  • Anyone have any experience with these? How accurate are they in tracking calories etc?

I have one, I'm pretty happy with it and use it for every run. Takes a bit of time to lock to GPS compared to a smartphone, 1-2 minutes and the real time pace function needs the Nike shoe sensor. I charge mine after every run as it seems to drain the battery if it has a run stored in memory. Without a run stored it'll easily last a week. The USB connection built into the wrist band is a great feature.

Calories are calculated based on pace and your weight.

If you participate in other sports like cycling, swimming or skiing I would probably pay more and get a Garmin multisport as the Nike watch software is only useful for running.

    • Heaps of guys in my running club use these, for the money they are pretty good value. I personally stick with my trusty Garmin Forerunner 310xt. I think the Nike software takes your height and weight buy with no HRM I'm not sure how accurate the calories are.

      • I'll need to save up for FR620 or 920xt. :)

You can buy the HRM for about $70 - Wearlink Nike+.

I ended up getting one as I've been using the Nike app on the iPhone 5S. Just got an iPhone 6 and I figured I'll be more comfortable wearing a watch than a big armband, and I like the features of the Nike app.

I have had one for a couple of years now. Not sure if this is an updated version or not. I love it. Battery life for me has been (and still is) great. I hate running with more than I need, and couldn't handle a big arm bands with a phone attached. For me, ipod shuffle, GPS watch, and a fuelbelt for longer runs is all I take with me.

FYI regarding accuracy, the longest run I have done with it is 35.1km as measured by google maps, and the watch said 34.2km. Run for the kids last year was 15km and it measured 14.3km (not sure how it worked out the tunnel).

Used just as a watch, the battery lasts a few weeks.

      • Thanks for the info.

  • Shame about the proprietary wireless standard (Looks like it works wit polar Wearlink)
If it was ANT+ (or even BLE), it might be worth getting.

  • Waiting for when someone releases GPS watch with heart rate monitor - I think Samsung will be the first?

    • TomTom and Suunto already have.

    • Adidas micoach smart run…

    • Fitbit also has one in the pipeline according to advertising material leaks from this week. The fact it's marketing material probably points to it not being far off hitting the market.

    • GARMIN
      Runtastic
      Crane (Aldi)
      Mio
      bryton
      … and many more!

  • Does it do heart rate?

  • Does it show heart rate graph??

    • Not on the watch I don't believe. Once you sync it with the computer you can get graphs off the software/site however.

  • It's important to note that Nike have abandoned their tech division, this and the fuelband, so there won't be a replacement coming after these are phased out.

Also the optional shoepod doesn't measure stride rate, which is kinda the point of having a shoepod, and the Nike infrastructure doesn't support other activities other than running. So this watch will measure your walks/hikes/cycling as running activities. I don't understand why Nike didn't just program these options into their software.

    • I used the shoe pod more to provide measurements when GPS wasn't available or practical, namely when on a treadmill.

  • I owned one of these and was happy with it but eventually grew out of it.

Good for beginners who aren't sure if they'll be totally into all wizbang multisport measurement.

Would totally recommend for beginners but sports nuts would probably find it limited.
