    It's a 1080p 27" display… not really worth it.
You might as well get a 1440p display for only a little bit more money.

    • I agree with you, but this is a decent price for a 1080p 27".

BenQ 27" IPS for $399 appears to be back in stock.

i would enjoy a 1440p display but I would not enjoy slow frame rates for some top games
try crysis 3 for example its bad enough with just one card for 1440p you would want 2 gpus

      • Put the resolution to 1920x1080 when you play Crysis 3?

        • heaps of other games would struggle. is the scaling good for 1080p?
also websites are super small at that res so does 1080 scaling for websites look good

    • My 1080p 27" MONITOR looks awesome unless you are sitting 30cm or less away from it which is too close.

      • Looks awesome compared to what?

If you had ever used a 2560x1440 27", then there's no way you would use the word 'awesome' for 1080p at 27".

Well that's a stupid comment mate ofc a higher resolution display would look better but that desn't doesnt make my opinion wrong.

        • @holden93:

          Yeah. It does.

In the future maybe you should run your comments through a spell checker and to also read them out loud before you post. This may prevent you from coming across as inhoherent as you do in all your posts, but sadly it won't make your opinions any more valid.

It looks like a good price for the monitor, but is it a deal if there is no stock showing in WA?

Hi Elzilcho - a good point I've changed the title to only list VIC for pickup.

  • I have a 1080p 27" monitor at work, (benq gw2760, not a tn screen) and I am surprised at how nice it is. I have a very expensive 23" Samsung IPS at home (few years old) and whilst it is not quite as good with colour there is nothing wrong with 1080p over 27", unless you really want to crank up the features in a game.

You are mistaken. Firstly the lower the resolution the more you can 'crank up the details' in a game, not the other way around.

Secondly, 1080p on a 27" has a very low pixel pitch being about the same as 1024x768 on a 17" monitor from 15+ years ago. You may be fine with it, but anyone with decent eye sight should steer very clear of such low PPI monitors.

      Horrible ppi for monitors:
      ~75ppi 1024x768 @ 17"
      ~80ppi 1920x1080 @ 27"

      Acceptable ppi for monitors:
      ~92ppi 1920x1080 @24"
      ~110ppi 2560x1440 @27"

Sorry, I just own a 27" @1080p, so my experience is only first hand. Your figures are very impressive, measurebation at its best:)
I would be more concerned about it being a tn rather than IPS but it depends on your use.

I must re-educate my thinking, I always thought 1440 lines would show more detail than 1080 for a given image. I might drag out my old 768 line monitor to see if I can handle the extreme detail.

I will also get my eyes tested again, 20/20 is so last century.

Lower resolution = easier for your graphics card to 'crank up the features'.

It's ok though, I realise that if you didn't get the pixel pitch thing (and subjectively think that 80PPI is acceptable for productivity use) that you probably wouldn't get that either.

You should get onto that eye test straight away. It's possible that low resolution has deteriorated your eye sight to the point of not being able to see or read what you even write!

  • Thanks, bought one, this is just what I needed! :) TV died the other day and I didn't have a monitor for my gaming PC yet.

  • Any chance for a deal on the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q monitors again? :)
