  • Also WWE2k15. Offer valid until the games come out, I guess!

  • Do they still offer the $10 on pre-orders?

Edit: Nvm just saw the normal price $69

  • +3

Yup, gonna put down 10 for GTA V and Far Cry 4 when I pick up Master Chief!!! That first person view for GTA V has me sold beyond words and Far Cry is Far Cry!!!

    • +2

Me too mate! Gonna be like a new game.

      • +1

Yea I know right, I just found out yesterday and man do the videos and screenshots look crazy, I felt like crying… man I can't believe how many insane games have come out at the end of this year! I can't keep up!!!

    • +1

how much did you pre-order MCC for?

      • I've put down 10 and pretty sure they will charge me 49 to bring it up to 59 as that is what happened with Horizon 2, they did give me a further ten off on top of everything as the shipment was delayed, however I think it was just a special case, expecting MCC to be 60 all up!

    • I've been playing GTAV in "FPS view" for nearly a year - at least for driving. I always switch to bonnet view, then I believe it or not, drive slowly - and just take in the sights, it's very very immersive like this, especially using the second thumbstick to look both ways at traffic.

Very nice to go up for a cruise in the mountains at night in that view - it's only gonna be better in the PS4 edition.

  • why does it have to be in store only, damn you DSE

  • How do you preorder at DSE? Like ebgames?

    • +1

Just tell them game and platform, they put in ID details into system and ask for mobile number. You need to put down ten and they give you a receipt. Just show that on release and they take include ten you payed for final price.

    • Go in store, leave a $10 deposit along with your details.

      • Do they actually hold a copy aside for you?

Or will I potentially get screwed over on launch day?

        • +1

          A decent store will yes.

        • +2

@Where's_That_Cake: So you mean 'no'? ;)

        • The store at Warrawong sticky tapes a copy of your pre-order receipt to the front of your copy of the game (this has your details on it). Top staff in that store, never had an issue when dealing with the staff there.

I'm sure there's stores which don't follow any system though, so YMMV depending on the store.

  • +3

wait for their inevitable 20% off sale probably be in the next 7 days

    • +3

But they don't include gaming stuff in them anymore :(

      • Nah it's a special only on games, where have you been the past month?

    • +1

$59 if you pre-order vs $55 if you hope and get lucky with a 50% sale in time. I know which one I'll go for.

  • +1

Not preordering from DSE again, they took 2 weeks to get Forza Horizon 2. Just pricematch on release date elsewhere and get the game.

    • +15

Shadow of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive & Call of Duty all pre ordered from DSE. All received on release date.

      • +3

Same for me, I was really happy. And when I wasn't there to pick it up it got sent to a nearby distribution centre that you can pick up parcels until 8 pm, rather than the local post office

    • +3

MY COD Pre order was sent on Friday and I got it Monday
So I am happy to use them again.

    • Was this a pickup or delivery situation? This does admittedly have me quite worried personally :/

      • Pick up is safest, launch day for me on many titles

    • My Horizon 2 was a couple of days late, but they gave me an extra $10 off so it only cost $49 all up. I'm happy with that…

      • Physical or mail?

      • In store - Pitt St Mall Sydney.

Hoping it happens again for GTAV and Halo. ;)

        • F.that, I want it cheap but a couple of days? $10? Nope, that's 2 coffees, I am expecting mine to be in Swanston St on Launch day

        • Haha, I have so many unfinished games at the moment I'm really not in that big a rush!

        • @hamwhisperer: grow up, my son. if you have extra money, you can always choose to donate it to the people that really need it.

    • I went in store on release date of sunset overdrive last week and checked they had it in stock and then preordered it for $10 off normal price. The girl told me it was only for pre release date but I showed her the catalogue and asked her to show me where it said that - catalogue ran for at least another week- and said I am still preordering I'll pick it up tomorrow. She let me have it there and then for the $10 off price. Win!

    • Yeah my Forza took about two weeks but for COD AW & Sunset Overdrive they were pretty quick, i guess it depends how much stock they bothered to order initially.

    • took them 2 weeks to get me a FIFA that i order with CLick & Collect and was "IN stock"

got a call the next day saying there was in fact NO stock.

2 weeks later I had to call and check to see if they had a copy.

