For $250 I'd expect an IPS display.

    • This review says the Acer Iconia W4-820 has an IPS screen:

So I assume the stock oo.com.au got their hands on is the same model but has somehow had screens replaced with an inferior TFT LCD to reduce costs?

      • yes, after being a regular reader of notebookcheck you learn quickly that European versions of same model almost always have better screens/ssd/video etc their market is way bigger and so negotiate better specs

I had an Acer Iconia A500 tablet, while it was ok, the power adapter is really bad. The charger tip into the tablet snapped very early on, and looks like it's not an isolated case. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338286

This experience has left me rather wary of Acer tablets now.

EDIT: it appears this W4 uses a micro-USB charger, which should be better.

  • Is this sold out? Can't seem to find it on the website

    • You might be better off buying one of the ThinkPad 8s on ShoppingExpress (deal posted yesterday). It's only about $80 more and it has a way better screen, faster clock on cpu, double the storage, better build quality and comes with an official case.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive. :-)
