For a discontinued item the N54L still seems to be readily available. Did they stockpile them in the Pyramids or something? Where are they all coming from?! Still a great machine but I feel $259 + Postage is a little steep, even with 4Gb RAM!

    • This deal better than Shopping Express. They had it for $259 + Postage, but only 2GB of RAM.

Is the 4GB Ram 1 or 2 sticks?

        Hi,

They are 1x 4GB ECC Ram

        Sam

  • I'm pressuming you can't upgrade the CPU of the G8, much like the n40/n54?

Shame, all I need is a bit of extra CPU grunt from my n40 and it would make me so happy…

    • Same I wish my N40 could transcode !

    • The Gen8 is upgradable, although not a very cheap exercise. There is a number of Xeon CPU's that will run in it if you want the horsepower.

    • Hi,

The CPU is upgradable, and we will install and test it before we ship.

    • Yekul, can you upgrade the CPU in an N54L? I didn't think that was possible. Care to share more about that?

      • +1

No you can't…You need to read what Yekul has said a couple of times to make sense of it (at least I had to ;)

        • Ha, got it now. Reading too fast. 'Great Minds…'

Pity tho because although it's an excellent unit all the N54L needs is another few percent increase in 'oomph' to make it 'amazing' :(

  • Any chance of a shipping discount (free?) on the Linkstation Pro Quad?

    • Sorry the price is already on special, I do not have any room to move.

  • Maybe I could convert my two 1TB Buffalo Cloudstations into one unit.

BudgetPC have the N54L for the same price but cheaper shipping (At least for me)

    • Yep, same price and cheaper shipping. Done deal unless the PC LAN rep can offer something better?

  • Once set up properly, my N54L has been excellent…It seems to require specifics to get the most performance from it though.

I'm saying- if you need a NAS, and have the info/time to install it, it's a good deal & great NAS.

    Cheers
