  • I saw this deal from their app. Anyone who has gotten one of their free keys in the previous promotions comment on the speeds? On their free vpn service its pretty slow.

Also can you confirm that it is 12 months paid + 6 months free, so all up 18 months of Premium Plus for $21.99?

    • Shocking.

I tested it on a few devices and on both my home ADSL2+ (Internode syncing @ ~13Mb) and mobile on 3G, and it was really, really bad. Also did a test on my mobile at work on the wifi network there and tried to stream Spotify on my phone, it couldn't even play a song without skipping and stopping. Turned off the VPN and back to no issues at all.

Tried the US, Germany and Czech Republic servers and then gave up testing the others. I'd of at least though the US ones would be decent, but nope.

      • I, too, am with Internode on their Naked DSL plan.

But I experienced very good speeds using the free key given out a few months back. I lost about 5~10% of my bandwith, at most.

        • Yeh i have been reading and people say about 10-20% speed reduction, which i think is pretty good. Any other comments? Im seriously considering this deal, its pretty good even if they offer free again, because you can use on multiple devices.

These guys now have Aussie servers too. 9 Servers located in Melbourne.

It is 12 months Premium Plus edition (5 devices) + 6 months Premium edition (1 device) free.

Both edition can access to ALL Premium servers. Previous promotions is Special Edition, it didn't give you access to all servers, just 5.

Premium and Premium Plus have good speed. Cyberghost is the best VPN service out there, even works on windows 10 preview.

It was free not that long ago…

    • Those free keys didn't give you access to all servers. Just a select few.

These keys are proper premium keys.

  • Probably the most congested VPN provider, premium or not…

    • Can you comment on the speeds though? also how it compares with other VPN services

I can barely hit 7Mbps to a LA node with a LA server, hit 20Mbps rarely … (Using BP Cable Ultimate 100Mbps)

I've used PIA, iB & IPv

        Rank them as follows:

Speed: PIA & iB & IPv
        Secure: PIA
        Value: PIA & iB
        Server Choice: iB & IPv

Note: iB starts from $4.95/mth, PIA starts from $6.95/mth & IPv from $10/mth.

it's been free here a few times. (yes event the premium version)

Premium or Free, I have found their speed to be poor. Not enough to stream video without tearing your hair out, anyway.

  • I've been using a free key with a deal I found here not too long ago. When it's good, its good. 1080p youtube streams, fast torrents. When it's bad, it's BAD. Like nothing loads. Most of the time it's ok though.

    • have you noticed there are specifically good and bad times? i.e good at nighttime/early morning in europe?

      • I find it to be fairly random. Straight after work is the best but it gets worse toward about 9.

      • I find it to be fairly random. Straight after work is the best but it gets worse toward about 9.

    • Likewise.
I have paid accounts with Private Internet Access (PIA), VPN Unlimited (VU), and free premium Cyberghost.
Cyberghost software seems to be best, but performance-wise PIA is miles ahead. VPN Unlimited is ghastly, awful, and terrible.

      • Do you think its worth getting the cyberghost for $22, or go for PIA? Does PIA allow multiple devices?

        • PIA allows 5 concurrent, from memory. I would personally go PIA: it has its annoyances (e.g. sometimes the VPN connection stalls and needs reconnection) but that is relatively unusual and the performance is consistently fairly good (i.e. no notable loss in speed, although my connection is only about 8Mbps.

  • May say $21.99 on topwaresale.com but when you add it to the cart it then becomes $22.51 USD. Must have gone up slightly in price since the start of the sale.

+1 for Aussie servers. Most VPNs in this price range lack this. They have 9 Servers located in Melbourne - seem to be using IBM Softlayer data center.

  • Thanks OP

I have been using the free Premium account that I got from OzB some months back, very happy with the speed (Drops around 5 to 10% of my speed, depending on the location I used (I find Canada and UK to be the best speeds)). Apart from getting disconnects from the service after about 2 hours of use, and have to manually reconnect, I have been happy. So I have gone for this paid deal, I am happy to get the Plus version for about $25 Aus (That is what it came to in PayPal), and was not too worried if I did not get the free 6 month basic Premium (Not the plus) for the extra six months. But they gave me that anyway when I sent the email as stated in signup.
I think that with the Plus version, you get the same amount of servers that I would see in my Permium acount, but when it dosconnects for whatever reason, the Plus is meant to automatically reconnect you.. I will see if it does actually do that.
