It's $30ish per fortnight… So $60+ and a free ID tag.
Wow, that's about $720 per year, or if you dog lives for about 15 years, that will cost over $10,000 !!!!

Just compared them against my current "reseller" (all pet insurance policies' runs through 2 "underwriters" - Petsure & Allianz).
Even with 1mth free, they're 11% dearer (21% before the free month!!).Always shop around and compare quotes, they're all the same underwriter anyway.

Edit: from my last spreadsheet, BowWow's gone up $10/mth compared to $2-$4 for Medibank & PIA!! They must've had some big promo on when I went through 'em last year.

Has anyone done recent comparisons on pet insurance? Who are the ozbargain favourites? I'm in the market, but don't see many appear on ozbargain too often…. Any recommendations?

Lists brands for pet insurance providers. Also look for Allianz' one (via PetPlan - http://www.allianz.com.au/pet-insurance).They're easy to check - fill in age, breed & postcode, have one brand per browser tab and compare across the same pay frequency (eg. monthly).

If your dog is over 6 years old you can forget about getting insurance as none of the providers I have found will offer insurance for 6+ years old pet. Its like telling humans over the age of 40 that they can't get health insurance..
