150 QFF Points Per Diner, Can Be Stacked with AMEX-SS and Entertainment-Book Vouchers: TRIFECTA

400

Until the end of the year, you can get 150 QFF points per diner seated, if you book online via the above link. Thousands of restaurants are participating/included on the (searchable) QFF-dining list. The good thing about this otherwise pretty ordinary offer is it can be stacked with both the AMEX 'Shop Small' $10 back, and voucher/s from the 'Entertainment Book' (EB), at restaurants where all three things happen to be applicable.

I live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, so I went through the relevant sections of the EB (just the 'northern suburbs' sections; not the much larger CBD sections), and identified those where all three things apply, by searching for each one on both the QFF and the AMEX-SS websites. I found 8, which I have capitalised in the lists below. I’ve also listed those that are both in the EB and part of AMEX-SS, but not part of the QFF offer, as other kind posters have done for numerous places, in the main AMEX-SS thread; because stacking these two offers alone can make a meal for two almost free at various places! I’ve done a complete search of the three ‘Northern Suburbs’ lists in the Melbourne EB. If anyone else identifies any other places in any section of any of the EBs for any city, where all three offers apply, please post them here. Perhaps we can get a bit of a list going.

"To earn 150 Qantas Points per diner you must 1) book your reservation at qantas.com/restaurants; (2) book and dine between 4 November 2014 – 31 December 2014 (Promotion Period) and; (3) quote your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number and name (as it appears on your Qantas Frequent Flyer account) when making your reservation."

  • Just a warning that sometimes the bonus points don't post - I've had this happen at several restaurants in Adelaide. Pays to retain a screenshot and documentation if you want to follow up to claim the points.

  • I don't live in melbourne to take advantage of this but have a +ve for all your stellar sleuthing work! A person after my own heart :)

    • +2

You don't need to live in Melbourne - it's nationwide (essentially any restaurant supported via the Dimmi booking system, which Qantas uses).

Just did a search of the Canberra restaurants, a few of them are also in the Entertainment book however of course it was the fairly pricey ones such as the Boat House.

  • kudos for the effort, well done OP. I live in Sydney's Northern Beaches and have scored the trifecta recently dining at 'De Vita' in Manly - best Napoli pizza around.

Used this a couple of times in the psat. It uses the dimmi booking system and the overall website is very flakey.
Last booking I made, I arrived and they didn't have my booking onhand.

    • +1

Had this problem too. I've given up on Dimmi.

      • +1

I personally only had positive experiences with Dimmi. And then there's the guarantee: http://www.dimmi.com.au/links/terms-and-conditions

Booking Guarantee: In the event that you make a booking through Dimmi, but the restaurant loses, misplaces or simply cannot accommodate the booking through direct fault of its own, then the restaurant agrees to provide you with a complimentary meal for two (to the maximum value of $50.00.) This only applies in instances when the booking cannot be honoured. This does not include situations when the restaurant does not have record of your booking but is still able to accommodate you. Requests should be put in writing to [email protected]

They never responded to my emails sent via their website. They even saw my complaint in a thread here and ignored it (responded to other comments). So, sorry, from my perspective it's a poor business with non-existent support. I don't trust the company, nor that "guarantee" as a result.

        • @Gav: Wow that sounds bad. So far the only contact I had with someone at Dimmi was with one of their IT guys who was very quick in fixing an issue I reported after they revamped their website. I guess it is easier to write nice guarantees on a website than actually implementing them…

That said, I made about 40 bookings over the last 2 years and all but 2 were honoured. For those 2 the restaurants called me ahead of time and were very apologetic, one closed on short notice due to a death in the family, the other had accidentally taken a booking for a day/time they were closed.

So far all my Dimmi bookings were honored. Admittedly I only tried them about 5 times so far so my sample size is small. I also got the bonus points they offered during their last promo a few months ago.

  • Dilemma. Booked dinner for tmr using Dimmi. Should I cancel that and use this instead. I got qantas FF membership but I never used it. Is 150 points a good deal?

    • +2

Depends on what you use your points for. I personally find the 2000 dimmi points per booking (1000 for booking, 1000 for a review) are much more useful. 8000 points earn a $50 meal voucher. That equates to $12.50 per booking - albeit only usable in selected restaurants. 150 Qantas points have a cash value of about $1.

