          That new 3D screen makes the current one look like a beta build. That screen alone almost made me do the upgrade. Fully cranked I didn't feel my eyes bleed after 10mins of use and the increase in viewing angle is amazing. It's this generations DSi but a worthy upgrade to some people.

          Also your faster loading comment….wow please source because I'd be interested to see what forum you pulled that from.

      Ick.. this sucks. Big time. It's basically a shifty way to reduce the sticker price by $20, or increase the true price, depending on how you look at it.

      They're assuming you already have a 3DS or 2DS and can reuse that charger. But seriously, how many people buying a New 3DS already have the old one? Or rather, how many 'old' 3DS owners are going to buy a New 3DS? There's going to be some, but I'd wager a large majority of New 3DS purchasers don't already own a 3DS. Most people are going to have to shell out the extra $20.

          they're $15 RRP so you won't save $15 unless you get one for free.
          I wouldn't recommend getting a cheap chinese one, that's what I did and it stopped working.

          You'll have to check your charger. The iPhone amperage and voltage is close but not exactly the same. Did a google search to see if it's 'safe' and results came up positive.

        I've got a regular sized 3ds and was thinking about upgrading. Although I can't see many changes, so maybe I'll just wait for current gen XLs to go on clearance and get one of them. Someone told me that the 3D is improved? That's a feature I don't use anyway haha.

          Haha, exactly what a true OZB way. But keep in mind there will be some games exclusive for the new 3DS only.
          Have you compared the regular and XL side by side? I find out only the screen size is an upgrade but the resolution is a downgrade. Much like from original HD to XL SD. I have both the original and XL will wait for a real next gen handheld console from Nintendo and give this "new" a miss.

          Not resolution, the pixel density. But yes, it's pretty horrid for 3ds xl only having a PPI of 95. In comparison, the 3ds has 132 and even the 13 year old gameboy advance has 99.

          I'm still getting the xl for better battery though.

          I didn't use 3D in my 3DS because tilting it slightly (which you need to do for motion controls) broke the 3D effect.

          Now that you have much wider viewing angles, I might actually use it with the New 3ds..

      I heard the EU 3DS never include a charger in the first place so i guess Nintendo won't think AU consumers find it unusual without a charger included like we never expect one from an iPod etc. yeah but like lostn said no USB cable included either is kindof funny.
      I wonder if in future we will be buying a new car without a battery or 4 wheels included when the car manufacturers expect us to use the 4 wheels and batteries from our old cars. Let's see how bad it can get.

        Ipod port is propriety but they had included usb cable to charge on the pc..

        If the port was not propriety then I can use a standard mini usb cable, but since it is not,
        I will need to buy nintendo's official charger or a cheap ebay one (that can explode)

      I know it SEEMS bad, but everyone benefits from this.

      I'm sure nintendo did this to be more 'environmental' than evil. Saves packaging and potentially wasted things, I think the dsi charger works with this too so it's not just 3ds.

        They did it to cut costs for themselves. Don't kid yourself.

        Samsung, Apple, Sony, Microsoft, HTC, you name it. Whatever gadget you buy will come with its own charger. Doesn't matter if you already have one. If it's expected to be in the box as an essential item, it will be included.

        If Nintendo really wanted to be environmental, they would go digital only. But that would cost them sales won't it? At the end of the day, it's all about the bottom line.

        They get to charge you an extra $20 for an official one, unless you want to wait 3 weeks for an el cheapo chinese cable. And yes, they are charging you $20 to get the full package, not saving you $20 by not making you pay for it. When was the last time Nintendo released a product at a $220 RRP? People like 'nice' numbers like $149, $199, $249, etc.. $220 or $219 is a lot less common. That means its real RRP is more likely $199, but they get to charge you an extra $20 for the AC adapter.

      EB can be iffy about matching bundles, especially if it's one they are not offering. Can't hurt to ask. If not then they should be able to match just the XL console for $229 (Targets price).

