HP LaserJet P1102 $51.5, HP LaserJet P1102W $54 Delivered @ Staples

NRMAXPYT15SWANS25OFF

I intend to buy one of these but I am not sure the cartridge is a full cartridge or a starter cartridge. HP website shows it's a full cartridge but HP mobile shows it's a introductory cartridge. Very confusing:

but I am not sure the cartridge is a full cartridge or a starter cartridge.

Considering a full cartridge probably costs more than the printer, I'd say it's a starter cartridge.

    • Average starter/full cartridge yields approximately 1000/1600 standard pages. Is it correct?

      • +2

Introductory cartridge included; Declared yield ~700 pages

HP 85A Black LaserJet Toner Cartridge CE285A (~1600 pages)

carts are cheap enough off ebay

      hey jv
how is it that the first reply to most of the posts is always urs? do u have a notification system? i mean i chk ozb almost 5-10 times a day, out of curiosity ,how many times do you?

      • Who said he checks it?

  • You need to apply both coupon codes to get the prices quoted above.

These printers are virtually the same except

P1102: Grey, No WiFi, 2gb ram.
    P1102w: Black, WiFi G, 8gb ram.

    • +7

      You mean 2MB and 8MB RAM I think…

      • Yes MB. My mistake sorry. And only MONO laser. For that price. I remember buying a P1102 cheap back in september 2012. I only paid $35 on clearance from a PC store that is no longer in business.

As mentioned below printout is average but still good enough for what I want to use it for. A workshop environment.

Good luck…looks like we aren't have much with our vacuum cleaners.

  • Any ideas on cost of black and colour cartridges for these?

    • +2

They're black and white printers, so no colour cartridges.

Quick google brings back a number of results, as a bit of a guide: http://www.inkstation.com.au/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-toner-car…

      • Thank you kind sir!

    • i use hottoner.com.au very cheap and they deliver

      • Cool. Will check it out. I've been using inkstation or ebay but always on the lookout for cheaper or better service.

      • For my printer (Fuji Xerox CP105b), hottoner and inkstation are both pretty much the same, inkstation about $1-2 cheaper per cartridge. Just trying to decide if I should replace with genuine or compatible cartridges. Have had compatibles not work at all in the past. Other option is just to replace the printer.

Better value and performance with a Brother HL-2135w IMO. I currently use both. P 1102 is only black and white btw.

  • Is the printer in the staples link provided the wireless one or not? I'm not sure because Staples doesn't have the "w" on the end of the product code but it does say that it is wireless.

Edit: thanks for adding the link for the WiFi one. I ended up buying one! Thanks for sharing the deal!!

I'm currently using the p1102w, print quality is pretty standard but the cost of the toner (CE285A) is quite reasonable for around $17 a cartridge of ebay which prints around 1600 pages, equating to approximately 1 cent a page.

Ive had a brother hl-2040 for 6 years plus and cant kill it! I use both a P1102 and a HL-2135 and the HL-2040 at work. I just find the Brothers less prone to problems and the print qualith seems better too. Cartridges for the Brother are cheaper on ebay too for a higher yield than the HP. The advantage the HP has is that the paper feed path is one wide turn. Feeds in the front and turns 180 degrees and comes out the top. That is better for thciker paper or invoice sheets with sticker shipping labels, which is why I purchased it for this alone. If you dont need that feature, then look at the Brother lines. Personally I find them better.

  • Cant comment on the L2340Dw. Looks like a newer model but never used one. It could be ok as it looks like it has similar base features to a HL2135, but with a few upgrades.

Thanks OP. Jumped in and purchased P1102W. Please note that the prices are GST exclusive. So the final prices become around $57 and $59.

    • No GST included

    • My final price was $54.04. I had my business ABN attached from the Aquire/Staples deal and I used the Free Delivery Code AFREEDEV, but I think delivery was free anyway.

Fourth printer I have bought in two weeks. Do they run on eneloops? Thanks for posting.

  • Hmmm, have a feeling orders will be canceled but might as well give it a shot

  • Delivery $19.95 for me, not free.

