Before this question gets asked, it's because your stores have different owners in your state!

    • KFC is operated by different companies in different states.

YUM! foods do a few states
In QLD KFC is operated by Collins Food

Not sure who does the rest.

      • Western Australia = Competitive Food Group (Same guy who owns every Hungry Jacks restaurant in Australia) though there is currently a federal case about it. There is also one KFC in WA, Karratha, owned by Yum.

  • What's the cheapest thing you can buy at KFC? ;)

    • I was thinking of getting a small chips

  • +3

    Tomato sauce for $0.50?

    • I bought a thing of sweet chilli sauce the other day and it was 30c. Great deal!

    • You need to pay for extra sauce at KFC?

Mcdonalds and hungry jacks will give you those little sauce tubs for free

      • +2

No they don't. Worked there many many moons ago and McD's charged 30c for sauce (w/o purchase of nuggets) and it could be 50c nowadays.

        • I always ask for a plum or sweet and sour sauce to go with my chips and have never been asked to pay for it.

          • @anthony: Same, never had to pay for saue at HJ and usually given several sachets.

            • @Frantic: HJ is free. Macca's not (unless you buy nuggets).

              • @passerby: It cost me 50cents for Sweet and Sour at Maccas the other day :(

  • far out .. is this for real? i go in, buy sauce (or whatever) for 0.50, and get a free burger? what a great deal!

    • +1

Yes, it certainly sounds less restricted than their usual deals.

It says "limited to one coupon per person for the promotion period". Will be interesting to see how they enforce this.

I'd better save the pdf just in case they pull it!

  • Woot!

  • I can't help but think companies are becoming wiser, and putting these "too good to be true" deals up in hope they go viral, then claiming "oh wow we didn't expect people to go this crazy over free food, we're going to have to end the offer early".

Blind Freddy can see this offer is going to be abused.

  • have anyone tried with the sauce purchase?haha

  • hmm… new business model? you buy the sauces, burger and patty provided… sauces could be now premium types that cost $10/packet (premium hand picked tomatoes?) :P

  • i shall be getting free lunch today.

  • I will be amazed if they honor the deal with sauce purchases.
I really think they mean menu items (sauces are not menu items).
Heys, but if anyone manages to do a sauce purchase, kindly post the store's location :P

    • +2

Maybe it's just my local KFC, but I feel KFC has the biggest idiot to normal staff member ratio in all of the fast food industry. Go to the dumbest looking one and it might work :P

      • Nah dude, it's not just your local, they're mostly dead-set halfwits at KFC; and let me tell you it's not just the grunts there either, the "management" at most stores won't exactly be filling the ranks at Mensa any time soon! :p

        • -3

The only people sadder than the workers at KFC are the people on the other side of the counter.

          • @cakesy: lol, sounds like a raw nerve, work there do ya cakesy? :p

      • If you worked at KFC would it really be "smart" not to allow it? I'd just say whatever it's not my money and let it through.

        • My guess is that it's for real. After the recent court case where they are getting sued for (possibly) causing brain damage from food poisoning I pretty much stopped eating KFC. 50% on whether to try out this offer :|

          • @bobsmith: The last i heard about that case the KFC records for the store showed that no chicken twister was purchased on the day the family was claiming it was.

            • +1

@anthony: Hmmm, I find it very difficult to believe that in the course of a normal business day at a busy KFC not a single instance of a VERY popular menu item was purchased! :?

Doesn't that seem a little too improbably convenient to you? ;)

              • @StewBalls: Maybe it wasnt the whole day, could have been the hour or some other time frame (it was a while ago i heard it on the news). Or she ordered something specific like with no sauce or added a special sauce which would clearly be identifiable and very possibly the only one of that order for the day.

I am sure the store has a video camera which they sould see her making her purchase and look at the register records for the order at that time.

                • @anthony: Fair enough, here's a link to help refresh your memory:
                  http://www.smh.com.au/national/kfc-twister-salmonella-poison…

One would think it safe to assume a sensitive business like a KFC franchise would have the mechanisms you mention for audit purposes in place and operational; however, if we follow this thread back a bit it's reasonable to surmise that the word "genius" is in neither the essential or desirable selection criteria for KFC employees! :p

                  • @StewBalls: Here is the info about twisters not being sold
                    http://www.smh.com.au/national/no-twisters-sold-at-the-criti…

SALES records contradict a father's evidence of buying a KFC chicken Twister at the centre of his daughter's $10 million damages case, a judge has been told.

