what is jetts? Also title says its free but details in post talks about fees. Im confused now.

  • People still pay money to join a gym??
Pay to go but not to join.

    • Could you elaborate on that for people who never go to a gym but are curious?

      • Plenty of gyms that offer pay as you go rather than upfront and fortnightly direct debits.

        • Ooooow, no contracts then? I might check that out, thanks!

        • Can you name a few of these 24 hour gyms that have no joining fee and card fee when you sign up?

        • @Orpheus: They usually offer it to foundation members when a new gym is about to start up. Then you can just use your card at your nearest branch.

No joining fee because it has transformed to club access fee =D

This probably covers the cost of supplying and setting up the access card I assume you need for 24hr access?

    No Joining Fee

"a one-off “Club Access Fee” of $59 applies and is payable upon joining."

Sounds like a joining fee to me…

    -ve vote for misleading advertising…

    • Usually you have to pay the $59 and $89 upon joining.

They actually don't have discretion to waive either fee usually (from my own experience), so if you're wanting to join your local Jetts then I do think this is a good time to do it.

I don't know whether Jetts is worse value than other budget 24hr gyms - but in my case, if I wanted to join a gym that would be my choice because it's the only one near me.

  • I go to Snap Fitness at Redcliffe QLD and they haven't had a "joining fee" for ages. They offer I think 3 different joining packages which include the 24 hour access card and depending on how much you spend, a lot of other stuff. I think the cheapest package is $49 and you get an access card, free group training sessions and a consult with a PT.

Their price is also cheaper at $12.95 per week

This is what is always offered if asked for, or even if not asked for.
    And also.. what Jv said.

This is a marketing/bait ploy, and not a genuine bargain.

    • Are you sure? I have tried before and they refused to waive either fee… I didn't end up joining, I was inquiring because I was considering it. All they could offer was to give me a free drink bottle which looked like it was worth 20c.

      • hmm.. I went into 3+ Jetts over a couple of months (to try and get zero fees) and without much hassle they waived the $89.

They wouldn't waive all fees so I didn't join.

Don't see how they would expect someone to pay $150 to join.. but i guess some people do.

  • Its 89 joining and 59 card. Usually always get the joining fee waived but they dont budge on the card

  • Not really a bargain. Waiving the joining fee and charging you an access fee is common marketing ploy amongst gyms. I'm looking at you Anytime Fitness.

  • All 24 hour gyms charge you for the access card. It doesn't cost near as much to make the card as they charge you though.

I consider it part of their sign up fee. There is no way I would pay both fees. I'm disinclined to pay for another card. I can go to my other 24 hour gym which I've already bought the card for.
