    • The white back is very slippery which is why I bought the case. Sandstone probably worth the extra $32.

    • Nope, you paid $32 to get it 2 1/2 - 3 weeks earlier. This one comes with the sandstone black cover.

      • Really no diff at all? :(

Also just in case it helps anyone. Shop mate took almost a week to log my parcel to my Shopmate account - it looks like they are inundated with too many parcels (or not enough staff/systems in place for actual demand in USA).

Anyone had issues with an echo when on speakerphone?

    • yea i'm having that issue.

So what advantages does the OnePlusOne have over the LG G3?
I'm looking for a new phone ATM but I'm not sure yet

  • F!@#$$%*&…Bought for $489 12 days ago…now Im feeling like this deal laughing at me

  • Was tossing up getting the OnePlus One or the LG G3 last week. Was priced about the same. Ordered LG and it arrived this morning. Should I have waited for this deal? Will see later today if it was worth it.

    • Have you opened your new phone's packaging? How are you finding it?

In comments I noted that this oneplus doesn't support the next-gem LTE frequencies (e.g. 700MHz next-gen LTE Telstra is rolling out; Vodafone rolling out something similar?).

For the same price I'd lean toward the phone that will work with the new LTE - e.g. the LG G3.

  • Thanks - just got one

  • +5

Damnit, now having conversation with myself over wants and needs.

  • Don't need this one..but very tempting..uhmmm

  • +2

Be aware of touchscreen issues and jerky scrolling on the phone.

Look at this post on whirlpool: http://whrl.pl/ReabTM

I purchased it in the last groupdeal. DWI service is great but my phone also suffers from the touchscreen and scrolling lag issues. If you have been used to precise touchscreen responses from high-end phones, its likely you will notice this issue.

    • The latest update should have solved the issue. Not the 38R update but the 44S update, I got it OTA

      • Its a hardware issue: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fixing-the-ghost-touch-gr…

No it does not solve it. If you are on 44S, try the tests in the above whirlpool post and report.

      • Yeap, it is hardware issue..

        • Wrong. The touch screen hardware fault is rare, the touch screen software fault was on most devices.

I had the touch screen problem like most, updated and did not have it any more.

        • @millzy: Can you please test with the multitouch app on 44s and confirm for the benefit of others? The whirlpool post linked above details the steps.

I have it on my phone. I had the most issues with 44S. I did the OTA as soon as I switched on the phone, so no comparison on how it was before 44S.

        • @millzy:

Just read through thread…do the tests as suggested and report back here..

        • @tyler.durden:

Sent you a pm but here it is again.

I performed those tests before 38r update and it did not work. I tested it as soon as I got the 38r update with the mulitouch app above worked 100%. Tested again now(with the piano app too), works flawlessly. Got my opo from DWI flashed with cm11. I manually updated 38r(CBF waiting), then 44s came OTA.

        • @millzy: You are lucky. I got from DWI flashed with CM11 on 38R. 44S OTA flashed as soon as I switched it on. I get the issue on multitouch app every time with just 3 fingers.

        • @sk280:

When did you get yours? EBay 15% off?

Are you 100% sure it had 38R when you got it? If I were you I'd manually flash 38R again.

          Edit:
          Found the original link https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655042878

          My instructions from old deal:

Just download the official 38R update(exactly the same as the OTA update)
          Power off phone
          Hold volume down and power
          Goes into recovery mode.
          Select 'wipe cache partition'.
Select 'apply update', point to where you downloaded the 38R zip on your phone.
          Done.Enjoy!

        • @millzy: I got it in the last groupbuy. I actually didnt check the version but it had to be 38R because as soon as I turned it on, it offered the 44S update and I updated straight away.

        • @sk280:

Dude, try and downgrade to 38R by downloading the original update above. You won't lose anything as its only an update. You will get 44S OTA again.

The image which was flashed when you got it could have been corrupt.

I had the exact same issue as you and flashed the exact image above. All problems solved after the flash.

          Def worth a try.

for the guys who buy this, make damn sure you protect the screen with a screen protector~!~
i dropped my OnePlus One and now the middle part of the screen doesnt register touch…. no chance of getting this fixed in Australia…

    • Sucks man.

My 2 year old threw mine on tiles this morning. I have a diztronic tpu case and had a nillkin tempered glass screen protector.

My glass screen protector broke in 2 places.
Phone is perfect, screen is perfect. Ordered another glass protector a few hours ago..

  • Tempting for a Nexus 4 user but it seems to be lacking some of the newer LTE bands, e.g. Telstra 4x

    4G: FDD-LTE 2100/1800/2600MHz

http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_one-6327.php notes these bands (for international model?)
    4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600

I'd like to future-proof my next phone - can OzBargainers comment on whether this particular 'one' in the deal is set up for the next-gen Aussie LTE?