      • Cheers. I will stick with Dimmi then. I don't use qantas FF pts anyway. Actually I have zero points lol

      • I was unaware of the 'Dimmi points' scheme (1000 Dimmi-points per booking + 1000-Dimmi-points per review); that seems a great scheme! I note with interest that many of the places affiliated with the QFF scheme are not affiliated with the Dimmi scheme, and vice-versa; only very few places are actually affiliated with BOTH schemes.

I suppose it's worth reiterating that the QFF points awarded under the QFF-scheme are 'per diner', whereas the straight-up (direct) Dimmi deal is per booking/review. So depending on what you value more, for a couple of peeps it would probably be better to go for the direct Dimmi booking (assuming you planned to write a review), but otherwise/ for 5 or 6 peeps or more, the QFF deal may be more advantageous.

        • True, for group bookings I too would rather have the QF points. Guess my perspective was skewed by too many bookings for 2 people…

I am surprised about your observation with different restaurants listed on Qantas/vs Dimmi, I was under the impression that Qantas dining was just a re-branded Dimmi. I will need to check that out!

        • It pays to check out which restaurants you can redeem your Dimmi voucher at through the 'Dimmi points' scheme. In Adelaide, for example, there are only two restaurants you can use the $50 voucher at. Both are top end dining venues where mains average over $40 a pop. So for me, it has always made more sense to book via QFF.

        • Yes it would seem a big group would be better off with QFF booking. For the restaurant I went to last nite, both types of booking schemes were available.

        • @adelee: noted. I'm in Sydney. There are quite afew restaurants where the voucher will be valid. Haven't tried it out yet but some of the ones on the list look ok. I believe I have a year before the voucher expires so plenty time.

      • This is a poor offer from Qantas compared to Dimmi - I was only offered 100 points per diner which could be less than a $1 incentive.

As mentioned below, Dimmi's incentive is $12.50 in points which far trumps Qantas. I have had very poor service from Dimmi though and their points take a very very very long time to be credited (over a month).

        • "I was only offered 100 points per diner which could be less than a $1 incentive."

If you read the TCs carefully, 100 QFF per diner are given by one party, then a further 50 per diner are given by another; a total of 150 per diner. Re Dimmi's incentive being "$12.50 in points", it actually depends how much value you place on a $50 voucher to eat at a very limited number of highly-priced restaurants, which can only be redeemed on certain days of the week, and not on public holidays, and not if there's and event on, etc… Also, that $12.50 figure assumes that you are willing to write four restaurant reviews, for no remuneration other than a voucher, which is evidently of fairly limited use potential.
Some may prefer, say, 900 QFF points from a booking for 6, rather than Dimmis points. Consider Adelaidians, who only have a total of 2, evidently highly-priced restaurants they can redeem their "Dimmis vouchers" at… If you lived a fair clip from both, you might well be prefer the QFF points. Also, as note above, if you use the QFF points for actual flights or upgrades the value is $1.00 per 100 points or more, depending on when/what you buy.

  • For people who are unfamiliar with qantas points, how much are qantas points worth?

    • If converted to gift cards for use at Woolworths, 150 points is worth $1.

If you fly or upgrade flights, the value is higher.

Unfortunately your post is a bit unclear re what you've actually done and/or are intending or trying to do lee.

Are you intending to use a $50 voucher that you've earned via the Dimmi booking/review system, at a place called "Mantra" (what state?), in conjunction with a 'shopadocket', or are you referring to an Entertainment-Book voucher, and/or the QFF booking scheme that is linked to Dimmi, and/or the AMEX Shop-Small scheme etc… ?

Unfortunately you have not supplied enough details for anyone to be able to comment meaningfully on your 'question', much less actually provide an accurate answer to it. If you can describe (from the start) what you are trying to do/achieve, I'm sure you will get the answers you seek, or at least some good advice on how to get them.

    • OK peeps I don't care at all if you want to neg me for making a genuine attempt to clarify exactly what this guy was actually asking; but at least after negging me, please make an effort to help this guy? I assume from your negs that you have understood his questions perfectly. So why not answer them?

  • we went to Brandon Hotel tonight but they don't accept Amex. Don't know whether Amex will honor the $10 rebate or not. will try to call them.
