate called me yesterday to ask for a receipt for the DC59 Animal since he doesn't go onto Ozbargain when I told him they were selling like hot cakes at Myers ($363.30) and DJ was price matching. Told him to try his luck there with the receipts I sent him (attached from fellow ozbargainers) and he tested his luck yesterday at Masters(VIC) and they price matched it $363.30.
So test your luck at DJ and Masters. Talk to a normal staff and not a manager. You might get lucky.

Got my AM08 delivered this morning, well packaged in bubble wrap unlike the Good Guys who just whacked a label on the box of my DC59 & thank god they shipped with Aus Post & not Couriers Please.

@rompastompa: Been there done that: that website won't update until at least two days later. You can copy paste the consignment number/tracking number into Australian Post online tracking. It should have record for it.

My DC59 (non-animal) currently on backorder for Melbourne delivery.
Received my DC59 animal (in Parramatta). Seemed to have from near the airport somewhere judging from the tracking. Seems pretty handy, installing the mount was a pain though, no screws/grommets.
Yeah I thought that was pretty stingy!!! I received mine today too :) :) is smaller then I thought but worked great in the car!
collected my DC59 animal, regretted that i didn't buy another one.
5 mins charge left in it when i took it out of the box and tried it on couple of the stairs steps…. the motorhead ftw. i could make a mice and a half with all that fluff picked up.

My email says estimate delivery 18th Oct, but then went online and checked my account it says backordered…. :( How come I didn't get an email from myer to say it was backordered? Now I don't know when it will be delivered.
On the same boat. Mine also showed backordered when I logged in to Myer website, no email. I couldn't see any date though, how some above said theirs were showing backordered until 16/11/2014 or so (there's no date on mine)
it's in confirmation email you received for your order. It should have an Est. Delivery date on it.
Anyone who ordered within the hour of the deal usually have have an Est. delivery date of the 17 - 21st. Those who ordered about 2 hours or so after the deal was posted got an Est. delivery date some time in mid Nov. (Even though it's not correct because a lot have received theirs before that date).
Only reason i was able to see mine update from 17th(initial email) to the 21st is because i added a gift message to my order and was sent an update email which now shows the 21st.
But yeah…those dates don't really mean anything. They just give you false hope haha
No hope with Myer. Had several reps try for me and secure stock all over but no manager would oblige to honour that price. Oh well, back on the waiting list for a good deal elsewhere. I should have gone out and pricematched elsewhere when the deal had just expired! :(

Yes, my order is still on backorder, but speaking to a few Myer people over the phone this last week, each time I've been told it'll most likely never get fulfilled and the online orders team can't tell me anything. Because bricks and mortar stores and the online store are separate entities, none of the managers will agree to the $364.30 price (Obviously below cost). No I have not cancelled my order, despite being offered several times.
It's just ridiculous how Myer is such a big store, yet can't source vacuums or get their stores to honour a couple of prices and then cover the gap between the cost price and the sold price, since it is the online store's fault that the price error occurred.
I wouldn't be so irked if they just cancelled everyone's orders and issued refunds. It was always a gamble, but when it pays off for some people and not for others, it sucks.

@eug: Yes that's true. That's why I'm not a gambler haha. I'm thinking of just taking a $454.30 offer from a manager; not the best price, but really that was what it was meant to be since the $15 off every $75 spend wasn't meant to stack - $90 additional saving.

@eug: Not sure if I need it at that price though. At the end of the day it's still a glorified vacuum with Dyson on it. I've already got a old Dyson corded vacuum that does the trick fine, but is a hassle out in the car and for small jobs. At $365 I think it's worth it, but any more and I feel it's loosing its value proposition (not that it had much to begin with)

If you don't have the patient to wait and keep having negativity about it, then i suggest you take the offer. It's better than nothing. Also T&C blah blah blah .. you know what i wanna say so no point repeating it.
As Eug said, there's probably a lot of order that were put through, it's something they didn't forecast at all so delays are expected. It hasn't been a week and honestly I give them credit for honoring the deal to those who have received their Dyson/s. I've seen big companies that had price errors and you know what? They just flick all the customers away and didn't honor it.
So yeah, you have to give credit to Myers because I do think they deserve it.

I had a cordless Electrolux ErgoRapido before this one. I tested the Dyson last night and it definitely pulls up more fine dust from my rug than the Electrolux. Max mode is even more amazing. I'm considering getting rid of my mains-powered vac as the Dyson's runtime is long enough for my small unit. I hardly used the mains-powered vac when I got the cordless Electrolux as it was so convenient. This Dyson might be the final nail in the coffin for it!

the dc59 doesnt run when plugged in when i tested mine… so when it goes flat, you have no option but wait for it to charge.

am referring more to the fact that most batteries have 1 year lifespan keeping charge… so the 'cant run while charging' can be a source of frustration regardless of your house size. :)
i use this exclusively for under my kids highchair, the stairs and car so i dont think your house can be smaller area than that. :D
unless you plan to replace it after a year or two.. then my point is moot. :)

After reading all these posts of people getting their Dyson from Sydney, I'm feeling jealous. I am IN Sydney and still haven't received an update for my order. I received my order confirmation on the 17th Oct at 10.33am, so I guess I was one of the early buyers. I wonder if it is because I used Paypal to check out (Myer has taken the money) and didn't log in to Myer as I didn't have my Myer details on me.

The tracking Myer gave me is from some tracking company Temando. And the tracking is still saying awaiting pickup since yesterday any one else the same?
Mine said awaiting pickup for a day and a bit. The Temando page doesn't get updated frequently. Just copy your consignment number and paste it into Auspost's tracking page for more details.

Yeah, mine was to be delivered roughly 15km if looking at the map (I know it doesn't take that route). Got email that it was "shipped". Checking link, it was another 2 days or so of "awaiting pickup" before it was actually sent (and another day or so before attempted delivery), so you just have to be patient :) Picked our up this morning on way to work (haven't opened box yet).
Try putting the tracking number they gave you in to Aus Post tracking. That is all I did and I got more frequent updates. The Temando system is pretty useless if it only updates once per day.

Not very big, it's around waist-height. You shouldn't have any problems carrying it on a train.

The box that arrived at mine is huge, so if your planning on taking it on the train it might be worth seeing if the post office will take the packing box (If thats where you are getting it from). The dyson box itself is small and easy to carry

Mine was delivered today even though the Temando's site still showing as waiting for pickup lol. So yeah that Temando site is useless. Got delivered by Aus Post btw. Did play around with it for a few mins seem really good so far. I will test it tomorrow after a full charge.

Mine still showing backordered, but got a call on Friday and the lady told me that she received a confirmation from Dyson that they'll be getting enough stock in about 2 weeks to fulfill all orders. So I guess, everyone would eventually get theirs if they're willing to wait

Haven't heard anyone getting their order cancelled yet and i see no reason why they would. They admit it was a fault on their end. Dyson will continue to ship supplies. Myers still makes money. I don't see why they wouldn't provide the goods :)
And they wouldn't ship out some and not others.. It's either they make an announcement about the price error and refund everyone, or admit there was an error on their end but still honour it (Which they have been doing).

But honestly i think Melbournians are the last lot to get theirs delivered.
