An Australian made educational app and they can't even spell "colour" correctly.

    • Also misspelt "noughts and crosses" as "tic tac toe" :D

And 'australian' should be 'Australian' - with a capital 'A'.

If you'd said "An Australian app that uses US spelling is not very Australian", I'd be happier with that comment - but wrong is subjective…

To be fair, many people have suggested to standardise English, which includes accepting known (not wrong, but known) variants of words, eg. Learned vs learnt.

If you look at history, there were a few purges that tidied up many inconsistencies in English. I'd suggest we need another to fix many remaining problems and inconsistencies.

I don't say col "our" (as in "col is our friend"). What most of us say is most probably closest to "col or", like the US spelling.

Taking a firm stand that "we, Australia, have it right" will harm our chances of fixing what is broken. If there was a recognised international English, I'd use that ahead of Australian, UK or US English.

TL;DR Australian apps should have Australian spelling for now. Wrong is subjective…

You do realise the Australian English spelling originates from UK English, which is where… um… English came from right?

US English spelling is the one that has gone off the beaten path.

  • thanks guys will def forward these improvements to the owner :-) the app is now free to download