          When you get to level 4 you realise how pointless the whole thing is unless you trade in lots. No real benefits at all except the 20% extra on trade ins but its still usually better to sell the games on ebay.

      EB change their price matching policies depending on the day or weather or what they feel like.

      With the Target Mario Kart 8 Wii U Basic Bundle and JB Bayonetta 2 20% coupon discount, EB didn't want to budge.

      When I bought the MK8 Wii U and Bayonetta 2 from the other stores, I went back to the EB store and walked around the store with the cheaper goods and made sure I was in the sightline of the EB stooge who didn't want to price match.

    does this version come with the japanese internet adult content filter? in the japanese version you needed to pay 30cents to unlock the filter.

    another know if the australian version have the filter and if so how do I unlock it? im an adult and I want to browse adult content with my New 3DS.

        Instead of judging me on something that we all secretly do here, how about help each other out and find out if the aus version of the 3DS has the adult filters and what is the process of unlocking it so we can all enjoy our 3DS to it's full functionaility

          Have you actually looked online yourself first? If you have and can't find anything then I guess you will have to wait until it's out here and find out. I didn't even know such thing existed on the 3ds personally.

          Edit: One quick google and I found the answer on vooks, so i'm guessing you didn't look. FWIW then, yes it will cost 50cents to unlock, although it didn't filter google images anyway.

Pretty sure you won't hurt your mum's feelings that bad if you just watch the trailer like a regular adult. Also you made it sound like you wanted to use your 3ds for real adult content, not for gaming.

          On Android phones, run Chrome Browser and use new incognito tab as it has no browser history, no cookie store or search history. Your normal windows will keep its history as if you are viewing normal websites.

    Can confirm BIG W doesn't do preorders and EB won't match the bundle.

    Seriously as much as I'd rather buy from EB (because you can hold stock) I won't be because they are so scummy. I used to work there 5 years ago, and we used to match bundles because it was fair and you keep the customer happy and you keep the sale. Now they don't give a damn.

    Support Big W and Target you should be ok with stock with at least one of the stores.

    Thanks for the post OP. I refunded my preorders with EB and the girl was crying whyyyy. and her manager was right next to her and I said well if he doesn't want to price match the bundle you won't get my business. Sorry.

          Nope they won't allow it. I tried and they said no as it shows as 1 cent in the bundle. Not sure if they can override that though, but the manager definitely said no. I got the one and only bundle as they only had 1 game, but heaps of consoles and adapters.

    Yep pretty poor stock, just went to bankstown big w and they only had 1 paper Mario so they said only could do one bundle which was outrageous. The store attendant called the manager and she wouldn't budge she said no swapping for another game and the Ds will be sold at the original price. I don't usually like bashing but they would only price match one of my ds consoles with target until I made a scene(love making a scene). Anyways in the end they price matched the consoles after a lot of effort so I decided to leave the target catalogue at the front counter so everyone else in the line could price match them. Here in bankstown they definitely want to see the catalogue.

      Similar issue in Merrylands- only had one Paper Mario and couldn't trade or swap for anything else. Had a whole bunch of consoles though. You'd think if you're going to advertise a deal, there'd be enough stock, or at least have a few similar priced games to trade with. Paper Mario scanned at $58 and I asked if I could swap for a cheaper game and they said the game shows up as 1 cent in the bundle so no. It was worth being late for work for though.

      Hey, I think I was the person standing in front of you at Big W this morning. Thanks for getting them to price match and leaving the catalogue, saved me a trip to Target to pick up the 3DS XL.

      They had 3 bundles total, but the people in front of me purchased 2 of them. Still though, pretty poor stock.

    Target refused to price match ("Unless they offered the exact same bundle for a different price"), but I managed to snag one from Big W Cumberland Park, SA. They didn't have any Paper Mario in stock, but said it could be substituted for any game up to $60 in value. I included Smash Bros with the bundle, plus bought Omega Ruby for $44.
