    Damn that's heavy

    • True, you'd think broadwell would make things lighter.

    • I was going to say the same thing. My 15" Samsung series 9 only weighs 1.6kg, which is only 150 grams heavier than the tablet itself and 400g lighter than the tablet and keyboard combination.

Do your research and think carefully about Broadwell laptops, in terms of speed it's slightly slower than equivalent Haswell ultrabook cpu(15W TDP) but battery life is improved, it's more about mobility than performance, early reviews say the Broadwell chip can only sustain top clock rates for seconds due to thermal limitations, i.e maybe not so good for some people who want a desktop replacement

Core M TDP is like 4.5W. Haswell-Y equivalent, not the Ultrabook Haswell-U you're thinking of. Performance is rather good when you keep that in mind.

      • that' what i meant, U series Haswell processors, and yes i know there's a big difference in power, that's the big news on Core M, but people want more speed as well as better battery life, until they can improve cooling solutions maybe we'll have to wait a bit longer

        • Those early cherry picked engineering sample previews got expectations too high.

I'll just be waiting for Broadwell-U or whatever they call it.

0.8GHz CPU on a laptop — haven't seen one of that for a while :) How's the performance like comparing to a Haswell, taking Turbo Boost into account?

    • Cinebench test, Core M third from bottom, http://www.extremetech.com/computing/192893-the-first-core-m…, if they can tweak the cpu and other parts there might be room for improvement, but maybe Intel and pc vendors oversold Core M's performance a little!
another comment worth noting, What everyone agrees on is that the system throttles constantly deja vu for Surface Pro 3 owners?

      • Quick search shows Haswell and Broadwell are pretty much on par but ymmv depending on the device.
Pretty much, Broadwell only gives extra battery life and better graphics processing (24EU vs haswell's 20EU)

The YP3 was a piece of junk and doesnt accurately portray Core M. Lenovo rushed to be the first out with Broadwell, and thats how it turned out. I'm probably going to wait till clamshells come put with broadwell before making a decision.

        • yeah, slightly faster graphics, but performance wise, not much improvement, i think it depends if you want an ultra thin and light device at the cost of performance, for now i'm sticking to normal Haswell ultrabooks

Wow, how is a 'soft cover keyboard' 0.6KG??? The device is too heavy for a tablet running a Y CPU in my opinion.
    Any reviews on graphics performance?

  • Looks like it's got a simultaneous International release! http://theverge.com/2014/11/18/7240483/hp-envy-x2-looks-like…

  • Not sure if anybody cares any more, but you can get it for the same price in jb hifi right now.
