6 Weeks Free Eligible Hospital & Extras Health Insurance Policy after 8 Weeks, Up to $400 Gift Card after 31 Days @ see-u by hbf

200
GIFTCARD

I regularly churn health insurance and keep all my transfer certificates to ensure I don’t have to serve wait periods. I came across this promotion and I feel that it is currently one of the better offers on the market at the moment.

  • 2&6 month waits waived on extras (promo code: WAITS WAIVED)
    OR
Gift card up to $400* (promo code: GIFT CARD)

Looks like you'll have to serve a waiting period for extras if you choose this promo (For new policy holders)

    • Yeah it's better for churners.

      • what do you mean

        • -4

What do you mean? Oh, oh
When you nod your head yes, but you wanna say no
What do you mean? Hey, yeah
When you don't want me to move, but you tell me to go
What do you mean? Oh, what do you mean?
Said you're runnin' outta time, what do you mean?
Oh, oh, oh, what do you mean?
Better make up your mind, what do you mean?

        • I think what they mean is if you are moving from one health insurer's policy to another insurer's of the same level, and you already served waiting periods with the previous insurer, the deal is worth it and go for the gift card option. But don't quote me on that as I can't think straight today.

  • What is the difference between HBF and see-u by HBF?

    • They're used to call CUA Health. There's also a CUA Bank (now it's called Great Southern Bank). I've been with them for more than 6 years and found they're quite competitive in terms of the premium in my case.

    • See under the heading Limited extras in my post here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/891511

  • I think Queensland Country Health is one of their brands

  • Just curious are there any disadvantages to churning health insurance?

  • 6 weeks free after paid 8 weeks isn't ideal…. but the $400 giftcard at day 30 I guess will cover the 4 weeks.

So I guess this is 10 weeks free after 8 weeks paid.

HBF also isn't all that great (much back) if you need to use anything, and I dont think they have any Point of Difference / bonus?

Ie. Frank for gym memberships, GMHBA for free cancer council products, Bupa for free dentistry etc

Anyone know if HBF offer anything bonus?

  • Question for regular switchers, how does it work with Extras when you switch? I mean we have $700 combined limit on our extras with current provider (to be reset in Jan 26). If we move to another provider before Jan 26 our limit starts with them from scratch OR we only allowed to use whatever is remaining with new provider as well? Thanks in advance

    • +1

If you used extras with your current provider and transfer insurance, your transfer certificate will usually show the used extras and the new insurer will reduce your extras usable allowance by the used amount.

      • ok. thanks.

  • So sign up on the minimum (basic + extra) for me = $60 a fortnight (f/n). Pay for 4 f/ns. = $240.

    Then get 3 f/n's free + $400? Not bad.

    • +1

It seems only $200, except Premium Hospital (No Obstetrics) $400. It does not mention about extra, only hospital cover.

      • +1

This offer is available to new see-u by HBF policyholders who:
        a. Purchase an eligible combined Hospital and Extras policy via the see-u contact centre or website

Hmm, I thought you had to get hospital AND extras to get the benefit.

        • +1

Yes, you are right. However, it is only $200 giftcard, except Premium Hospital (No Obstetrics) $400.

    • +1

Not bad until you realised that you only got $50 GC

  • Not really a great incentive unless you are getting a high level of cover
    Hospital Cover + Extras

    Single

    Starter Hospital

    $50
