Who are Three?

The Three network is one of the major mobile carriers in UK. Three network has extensive coverage in UK's main cities- making it ideal for Travelers. The generous Data offered by Three is unmatched by its competitors and allows extensive use of apps such as Google Maps, Facebook, Whatsapp, Viber, etc.

The "Feel at Home" Service which allows customers to use Data in 16 other countries including France and Italy makes it ideal for Travelers going to various countries in Europe. In addition, you get 300 UK minutes which can be used in those 16 countries. This means if you are traveling with a companion and are traveling to UK, France, Italy etc you will always remain in touch.

"Feel at Home" Limitations
The sim card can be used in 16 other countries, however as noted on the Three website there are a few limitations, these include;

*Data is capped at 25GB when using it in the 16 countries
*You can't use your phone as a personal hotspot (tethering).
*Three restricts your ability to use your data allowance for file-sharing (like peer to peer download services) and using certain sites to download or share large files.
*You should be able to stream and connect to VPNs, but you'll find this is slower and the quality won't be as good as it is in the UK. For example, Three doesn't recommend streaming TV programmes and films.
*Other Add-ons that include video or audio content (such as TV, music or games) can’t be used either when you’re in a Feel At Home destination.

*Unlimited Data is capped at 25GB when using it in the 16 countries

Think you need to go and see what the world unlimited means.

    • +1

      Hi Porthos

This is a UK sim card - and its primarily to be used in the UK - where you will receive Unlimited Data. However, an added bonus of this sim card and what makes it great for travellers, is that the Data can be used in 16 other countries.

      • -2

used in the UK - where you will receive Unlimited Data.

Is the 'unlimited' data capped or not ???

        • Hi Jv

Within the UK - the data is NOT capped.

      • Ok, that makes more sense then.

Maybe you should say 'when using it in the 16 other countries? (Unlimited data applies only to the UK).

        Or something like that.

        • Porthos

Based on your feedback we have amended our description :). Hopefully it is more clear now

*Unlimited Data is capped at 25GB when using it in the 16 countries

Does this mean the data is capped at 25GB across all 16 countries or 25GB for each country?

      • +1

        Hi EarlyBird

The Data is capped at 25GB across ALL 16 countries for that 30 day period.

        • Do you still retain the unlimited data and the local call time for the UK when you travel to and fro across the other countries?

        • +1

          @EarlyBird:

Yes you still retain those features.

  • Australia is one of the 16 countries.

Be careful NOT to try out the sim in Australia if you don't fly out for 30 days.

    • Hi Eeples

That is correct, Australia is noted as one of the 16 countries, and in order to inform our customers we specially place a sticker on the packaging informing customers that their 30 days will commence from the point that they first insert the sim card in their phone.

    • Be careful NOT to try out the sim in Australia if you don't fly out for 30 days.

Unless you buy it to use in Australia…

      • +1

why not? i got it last time and it works in australia, just VERY SLOW!

  • -3

    Am I missing something?

Based on the conditions outlined above, it is clearly not "unlimited" data in the 16 countries.

    • -3

Maybe the "300 Local UK Minutes" is limited to 60 minutes ???

      • Jv

The 300 Local UK Minutes is definitely 300 Local UK Minutes. Based on the feedback we have edited our description.

        • +3

          @Eeples:

It's all good. jv is a long term follower of simcorner and we appreciate his scrupulous review of our descriptions. We appreciate all feedback, whether it be good or bad.

    • Hi jackspratt

The data is capped at 25GB in the 16 "Feel at Home" countries. We have revised our description, hopefully it is more clear now.

      • We are offering our UK Prepaid Sim Card, for 15% off our Regular Retail Price. The Data can be used in 16 countries, including France, Italy and Sweden

So What Do You Get With This Offer?

-Free Three UK Prepaid Sim Card
-Unlimited Data (the Data can be used in 16 other countries)
        -300 Local UK Minutes
        -3000 Local UK Texts

So how should I (and perhaps others) interpret the above - particularly the second dot point?

I would suggest further "revision" (ie clarification) is called for.

I would then be happy to revoke my neg, which was based on your original, clearly misleading, statement.

        • We have reviewed your feedback and revised our description again. Sorry for any confusion.

    Gee tough crowd.
This is an awesome product. I spent much more on travel sim that didn't even include any data.

    • Hi marquise

Most definitely a great value, especially if you are traveling to the UK and any of the other 16 Feel at Home countries. We believe that it is better to use a Local Simcard - then any Travel Sim where possible.

  • +1

I think its a great offer .. bought 3 for up and coming holiday to uk via HK .. data will come in handy for the stop over .. nice not to worry about it once we get there :D ..thanks

    • Oh, I bought one too. For the UK and Republic of Ireland. Unfortunately it is no good to me for my Singapore stopover.

      $3 postage registered.

