  • two peopole return 800 bucks, im sold this time I've missed out on the last few. I'm even just gonna go for 4 nights or something.

I can't wait to eat all the 500 yen ramen, drink ice cold Chu-Hi and Cola Shock and Family Mart hot dogs.

    :D

this time I'm going to steal some coasters from MOS Burger. If you don't know about MOS Burger, it's like McDonalds but Japanese. The coasters are solid rubber, nice too ;)

    • ok, but don't blame it on a drunkard plank should you get caught or arrested ;)

      • If you get caught, you can always pretend that coaster was included. and pretend you don't understand Japanese.

      • haha nah they come with the drinks. Have a look!

type mos burger coaster into google, theres millions of people with them

    • +1

as usual, foreigners exploiting the innocence of the Japanese..

  • I have select the 2 for 1 flights but shows no discount
$163 + $73 tax each way 2 for one flight and shows total as $831???

    • yeah, actually $831 (for 2, return incl taxes) is the cheapest i could find…
      still, bargain $416/each pp

  • Good find - however some ambiguity in the pricing you quote in your thread title here. Perhaps amend it to say:-
    "Jetstar - Sale to Japan! Sydney-Osaka, Gold Coast-Osaka/Tokyo, Cairns-Tokyo (from $379 Ret'N)"

    or

    "Jetstar - 2 for 1 to Japan! Sydney-Osaka, Gold Coast-Osaka/Tokyo, Cairns-Tokyo (from $379 per person RTN)"

    • Thanks for the feedback. I've changed it to say "$379 pp Retn"

  • I also don't see the price reflecting the 2 for 1 sale even though I choose the fare indicated as such…

  • great deal. Might plan the trip today. Anyone got any idea how much does it cost to go from Osaka to Tokyo? Also, what is the best way : Bullet Train or Flight?

    • I'd take the train considering it takes something like 2 or 3 hours. But keep in mind that getting around Japan on the shinkansen is quite expensive.

It might be a good idea to get a Japan Rail Pass. You can get an idea on their prices here:
      http://www.traveljapan.com.au/japan-railpass/japan-railpass.…

I've heard that a one way from Osaka-Tokyo could be as much as half the price of the rail pass itself.

  • I wouldn't bother with the Shinkansen unless you're going for longer than a week. It's expensive, plus all that travel time already eats into your holiday. I'd choose either Tokyo OR Osaka for a week and do one or the other.

    • It's very cheap compared to what Japanese residents have to pay though. The only dodgy bit is they sell the passes in 7, 14 & 21 blocks AND you need to choose the date period you want to use it.

There are other methods of travel if you're really keen on going through multiple cities though. There's plenty of good info on the Japan National Tourism website.
      http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/

      • nah when I was there you buy a pass here in Australia but only validate it for a period you choose once you get there.

take the invalid ticket to the ticket booth anytime your there and you validate it from that point on for the period chosen.

  • so the rail passes do not cover shinkansen. How long would it take then to go on a normal train between osaka and tokyo. It takes around 2.5 hours on shinkansen.

    • u wrong. the rail passes is ok for shinkansen. dont bother try other method, if u need/have to travel in japan between city then get railpass.. its VERY cheap but make sure u fully use them.

      • It depends. Still cheaper not to buy Railpass if you only wish to purchase one leg. You just need to research the price of the legs you wish to travel.

They do cover Shinkansen but not the Nozomi trains(bit faster). No big deal as other trains will be available on the same route.

  • if just staying in tokyo I wouldn't bother to buy a rail pass. trips were about 1.50 per journey on the Yamanote line.

    • Totally agree.

You can only use the railpass on JR Lines (and Shinkansen except Nozomi) and Tokyo is a mix of both JR and metro lines. We rarely used our Railpasses in Tokyo, so if you are only staying there, it is not worth it.

  • Great deal! Thanks a lot.
Booked the flights. Sydney - Osaka return paid only $425.79 per person incl. credit card surcharge.
Been to Japan before. At this price will happily go there again .

  • damn. missed out on the special. All the tickets are gonna for my travel time. Ideally leave on Friday on Sydney and leave osaka on sunday night. That combination is only available for $1300 in November. I guess next time. You can still get the cheapest flights if you travel mid week. But that will be too many days of work for us.