In the NSW Supreme Court yesterday, Ian Barker, QC, for the fast food outlet, said documents showed conclusively ''no Twisters were bought in the relevant period''.

                    • -1

@anthony: Thanks anthony, interesting read. This is an interesting case, certainly many of my Arabic friends have been prone to stretching the truth over the years (particularly when there's a possible payout at the end); but unless KFC can come up with some irrefutable evidence that can actually be corroborated (ie the video footage) of an exculpatory nature, they've got a hell of a fight on their hands! ;)

            • +1

@anthony: look at the origin of the scamming family (I mean… nice family) and put two and two together. More people in that scamming family ate the same wrap.

how do 7 people share one twister? I'd fail sharing it between two.

              • @[Deactivated]: I had a high school teacher who used to go to the local club with his wife & 2 kids, order 1 burger & chips, ask for a knife and divvy it up! They'd wash it down with a schooner of coke & 4 straws! No kidding! ;)

The only time I saw a twister shared was one person was needling the other until detonation, the stirrer then wore a partially eaten twister with velocity, but I digress! ;)

                • @StewBalls: Aww that's a really sad story…assuming he was too poor for everyone to get a burger, and not just a tight wad.

                  • @[Deactivated]: What they didn't say:
                    * The school teacher was asking for a payrise
                    * It was mid afternoon and nobody was that hungry
                    * The local club had huge hamburgers (an open hamburger)
                    * All their cash was tied up in investments
                    * The kids were very young
There are so many reasons why it might not be a sad story.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: Oh no, don't get the violins out yet, he wasn't doing it tough, he really was just a tightwad! Thinking back, that's probably why he had one of the biggest houses in town, there might be something to this tactic! ;)

  • Where did you find this, just so we have some background if needed for them to offer it, they may just say we are not a participating store anyway hey.

  • so has anyone bought a sauce & they got free Cayan Grill Burger?…Or do we have to buy a normal burger & then we get this Cayan Grill Burger????

  • +8

Aren't we being a tad bit cheap by just buying sauces and getting a free burger??? :/

Why not just get a small fries or something………

    • +5

blasphemy! You can never be too cheap on Ozbargain ;)

    • +1

definitely too cheap. the tightarses of the world are why the T&C's are so small and there is such a wide and varied amount of small print the same tightarses complain about.

T&C's are there because of said tightarses trying to trick corporations.

Great deal OP. I have created a pdf that has 4 copies of the coupon on one page. Download.

Visit [dealdump.com.au](http://dealdump.com.au/ "All the best Australian deals in one place, save time without missing any specials.") for Australian bargains all in one place.

    • LOL dude advertising?

    • Opps I voted him up for the pdf link, but missed the spam at the bottom :p

  • +1

love your pdf file shaz !!

    • No worries. Glad to help.

  • Thanks :)

  • Nice deal. Anyone have confirmed results with this coupon (especially with plain black and white prints)?

    • +1

Yeah i printed 2 on my B&W laser printer and went down with my brother.

I was going to just say sauce but i was hungry so i ordered wicked wings and the snack box; one each and they gave us the Cayan burger free.

      So it definitely works!

      • Yes, used it at Westfield Para today, without issue.

The burger costs $5 on its own or $8 as a combo if you were paying full price.

The cheapest thing on the menu is 30 cents, being the tomato sauce.

Overall, the Cayan Burger isn't all that tasty (would never buy it otherwise), but for a minimum buy in of $0.30 its good value.

  • are we allowed to use the 4 in 1 pdf because it's a completely different coupon size compared to the original

    • I doubt they would stop you using the coupon due to its size. But stranger things have happened.

    • +1

Used the 4 in 1 pdf and was in black and white at North Ryde KFC. No Questions asked.

  • Dinner roll 50 cents
But I went for the $2.75 snack box - they needed to call the manager to enter it into the computer though.

    • What's in the snack box, if you don't mind?

      • Depends what you want, it's something and chips. Not sure what the choices are but they are on the website I think. I know you can get popcorn chicken, and I think another option is a piece of chicken (one piece) and there should be a 3rd option.

  • +2

    where do u get 2.75 snack boxes? i pay like 3.45 :(

    • They're 3.25 at every KFC in the Central Coast/Newcastle/Hunter region that I've been to.

  • i dont believe this, any purchase.

    i like it!

  • disappointed with hornsby westfield KFC when they said no to my print out! they said only the KFC vouchers they accept and I said this is from KFC website and still said no they want a printed one!! the guy said he refused couple of more guys who brought the printout earlier today as well and only big KFC restaurents will honour this one. :(

    • +1

      What a retard!