      Never again with DSE

  • What about HALO arghhhhh

    • It works for Halo - they have massive posters in store advertising the sale price.

      Just ordered it.

  • Is gtaV meant to be MA15+ or is that just an error for some reason?

  • My local EB Games let's me price match these deals, usually go in and pre-order the game, and show them the catalogue, and they will put a little note on the order. Sometimes have to show the catalogue again when I pick it up, but always get these games for $60 from EB. Don't have to deal with DS sometimes not getting stock, and get the EB World points plus the 7 day return.

    • +2

lucky you, mine will price match the release price but not the $10 bonus for preordering

      • +2

yup, same here. my EB does not price match pre-order prices :(

        • EB's twitter feed says they do price match DSE preorders.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: link please. I'll print that out.

        • @Scipio:
It was replied to an EB customer on EB's twitter and linked to (at Whirlpool) multiple times during the run in to Destiny release. No offense but I'm not running through EB's twitter or the PS4 Destiny thread at WP but some googling might find you the link.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: i got a reply from EB via twitter, they only price match if competitor has stock.

        • @ctrlaltdel: In the case of Destiny they said preorder from them and they will match the price upon pick up.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: yup, had the price match, but they are not doing it anymore.

  • What should I pre-order Assassins creed unity or far cry 4?

    • +2

      Both!

    • +1

      Far Cry 4

    • +1

FC4. I'm still stinging after the letdown that was ACIII.

  • +2

why no Little Big Planet 3 pre-order? :(

    • I still cant find a decent price for LBP3 :(

      • yeah I think I'm going to cave and pay for a digital copy on my US PSN+ account. saves about $20 off the local prices, but doesn't have all the pre-order costumes (not really fussed over that)

    • +4

Because most people would rather play the game when it releases then save money. If your main priority is saving money, then you don't really care about gaming

      • +2

Agreed, plus $60 is a steal. Other big retailers have them for $80-$120 on release, and 6 months down the track dick smith no longer sell it or even if they do they're generally still above $50.
I'm trying to limit myself to 3 atm which is assassins creed, far cry and GTA V. All of which I price matched at EB at $59 each :D

        • +4

          EB price matched?

I've had terrible experiences trying to get them to price match - has to be in the same shopping complex, in stock and not on clearance. Given up on shopping with them

    • +5

Can buy it around 50-60 on release, finish the game and sell it back for up to 50$ on ebay /gumtree ( within few weeks of game release) playing for free :D

    • I am just asking as I thought that there might be some clever trick that I have missed…
I guess this is for those that can finish the game within a week.

      It is a valid question.

      • Not just within a week, 1 month should be fine the price don't drop that quick for ps4/xbox one new releases.

        • Yeah the the software prices for current gen titles are not yet to the point where they drop quickly unfortunately.

  • I've ordered mine at the DSE near the Telstra shop in Melbourne, seems to be the biggest DSE, not a huge gaming section but reasonable size for Melb.
Vic Gardens would've been better for me but I don't think they do much gaming.

    Good price tho.

    • Vic gardens is my local. So far I have got wolfenstein, watch dogs and last of us from them. They are actually pretty good. Have called me for each one on release day to pick them up.

      • No crap? I got the impression they didn't get much stock of this stuff? I'll keep it in mind.

        • They have crap all stock. But if you preorder, they'll get it in no problem.

        • @cooleagles: But dude, I need launchday or bust, the risk of ordering for a store which only gets 3 copies, so they are just skipped, I couldn't deal!

    • Took at least 4+ days for them to have NBA 2K15 for PS4 in stock… so I didn't bother picking up my pre-order with them. I still have $10 down with them so I might swap it over to GTA V.. no rush to pick that up.

  • Wait is Halo: MCC still up for the same deal in-store? I was gonna do that today.

    • +1

Just went and pre-ordered Halo MCC and GTAV - both were the reduced price of $59. There are massive posters in store advertising Halo pre-order on sale.

      • Cheers man, gonna put a pre-order down now.

        • Can confirm Halo: MCC is $59 pre-order, in-store.

  • +1

My Local DSE store is closing down >.>

  • Does anyone know if Little Big Planet is included in this??

  • I was deciding whether or not to pre-order but as I saw this post and happened to walk past a DSE while shopping for something else, I thought what the hell. Looking forward to Unity especially since it's only released on the next gen consoles and won't be held back by the previous gen.

