If you are talking about the Philips 5.1 Tallboy 3D Blu-Ray Home Theatre System for $249 I have one of these and for the money they are good. It does not have a lot of power and I would recommend it for a smaller/average space and NOT for a larger room. It is fine but it does require maximum setting on the volume to be effective. The bluray works perfectly. It only has 2 HDMI inputs so that is a limiting factor.

I actually replaced my Philips unit and replaced it with a 7.1 amplifier and 150w speakers. The new amp has 4 HDMI inputs and acts as a switch as well, much better for me. This setup has far more volume range, i.e. to achieve the same volume level as the Philips I only have to use 40% of the range. I personally feel it is better not to run an amp at 100%. So I am much happier with the new setup.

I have kept the Philips unit and use it in another area where it is better suited.

      I hope this helps

  • I bought that Philips Home Theatre System. I've only got a small lounge room, so hopefully it'll be suitable.
