I did, because person in charge was making manual price reduction when my (second) $30 purchase on EDR did not reduce price to $1. Gave her another EDR card & got another $1 deal without $30 purchase on it.

Worth a try before 31st (for those who lack conscience about the effect on Woolies profits) - hand over EDR card to purchase Starter Pack, when price does not reduce to $1 - say you bought $30 (copy of receipt may help) but have not redeemed for Starter Pack, ask to manually mark down to $1.

Tried this today - accepted my $1 no problems, even though EDR card did not reduce price as did not buy anything.

  • Tried to redeem one today with my EDR card that did have a previous $30 spends on it (both groceries and Opal), but I had already redeemed one starter pack prior to Christmas. Did not reduce starter pack to $1, so the store staff had to override it manually.

That suggests it's hasn't changed to a free for all.

  • do they take down your id when you buy the sim pack?

    • Did at the 2 stores I used.

Yes, they always do with me

    • They did mine, asked for Driver's licence.

  • it depends who processes it. the first chick didnt ask for id and hadn't heard about the deal and referred to an old catalogue and just grabbed a normal sim pack and it worked without a receipt though i did make $30 purchases before 24th dec. then i went to the gift card section and found 2 more telstra packs so i went through the self service but had to get the staff to scan his card but it automatically discounted the $29 using another family members edr. tried the third edr card but it would only give me $19 off the sim pack as there was already a $10 e gift card on the edr that i cant remember why, so i grabbed $11 worth of food to put through but the system would still only give me $19 off the sim pack so i complained and the manager was called thats went the trouble all began. they took me to the front counter and wasnt familiar with the offer so they referred to the old catalogue. they said i was only allowed 1 and had to purchase $30 of groceries with the sim pack for it to work. i told her its the wifes edr card and she had shopped on the 24th dec but she didnt believe me. she just wouldnt listen and asked for my receipt. lucky i was still able to find it. finally after asking for my ID she override it and i got my $10 off the food plus the $29 off the sim pack. but it took a very long time to process as she gave me a hard time and was rude i nearly exploded. my advice take the old catalogue with you and your receipts and ask them to scan any $30 telstra sim pack along with your edr card and it should automatically give you the discount provided you made $30 or more purchases on that edr card by 24th dec. unless you are unlucky like i was and have linked cards or gift card credits on your edr you will need a manager to manually do it for you provided you have proof. if anyone can confirm that it will work on any registered edr card without the $30+ purchases that would be great to know?

  • Still plenty at the Safeway along Glenferrie Road, near the train tracks. For those in Vic….. :)

  • Is this still on?

    • Got 1 last night for $1 with registered EDR & receipt for $30 purchase, which had already been redeemed.

  • I went past a Woolworths today after reading this on here last night. I had no receipt, but I knew I had spent at least $30 during the promotional period. I just asked if they had any of the Telstra starter packs. When she got one out and scanned it, I just said I should have a voucher on my EDR for it to be $1. She scanned the EDR, and voila, $1. Expires Sep 2016. And yes, I had to show ID. Thanks OP!

    • I tried that yesterday and she said, 'no that was last wee's offer'. I had chucked the paper offer so didn't argue.

Had to claim by 31 December.

Hard to argue with Woolies last wee's offer ;-)
        Was she taking the piss?

Yes - needed to redeem by 31/12.

anna10, with your comments about problems with the Telstra $10 deal, I'm surprised you wanted another Telstra Starter Pack!

But stores offered me many excuses why they would not redeem offer (had to redeem by 30/12, you had to redeem at time of $30 purchase, you didn't spend the $30 at this Woolworths, all the packs supplied for that offer have already been redeemed in the promotion week, etc), even when I showed them the catalog which proved them wrong.

Another shoddy promotion by Woolworths. Luckily I got 6 $1 packs.