    • +1

      Hi marialouise314

No worries, happy to make things easier and convenient. You will also receive your phone number when you receive your sim cards in the mail, hence you can provide the phone numbers to your family and friends before you depart Australia :)

  • Feel At Home is intended for our UK customers who are visiting one of the destinations for short trips, like holidays or business trips. If you only use your plan in a Feel At Home destination for a complete month, and this happens three times within a year, we may have to suspend international roaming on your account, which would mean you wouldn’t be able to use your phone or device abroad anymore. We’d let you know if this were likely to happen. If you spend a full month abroad but some of that time is spent in a destination that isn’t included in Feel At Home, the restriction won’t apply.

So basically you can use this sim continuously for 3 months in Australia at 25GB data per month, before you get suspended "overseas" use?
Cheapest recharge(to get 25GB) looks like £18.00 which comes to $33.xx pm so will definitely have merits for some people…

    • …but no tethering here.

      • Hi junoz86

The sim card is primarily to be used in the UK, with the added bonus of the "Feel at Home" feature for short-term travelers. We do not encourage purchasing the sim card and using it for long-term domestic use in Australia.

  • I think this card has fantastic value.
For anyone questioning the wording, well… fine I guess technically this shouldn't be called "unlimited" as if it is unlimited in all 16 countries, but as long as you read the fine print then you should be fine.

In fact, reading the fine print should be standard for anyone purchasing anything.

Only thing I find odd is that the method of activation is literally to put the SIM in your phone (and I assume switch it on too - surely it won't activate if you don't turn it on?)

Is there no way that activation can be manually triggered online, or by making a phone call?

    • Hi illumination

The sim is actually activated when the phone first connects to a network. However, to avoid our customers accidentally turning on their phone in Australia, and having their 30 days start earlier then anticipated - we just state the sim card is activated when the sim card is first inserted in the phone.

We have previously had instances where the customer has inserted the sim card in their phone in Australia as soon as they got the sim card from us, and unfortunately their 30days had lapsed by the time they reached the UK.

Hi Rep - What are the 16 countries ? Sorry it might be obvious but I can't seem to be able to find the list.

    • +1

Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Macau, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, USA.

  • Hi Rep, sounds like this will suit my needs well. I'm going to be in the UK for most of the time, but I'm going to countries like Germany and Italy as well- I am right in saying that I would need to buy 10 pounds worth of credit (or how ever much) if I wanted make calls or texts in those countries? i.e me in germany, text a friend in germany.

    • hi navyblues

Yes that is correct, you will need to add credit. Please review the Three website for all tariff charges. Alternatively we have a local German sim card noted on our website which may be more suitable when you are in Germany.

  • Any chance of a deal for the USA coming back?

  • Hi Rep, any chance of a deal for Indonesian sim?

Can I just say that i got this prepaid sim just recently for my uk, italy and france trip and the 3 network it uses is total crap, you lose data connection so often when you go into buildings, coverage is bad, you don't get 4g access despite being in 4g area (i tried in london). As soon as u get close to a tube station in london, it loses connection.

It seems the 3 network is bad around the world. I just used wifi when possible.

Id rather get a sim from vodafone directly if u can. I was very tempted to throw away this sim and get one from the UK, but im cheap and already paid $40 for this sim card

  • @ OP

Does the simcard have any expiry date? I am traveling to Europe in July 2015 and I need to know whether the simcards will be valid until then.

  • Any problems with buying this now and not using it until March provided I dont activate it until then?

    • Hi Saard

No problems at all. You 30 day commences from when you first insert the sim card in your phone.

  • I just came back from the UK/Europe and used the excat same sim that is being sold here with no problems. It is basically the "All in One £15" deal from Three UK. http://store.three.co.uk/view/searchSimOnly?tariff=112

I used it in UK, France and Italy with no problems. However just remember that you CANNOT use the sim for teethering anywhere even in the UK (I asked at the Three store) and that the included minutes and texts are only to UK numbers.

    • OP, can you confirm whether the SIM can be used for tethering in the UK? Your description suggests it can. Thanks

      • Hi Hayne

We have had customers who have been able to hotspot with this sim card whilst in UK, however based on the Three website, it appears not to be the case, and as such we have also updated our description)

  • Bought this with the last deal, it's a great card. Activated it in Aus just before I left simply by putting it in my phone, couldn't be simpler. Used in France, Austria, Italy where you get free data and also in Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic no problems. 3G signal only (could just be my phone bands - Aus iPhone 5s)

ONLY ISSUE: Seriously difficult to top up: you need a UK bank card. I ended up paying a service to top it up for me but it's no walk in the park (unless you're actually in the UK then you can just buy a physical voucher)

  • Hi jsjc

Thanks for that feedback. When you state you could use it in Germany, Belgium, and Czech Republic - do you mean that the data also works in that country or did you have to pay additional for that? Thanks

  • if you are going to UK 1st, they have vending machine for this SIM at Heathrow airport.
this is a great sim if you are heading to some other countries around europe

  • +1

I have just got back from the UK stopping in HK .. I loved having this sim .. yes with any other sim theres some coverage issues but overall this ended up being very useful and we still using the data here in Australia after the 30 days .. not sure why that is but i am not complaining lol

    • +1

      Thanks for the feedback marialouise314.

Yes, being able to use the data in more than one country is great for no extra cost. Hey, if it's still working why not keep using it :)

  • Anyone manage to get this going in Australia?
