the kingston v300 is infamous for being shonky but hey, its a $59 ssd… cant expect much

  • Yeah an SSD that operates at HDD speeds apparently.

    • really? thanks almost bought.
probably will just stick with EVO 256GB if i want to get ssd, hopefully next year price is $80-90

'hdd speed' is an exaggeration but you are pretty much better off with any other ssd for a little bit more money

i have a pile of $65-$75 ssds i use for testing but wouldnt buy the above

Iops/seek time is what is more important though. Any spinning will be lagging compared to solid state

I upgraded an old core duo laptop from a hard drive to v300. I can't disagree more, the speed increase I saw was phenomenal. Now it might be true that its the slowest sad going around, but it still absolutely craps on the 7200rpm laptop drive that was previously in there (an old one albeit)

It used to be a famous SSD until they use a inferior NAND flash. For the total of $69, I will not not buy this drive when can get Samsung 840 EVO for $75 from MSY

  • It says 'Freight from 12.95' on the linked product page, not 9.95

  • from 12.95 is for other products, you will see it is 9.95 as you progress through checkout. W1

no deal, free shipping may consider as a deal. Poor performance SSD

    • +1

Is it called that because after you buy it you say "I need an SSD now?"

  • Bought this for $45 shipped during the ebay sales. Boot up speed is 13secs for my HTPC and im reasonably satisfied at transfer speeds.

    • It's because it's low seek time of SSD that helps for an operating system.

Whatever the reason, it does what it needs to do for a low price.

  • I have one and I am very happy with it, Performance of the PC is affected not by the HDD alone, motherboard, RAM and other on board components working together.

I expect that people complaining about the speed of this ssd have either very high specific needs or are too hung up on reviews and comparisons. Note that just about everyone posting who actually owns one is happy with it.

  • this brand/model is the only SSD ive ever sent back under warranty

i got a new one in return, but took forever

    no performance issues

    • So i take it you never owned an OCZ Vertex 2 SSD?. Those were notorious for failures.

  • any other shipment method. the express post is a bit expensive.

  • in case experience counts for anything, beware of this drop shipper! your sanity with thank you
