  • Is this the Inspiron 15 3000? Because I had a play with one at jb the other day. A lot of flexing on the keyboard and the screen, also the touchpad sinks in on all four corners without applying a lot of force. Wouldn't call it quality built if this is the same model.

    • i said "not the cheapest build Quality" i didnt say its Quality
I would take a Dell over a HP any day of the week. At least you know the heat sinks inside are large enough.

  • my dell can't stand the heat. good price though

  • I just had the same one from Dell Outlet for $379 about a week ago.

Pretty good actually. Not the best, but good for general use.

  • I bought one of these earlier in the month when they had 15% off computers.

Dell has an almost identical model (x510745au), but it has 8GB memory vs 4GB, and NVIDIA® GeForce® 820M 2GB DDR3L compared to Intel HD Graphics 4400. The one of the Dell site is going for $899.

Spending another $90 on 8GB memory (only has one memory slot, so need to remove the 4GB), will still make it cheaper than the Dell.com price.

I compared some of the big names (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Asus) and nothing compares for the price.

The build quality is on the cheap side - all pastic, pretty flimsy . Screen quality is also not the greatest. But for $600, can't complain too much.

  • Definitely cheaply built (I have one).
Also be careful, many of these only one have slot for RAM, and have 10/100 ethernet (not gigabit). No dual-band WiFi either.

  • yup. i agree with Make it so.
only one ram slot - so much for dual channel
no access to hard drive - you have to remove the whole back cover, essentially the same thing but it's not.

on the good side is only that most laptops under 1000$ are like this. things have changed the last couple of years, the IT companies got smart and want you to pay Apple prices for anything decent laptop wise.

  • Dual core only?? Integrated graphics?? 2001-era screen resolution? Might as well just buy a $249 Wal-Mart Celeron.
