All Samsonite Suitcases BOGOF Myer 15th November only

170

Credit to Trent86 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/169704 but I thought this deserves its own deal. With holidays coming I think this is perfect timing for them to run this deal.

I myself bought the new Lite-Locked 75cm spinners in white today from Sydney CBD Myers, they started the super saturday deal today after 7.30pm. Looks fantastic!

2 for $999 (-$50 from amex deal). Wish I had more AMEX cards to take advantage..
Dont forget to TRS it!

This is the new suitcase no longer use zippers! Most retailer don't have them listed online yet but it is available at Sydney City myer.

I'm excited to travel next month!

The most % discounted on samsonite suitcases were around 53-55% that I can recall, and those were selected models and grey imports sold by groupon or catchoftheday. You can't go wrong with this deal if you purchase the latest model as no brick and mortar store has ever discounted samsonite suitcases beyond 50%.

      To each their own though.

      • link?

  • Will you be able to TRS? Don't they need to physically spot the item? Not sure how plausible this if you need to check your bag.

    • yes you can TRS suitcases. Just classified as oversized or checked-in item.

"If you want to make a TRS claim for liquids, aerosols or gels that you are not able to take on board because of these limits, take your goods to the Customs and Border Protection Client Services counter before they are packed in your checked luggage and checked in with the airline.

This also applies to oversized items, like skis, snowboards and golf clubs and other goods that you will check in.

To find the location of the Customs and Border Protection counter, check the website of the airport where you will depart from Australia." http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4263.asp

Be warned Customs in Melb haven't been doing this lately afaik.

  • Does this apply to HighSierra as well? Samsonite purchased HighSierra a couple of years ago…

    • You might still find some in myer that has further 75% off. Final price is around $57 for a big 68 cm suitcase. The warranty is backed by samsonite

  • A grand for a suitcase? Thought I was on a bargain site…

    • No a grand for two suitcases.

  • So I wonder which Ipad is available with $50???

  • Is the only difference between Lite-Locked and Cosmolite FL the locking mechanism? It's also 0.8kg heavier and they want an extra $200…

Surely not having zips isn't that big of a deal, picked up a similar sized suitcase while I was in Manilla earlier this year that also uses a 3-point lock instead of zips and it only cost me $45.

I actually have the firelite x2 as well so I can't compare it to the cosmolite. It is $200 more than the firelite as well.

I don't think the cosmolite is waterproof, at least the older model wasn't when i bought my firelites and the lite-locked is waterproof.

Also the locking mechanism itself on the lite-locked is made really well. and while the rrp is $200 more compared to the older models, it is only $100 more each with this promo.

The only issue I had with samsonite was it being a zipper and you often see videos where people could break through the zip with a pen bypassing the zip completely. Now that they have fixed this issue, im pretty happy about it. Just wish they made it earlier.

      • I was weighing up a cosmolite vs metal frame one (similar price but big weight difference)… ended up with the metal frame samsonite mainly because of the ease of by passing a zip…

Being the smart person I am, I locked my spare key in the suitcase and lost the other key on holidays, having nothing to lose I tried to pick the lock on the suitcase (I have never picked a lock before then)… it took 2 paperclips and 5 mins…

After that incident I realised locks on suitcase are really there to stop opportunistic thieves, if they are dead set on getting into your luggage there isn't much you can do…

  • Anyone in Perth wanting to go halves in a Samsonite? Pref.. City or Karrinyup.

  • Is Samsonite that great? It looks like Antler is also on ~40% off, I was comparing cabin luggage, and the Antler seems a better deal as it is 500g lighter (when you can only carry 7kg I think everything counts!)

    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/home/suitcases/samsonite… 2.9 kilos, 32.5l capacity

    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/antler-214264810-2142650… 2.4 kilos, 45l capacity

    • I've used antler for awhile now and have had no complaints:

      http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/airstream-4-wheel-roller…

Is a great cary on option with some easy access pockets

    • Samsonite are great, but like many other brands, they price themselves based on what they spend in advertising in my opinion. I'd save the money and go Antler, Specially when it's carry on, they don't really get damaged. I like there red one.

    • I have this ; http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/samsonite-cosmolite-fl-h… but the older model where the zips don't go in like that. I regret purchasing it as I really can't fit much in.. i usually put in bulky jackets + laptop/ipad and that is it.

The problem with the cosmolite cabin luggage is inside is not flat and actually makes packing a little awkward.

I do not recommend the cabin suitcase.

  • I opted to get the 72 Hours luggage. I didn't even maximise my discount by getting something similar in price (shame on me). Instead I got a smaller carry on. Would have been cool to go halvies with someone on something similar
