Think its a one off as this is in sydney

    • Dang - wish this was next weekend.

  • Lol you have to pay to get into your own parks in NSW?

National Parks often have a vehicle access fee. Entry by foot, bicycle (and sometimes motorcycle) are free. State Forests are always free to enter and camp as long as you do so safely and without interfering with logging operations.

In SA we pay camping fees in our Forests as well as our National Parks..TRENT86 you pay for park entry in Western Australia http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/know/park-entry-fees and expensive camping fees compared to other states http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/know/camping-fees

        • I've never paid to go into a park here and I've been to probably over 50 different ones and that includes ones in karinjini national park so I don't know why they say we are meant to because who do we pay

        • @TRENT86:
          From: http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/know/fees
Entry to many of our parks and to use most of the facilities provided is free of charge. Where fees do apply, funds go directly to conservation programs and to develop and maintain facilities.

Changes to a range of park entry, camping and attraction fees came into effect on 1 October 2013.

Holders of the following Australian issued cards are entitled to concession rate fees:

          Seniors Card
          Age Pension
          Disability Support
          Disability Support (Blind)
          Carer Payment
          Carer Allowance
          Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)
          Companion Card

Usually paying for parks helps paths to be maintained, access roads, showers, toilets, bbq's. I'm in NSW and I've seen many campers do a runner before 10am to avoid paying a fee, sometimes the rangers don't work on weekends so it's quite hard to find someone to pay, sometimes the only way would be to call them on the next working day and pay over the phone. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

Someone needs to maintain those national parks. That costs money, mate

      • +7

Yes and my 47% income tax and GST on everything should cover it…

Maintain what, national parks are natural parks with no need to do anything but empty the bins and clean toilets

        • How is the revenue from annual passes used?
Because we want to make your visits to national parks more pleasurable, revenue from annual passes goes towards the maintenance and improvement of visitor facilities and services.
This allows us to direct public funds to conservation work, such as:
          conserving threatened species
          carrying out pest control programs
          protecting sites of cultural significance.
This makes sure that the beauty and integrity of your national parks is sustained for everyone's enjoyment.