Get the guy's name (or the storemanager) and submit a complain with their owner Yum!
      http://www.kfc.com.au/about-us/contact-us.asp

I went to the KFC in Yagoona which ony a small store and the girl accepted without problem. And that was with the 4-in-one printout from above which is not quite clear.

      • I was also declined when trying to use it at the Bundoora, VIC store tonight. ><
        I'll submit a comment!

  • +6

yummm free ticket to blocked arteries, if you buy stroke first.

    • lol.

    • How could I resist giving this a vote up.

  • +1

is it possible to buy just the dinner roll?
what's the cheapest drink? can we use with that?

    • Try their new krushies ;)

      • Think those have been out for like a year, and they're pretty gross IMHO lol

      • +1

Make sure you ask for the "krushers kard" and get them to stamp it, 5th one free!

    • +2

Tried with 50c dinner roll - worked.

  • has anyone tried the 4 in 1 coupon or should i just use the original voucher to be safe?

    • Yup, it works. (didn't use your 4 though, i just printed 4 on 1 page).

  • +6

lols i had to drive around to 2 stores and ended up getting 3 free burgers.

    • +2

Your humble ozbargain spirit embiggens us all.

    • if you had to spend more than 30c in any of those stores, I may lose all respect for you…

  • hello Bros.. so, any1 got this burger with jugs 30cents? any ?

  • +2

Don't forget to ask them for the scratch card (I assume they wont just give it to you unless you ask as most places don't). See http://www.australianidol.com.au/kfc.htm for details

B&W laser printed coupon worked in Melbourne, Swanston St KFC. The shift supervisor didn't seem happy, may have been unrelated.

    • Got one at Melb Central KFC, crossed the street to QV to get another.
Both times, the young kid the the register did it for me, didn't go through any manager. They seem more than happy to do it.

  • Accepted at Forest Rd Hurstville store. Cashier had to ask manager, and didn't seem like manager knew about it as he asked what had to be purchased with the burger (his face didn't seem to like cashier's "any purchase" answer!)

  • Just tried again at the same KFC two days in a row :)

I even asked them about what the cheapest thing i could buy and they shrugged (manager and cashier), so i told them if i could theoretically buy sauce and get the burger for free. The manager replied with a smile "That's a bit dodgy, i'm guessing you have to buy chips or something"

    So yeah, sauce could work.

  • hilarious (buy sauce get burget) !

  • +2

Sure you can buy sauce/dinner roll, but when they look at the stats for the promotion and find out most people made an average purchase of $0.50 with the burger they'll be far less likely to run it again. I know they're not a charity and there's no obligation to buy anything expensive, but I think as a gesture of goodwill from a customer you'd buy something like chips/drink. I plan to use this but I'll get a drink too.

    Great deal though :)

    • +1

I don't think it's a promotion per se, it's most likely that the Cayan isn't selling as well as it should be because people don't want to try new things in fear of hating it.

So they decide to give it to you for free and hope you love it to buy it on a regular basis after the promotion period.

    • True, I think I'll get a large chips with it.

    • +1

Just picked up 1.25Lt drink + snack box with chips and chicken + 2 burgers (two different people) for $6.70 - $3.35 ea. Decent feed :)

    • thats sort of like walking in with the coupon, but paying for the burger as a gesture of goodwill from a customer ???

  • +2

I dont have a printer, but I bought one of these meals and I must say it was rubbish.

I wouldn't eat one again, free or not.

  • +1

just got it with reg chips ( 2.65 ) , i asked what's the cheapest thing there…even thoughh i know its the sauce. haha. the burger was..well…i guss the burgers are better at HJ haha.. its just a piece of cayan grill and like a sprinkle of lectuce….really bad..

  • I handed the coupon over with no extra purchase, and they asked me to pay $2.45. Still a very good deal, and a good product :).

    • For 20 cents more you could have had a small chips with the burger.

  • I had no questions asked with the purchase of a dinner roll. Didn't care for the burger but I'll do it a few more times, my dog likes the chicken..

  • -1

is dinner roll on the menu?

    • +2

There's probably half a dozen post above answering this, the closest being about 10 pixel above your question.

  • what i am asking is , is it on the menu?? not can we use with it. i dont recall sauces on the menu but u still can purchase it. =="

    • Yes, a saw it on the menu tonight. Near the gravy and stuff.