    • Free delivery code NRMAM4MFREEDEV

  • can some1 confirm if ink is included? :)

  • I have had a P1102W for about a year now and it's great, and for the Apple iDevice users out there the built in AirPlay functionality of this printer works really well

  • Total comes to $59.54 for the P1102W delivered for me to Sydney.

  • +1

NRMAM4MFREEDEV for free delivery. Alternatively add something to bring to $55.

  • $54.4 is GST inclusive

  • Is it easy to set up the wireless on a chromebook?

  • AirPrint works great once you have latest firmware.
Cartridges can be bought off eBay for about $15
    Recommended

  • Thanks I've had my eye on one of these for a while!

    • I hope you got your eye off the printer ok and you can see ok now.

  • In terms of print quality and value, would this printer be better than the Fuji Xerox DPP115B or the Rico SP100?

I have the Fuji and I've been pretty dissatisfied with the quality of the print.

  • Has anyone actually gotten an order confirmation email for their order for this yet? Cos I haven't and they say mine is still being processed.

    • No e-mail order confirmation, but I did get a CONFIRMED order with my order # on their website which I have printed for my records.

      • +2

Did you check the attached pdf? My sales confirmation pdf states the final price is $67.99 not $54.00. WTF?

        • +1

Me too. I've just rung up and complained. They are going to change it. It's a bit dodgy when the price that shows up on your screen, that you authorise your credit card to pay, is different from the price on the invoice, which I assume is the price they charge to your credit card.
          BTW, backorder.

        • What attached PDF? I never got an order confirmation email in the first place but i got the COMFIRMED order same as OmniAtlas

edit: Ok got my PDF. Price was wrong. Rang them up they said that all orders using the NRMA 15% off code will be cancelled so I just had them cancel my order.

        • @the69thhokage: same here.. just had them cancel my order..

        • @mikokik5:
They wanted a copy of the email they sent giving me the code. They won't honour the price, because of "illegitimate use" of the code.

        • same here..but I think $68 is still good price considering it's a wireless and free starter toner.

      • Just got the e-mail confirmation. Call them up, they won't honor the NRMA code unless you e-mail them a copy of your card.

        • I just received the printer today and i checked my bank account, they charged me $74.89 when i thought its $54….

    Hi Guys,
With regards to your query about the toner that is included on the box of this printer once you purchased it. It’s a standard HP toner same as the one that you can purchase on your local stores Hewlett Packard no longer provide starter inks since September 2010. If you want to know more about the specification of the toner you can check it by just going to this link.

    Checkout said $59.54, charged $74.89

Dodgy practices, these guys should be banned as they will charge you what they see fit after you give them your credit card details, they charged my credit card the right amount and then made 2 more transactions for the remainder

    • Unless you're an NRMA member you weren't eligible for the 15% discount. But they have no right to charge your credit card without your consent or for a different amount to what you authorized.

    • +1

Funny no-one can neg it as they upvoted already. I was charged $69 and wrote them an email. Should be interesting. Not sure what went through the credit card yet.

    • I just received the printer today and i checked my bank account, they charged me $74.89 when i thought its $54….

  • Damn, i received the item today with a tax invoice for $74. That's not the amount they showed me at the checkout. Isn't that illeagal? Going to call them up today.

    • Same thing happened to me for 2 orders of office consumables (last week). I contacted the representative, she stated that nrma requested that the code by cancelled for every order. Offered to pick up the item for free and refund me.

    • Called Staples and they are going to cancel the order and refund.
They will also arrange the return of the item.

  • Got charged and invoiced for $67.99 for the printer, called Staples and was offered order cancellation and return. Not happy but not sure what we can do about it.

  • wouldn't it cost them more to send the item out and then get it returned (just in postage costs) than honour the price with the code?

I'm going to get mine returned/refunded if they charge me the increased price.

  • Decided to keep the printer as I really needed it anyway, and I believe we're getting the full sized toner which is a bonus! Still sort of a deal I guess.

    • Happy with the purchase even though they only gave me the $25 off and not the NRMA discount, and would recommend the printer, works pretty good wirelessly with Macbook and nexus 5! :)
