Pretty straight forward. Buy Office 365, get $25 bucks back from Micro$oft.
Saw this deal when having a stroll through Harvey Norman today. Google search revealed a website dedicated to the cashback offer.

Don't' forget that Microsoft are offering 'unlimited' Onedrive storage for Office 365 subscribers. (It appears they have been rolling out 10TB and if you need more just email Microsoft and they will give you more).

Market price at the moment is about $99 bucks. A search on Staticice shows lower but almost all the vendors want to charge 10-20 freaking bucks for SHIPPING. (W…T…F…).
Lowest I've seen thus far here is $75. I'm hoping for a price war around Christmas.

  • Do they still have a deal for students? Can you get extra cash back on top of that deal? That would make it a pretty good deal I think

    • Wasn't there a purchase (non-rent per year Office 365) version of Office, for ~$25 for uni students, staff (eg, in NSW)?

Renting Office 365 is like renting textbooks, IMO.

We used to pay $99 for Office, with license for 3 PCs or Mac boxes.

      Go OpenSource!

      • Totally agree.

MS are really pushing the subscription model - maybe due to piracy? The full version of Office for students (2013 Home & Student) can only be installed on a single PC while Office 365 can be installed on 5!

$119 at Dick Smith (with the RELAX20 code) for the full version which you can only install on one PC is still a bit steep :-)

    • Depending on your university you can get software really cheaply or free. Google your uni name with OnTheHub, Dreamspark or Microsoft office.

      • And if your uni uses Office 365 for email, you should be able to use the five licenses issued to you via the Office 365 Settings page.

        • Depends on your uni, mine only has email.

    Don't forget this condition.

    Excludes Office 365 University.

      Right, thanks.

To be honest…even at full retail of $119, $94 for the unlimited cloud storage for 5 accounts is a pretty sweet deal.
I have a full version of Office already ($15 through the M$ Home Use Program from work) and I'm mainly going to get it for the cloud storage.

Not quite sweet enough for OzB but untouchable price wise when compared to any other offering out there.

    • Do office 365 on home use program. Do you have the link. Thx

        • just realise my work email qualify as well, is this $15 for the full version Key? ie NOT the one year subscription that need renew every year correct? Thanks in advance

        • Thanks for the link, I have just purchased the home use professional version with less than $10, from the NZ link.

However, does this mean I will have to use my work email address to access the OneDrive storage? It seems like they only provided me with a 32bit installation link while I actually want to install the 64bit version.

          Thanks,

@OZGE: It is Office 2013 pro plus, not office 365, so you can't subscribe it.

    • HUP office doesn't have cloud functionality though. $15 for a different version of Office (Office 2013).

With the relax20 code and $25 rebate, you can get Office 365 from Dickies for $54 + $4.95 delivery.

    • Oooh…forgot about that.

      On.
      My.
      Way.

My price point was $75 but I'm happy to give up 5.99 to jump on this now.
Purchased! Thanks a lot for that reminder.

    • Got one. Thanks for the hint.

Can't you just buy it again? That's what I was planning to do when renewal comes up in a month

        • Yes, you can. I've done this before. It was a bit problematic the first time, but they seem to have fixed the issue I was having in the past.

I'm a student, and don't want to spend any money :S

…so I've been using some alternatives for the past few months.

I've found the best alternative (my opinion based on my use) to Microsoft Word, that is

        1. free
        1. As versatile and useful as Microsoft Word.

It's called LibreOffice. My full review at The AmigoTips

I had to use LibreOffice for VCE IT: Applications this year. It was painful. Office bowls it over easily.

Thanks for reminding me that I can uninstall it now! :)

    • Snagged one @ $58.95 delivered so happy (no DSE click/collect on this product)! - saw the Officeworks Pricematch and CPL comments below however from my rural location I would spend $30 petrol to collect. Thanks for your hint!

  • Got one, thanks.

Only discounted for the first year subscription then?

    • I have the same question, how to renew it?

    • It's auto-renewal so probably need to put CC details in at activation. 2nd year onwards: $119/yr

EDIT: See below comment from ETB. Just buy heaps of cheap licence codes.

  • office365 from ds is for one year or life? and how does this work with onedrive?

  • Does this qualify?

    • I'm pretty sure it will because there is a drop down menu option to choose an 'other' retailer.

      • make sure you know the difference between "Home" and "Personal" versions of this software.

"Home" gives you 5 installs, and "Personal" gives you only ONE (there can be only one)

  • iOS versions of Word, Excel & maybe PowerPoint are Free (except when you consider the cost of the, eg, iPad Air)

Hopefully this answers a few questions people are asking about office 365 renewal,

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/DisplayO365H…

The main thing to note is when its on special, buy it & add it to your current subscription, it will just extend you current subscription. I was told when doing microsoft training for work there is no limit on license keys to add. so if you plan on always using office 365, top up. Hope this helps.

  • As you purchase this, remember to download the free trial for a month first!

nice idea, but remember to activate & submit claim before 31Dec

Just got home premium 365 for $75 from Officeworks 5% price beat, so $50 after cash back

    • What did you price match it with?

  • Dammit, if I only had a receipt

  • FYI everyone. Just got my card today (Ordered from Dick Smith) and received this message:

"The Product Key entered has not been Activated. Without an Active Product Key you cannot retrieve your product. Product Keys can only be activated at the store where Office was purchased. Return to the store with your receipt of proof of purchase to activate your Product Key."

So..I guess I know where I'll be going tomorrow. LOL.
A bit of a pain that the card doesn't come activated but I get it. This will be something M$ is going to have to work out. Especially considering you can pre-purchase and 'stack' your keys.
What's the point of ordering online if you have to walk into a store to activate each of your cards????

Doesn't matter, Dick's has some headphones I need to buy while I'm there anyway.

    • Got my card today too, but they stuck a receipt with "*Activation Successful" on it, with the card number in the packaging.

Maybe they forgot to put it in yours?

      • I probably got 'The new guy' in the warehouse. Glad it was only me

  • Home Premium now $85 at MSY, Personal $67. Product comparison here.

  • I can't believe how few people have registered for this; I just did and my receipt number is less than 400