  • If you go in store to preorder, do they still deliver it to your house or do you have to go pick it up on the day?

  • +3

sigh….I need to stop visiting this site.

You are evil OzBargain! Stop taking my money!

  • +1

how much is the pc version of gta v going to be?

  • Does anyone know if the JB Hi Fi Music voucher for 20% off are still active?

I got JB hi Fi to price match for $69 for Shadows of Mordor then used the voucher to get it for $55 a few weeks back

    • +1

It worked for me on Monday when I picked CoD up so it should still be going.

      • Awesome cheers, was this in WA

Might pick up Master Chief collection on the day then and save the extra $5 :)

        • +1

In QLD but I would imagine it would be the same across the board.

    • I heard the voucher no longer works anymore. I just started a Music trial and didn't get the email although they still advertise it on their website.

      • It was just a generic barcode for everyone so that shouldn't be an issue, man problem, would be if the stores no longer accept it

  • Sweeeeet! Will pre-order GTA V at the local store tomorrow. Farcry 4 seems so enticing as well ;((((

  • +1

Just called JB-HI-FI to see if they would price match on release day.
I got informed that head office have sent an email stating they no longer price match Next Gen Items. This includes consoles / accessories or Games.

I then called another JB-HI-FI and was told they do. I then asked if the other store I called was telling the truth about the email and they refused comment.

    What I know so far;

JB HI FI isn't franchised but sales reps are on commission.
JB HI FI Head office wants an email from me so they can direct that at the appropriate person within head office for an explanation.

Has anyone else had issues price matching as they simply state "It's below cost price" when we clearly know it's not?

I will keep this updated after hearing back from head office. It seems every customer is provided a different level of customer service depending on which store they go to. Has anyone else experienced this?

So long for "Lowest prices guaranteed" which once was JB HI FI's slogan.

It's also safe to say that the staff are willing to lie to increase commissions at JB HI FI.

    • +4

With JB, I can almost always get something price matched. I have bought everything from TVs, cameras, tablets, computer accessories, games, blu-rays etc and I always get them price matched.

I do notice that when it comes to price matching at JB, it can depend on the salesperson or the stores themselves. If I want to price match something at the registers, they usually just check with the store managers. And on the rare chance that they refuse to price match, I just check other JB stores. I work in Sydney CBD and it has 3 JB stores within walking distance.

I also noticed that if I have a catalogue or a printout or a website in hand showing the prices I am trying to match, they will always match it.

While their normal everyday prices aren't the lowest, I'm willing to shop with them because of price matching. But I also think that one should try to shop at the stores offering the lowest prices in the first place to encourage them in offering similar prices in the future, not to mention that they are making money off you and not some other stores benefiting from the sale.

    • I believe with JB that there is no staff commission for games/games hardware sales, nor is there for CDs or DVDs.

  • I asked one of the EBs near me but the guy was being a dick about it, telling me "how can we price match something that's not out yet? Do dick smith have a copy already?". Might try another one, but all the ones around me have usually been a bit anal about preorders.

    • +5

You should have responded, if you can preorder (basically purchase something that's not out yet), then you should be able to price-match it. I no longer shop at EB because of their atrocious prices and generally poor service (there are exceptions). I know EB advocates will respond "but you can price match!" but I'd rather give my business to the store that originally provided the deal so that they are able to provide great deals in the future.

  • Does anyone know if we get the same pre-order perks other stores are offering with GTAV and WWE2K15?

Other stores are advertising $1M in game money for GTA pre order and with 2K15 you get bonus characters. Thanks!

  • +1

So GTA-V are re-releasing the same game but in First Person and charging $$$$$$ for it ???????

    Am I missing something???

    • +4

It's been updated for the new consoles. Improved graphics and should run at a better framerate, more activities and vehicles, more music. Plus more stuff.

Better value than the Last of Us was when it was upgraded for the PS4

  • I just went and preordered GTA V. I asked about Little Big Planet and he said they don't have a pre-order code for it yet, but should fall under the same deal, so if they are still running it when they actually start selling pre-orders, it should be sweet.

  • +1

Just ordered GTA V and FC4. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Great find OP! Just preordered GTA V and Dragon Age today :)
