Is this the cheapest the latest model Paperwhite has been?

From Aussie retailer pretty sure it is

    • I got mine for $128, but that was when AUD was stronger so this is a pretty good deal

  • Still waiting for you to find me an awesome 65" TV deal Trent the TV man!

    • Woops I forgot. Have you thought about the Seiki 65" which you could get for around $800? Or do you rather a known brand?

      • Dick Smith 65" HD TV in stores, this weekend only - $599.

The auto-shut off is pretty annoying (it shuts off after 15mins if nothing is coming from the source), and there's no option to turn it off. On top of that you need to adjust the volume when it resets.

I wouldn't rush to buy it.

    • $167 < $157 ?

    • That's $10 more

      • I think Davo forgot that there is a $25 off code :D

        • my mistake, thought that price included the code.

  • These are the "old" Kindles now:

    http://www.amazon.com/High-Resolution-Display-Adaptive-PageP…

    Kindle Voyage. 300dpi.

    • I honestly dont really see the Voyage being worth the extra money, especially if you can get the first or 2nd gen paperwhite at a good price (I got my paperwhite for 99)

      • +1

Where/How did you manage to get one for $99?

        • One of those weekend ebay sales

    • Actually the only old one is the Paperwhite 3G. The others are New, the paperwhite one is new too as its Now 4GB And not 2 like the old one.
This is the old Paperwhite, same price for half storage http://www.dicksmith.com.au/ereaders-accessories/kindle-wifi…

He meant that the Voyage has superseded the Paperwhite 2nd gen. Which is not quite true, Voyage has just taken the spot as the Premium kindle, rather than replacing the Paperwhite entirely.

I dont really see the point of having more storage tho, the browsing system is so clunky on the kindle that if you have more than say 50 books, it becomes a nightmare to browse through them. Its so easier to use something like Calibre for your library and just transfer over a few books at a time

        • I use collections to organise my books by author. I have well over 300 books on my Kindle and works really well.

  • I'm holding out for the Voyage but that's an excellent price…

I've got the original paperwhite. Love it to bits and will most definitely upgrade to the Voyager when timely - the ambient light auto-adjust backlight (in reality it's actually frontlit) feature is one I'm looking forward to.

  • Sucks that I can't use it on the Playstation TV. Oh well.

  • I have the Sony Soundbar (bought it when it was $133 odd), can highly recommend it. It can run off multiple inputs (switch between say analog and Bluetooth, there are like 3 other inputs as well) and surround sound on/off button. If you have a Sony TV (like I do) you are also able to use the remote for the soundbar instead of your actual remote. It works really well (for movies, and tv, definite tick), but if you wanted music quality (it's excellent but won't compare to say a UE / sonos actual soundbar / system). In addressing the auto switch off its actually a good feature in the sense that if you are just running off Bluetooth and leave the house with the device and forget about the soundbar it switches off automatically. If you are watching TV movies what not it won't just 'switch off' as it is being used. Common sense would suggest so

Worth getting for the price (<150 is a deal in my opinion, I only bought mine coz they had a FIFA14 in them when they were on sale for $133)

    Hope this helps
