Wondering if anyone can comment on whether it would be ok for (mostly) PS4 gaming out in the games room (fairly bright room).

dont forget a Sony mobile phone as well so you can play the PS4 games on your phone (with a playstation hand controller) pretty cool.

It's gone up in price by about $30 since I first posted this question.take a look around for second hand teles. Although plasma has a lower refresh rate, I picked up a 50pz800a panasonic (about 6 years old) for $300 off ebay. These used to be top of the line plasmas and I used to sell these things when I worked at JB for over $3000! One of my best buys.
Any TV with Full HD 1080P will suit a PS4. So if you are upgrading from an Xbox One you might want to upgrade your TV as well. 200htz refreash rate also helps