  • $430 for a OnePlus One is not very good, this thing really needs to be close to it's actual RRP by now. You can get quality phones like LG G3 or Xperia Z2 for only a bit more.

    • +1

349 US Dollar equals 421.88 Australian Dollar.
It's pretty much cheaper then the RRP when you consider the free shipping!

      • -2

No, $349usd is for the offical Cyanogenmod version from the invite only store. DWI sells ColorOS variants and then flashes the phone before they send it to you, so you're buying the cheaper one.

I'd like to be wrong here, but unlike their Ebay listing, they openly list ColorOS on this very phone on their actual website.

        • Same hardware, different LTE bands, fully compatible with official Cyanogenmod. Yes it is ColorOS that they flash with official CM11. DWI have great service and the phone arrived intact intact with not even an indication of screenprotector removed. +1 for DWI

        • Its the same damn phone! stop with this crap already!
International: more bands in the US
          Chinese: more bands in Asia.
          Otherwise, its the same.

Btw , there is no invite system anymore.

        • @millzy:

If it has different bands than its a different phone. They even price it like this with the colorOS variant having a cheaper RRP.

        • @plmko:

Only because Asia is not willing to pay as much. So much competition over there. Things are cheaper.

The Chinese is superior/worth more to me because I'm more likely to travel to Asia than the US.
There are NO added bands for the international version in Aus so it's the same phone for Aus residents.

Also i get a local warranty service.

Good luck paying for a mail forwarding service yet again to get crappy One plus warranty.

The only thing I'm missing is the CM logo on the back. Guess what though, CM has terminated its deal with OnePlus and OnePlus is developing their own OS.

        • -1

          @millzy:

Lol what does your own personal circumstances have to do with this?

          Wow I don't even.

Plus this price isn't attractive at all, 20-30 dollars more gets you a LG G3, a much higher quality phone.

        • @plmko:

Your being silly dude. Putting down something for the hell of it. Uneducated poster with an opinion.

I bet anything more users are likely to travel to or through Asia as opposed to the US. So it's not personal circumstance

          Local warranty homie.

          Xoxo

        • -1

          @millzy:

Haha if you say so man, I
guess thats why everyone in those Oneplus one invite begging threads were 'uneducated' too.

          Peace man.

        • @plmko:

The Aussie guys, on the main Aussie thread, on the OPO forums (I'm one, I have a waiting invite as a VIP member from months back) were early users. These deals didn't exist. It was cheaper to get the international.

Since then the Aussie threads have been basically abanded.

Every other user is either a non Aussie,Aussie who specifically needs US bands or uneducated.

I'm done though. Come around for a beer, planning on watching the Hendricks v Lawler rematch. Really think Hendricks got him.. :p

        • @millzy:

          Cheers will do.

    Tempted to replace my n5

  • Does this support the new Vodafone 4G 850 spectrum?

It says 3G 850 but I'm clueless with network stuff…

  • does this have google play store? one of my friend got one from ebay it was all in chinese language not suitable for aus, no google play… he smashed it

    • Learn to install your own google play

    • +1

Yes, it comes with CM11S which has Play store..

      • thanks millzy, so i dont have to worry about learning how to install google play then

  • +1

Sorry to be unimpressed but the LG G3 32/3 is a way better deal, for what ~$500 now? For that extra ~$75 you get a much more polished phone, better screen, warranty, reliability, sdcard slot, and a lot more supported 3G and LTE bands. Very handy if you ever travel OS.

    • 500 still is 72 dollars more than 428,
      and betteris subjective. Solid phone.

      2w turnaroundas above, If unlucky.
      OTA CM12S/Lollipop, simply beaut.

Battery life One is also exceptional.

    • yeah, I am thinking the same thing too.

      With the G3 you get

      • Removable Battery
      • SD Card support
      • Better screen
      • FM Radio (yes I still use FM as data allowances are not good enough to stream yet).
      • IR Blaster (not sure if One Plus One has this ?)
      • OIS in camera.

well worth the extra 75 me thinks - 16gb models are sub 500 now but I guess you get 2gb ram so they shouldnt count.

the only thing that attracts me towards One plus one is stable cyanogenmod asap.

  • so what sort of phone case/cover do you guys use? I use UAG armour case for my phone but dont think they make it for 1+1 :(

    • +1

Diztronic TPU for the 1+1 = win

I have the UAG on my old S3, awesome case.

  • Does this support the 4GX LTE Telstra network?

    • Specs on the DWI page indicates this China model DOES NOT support LTE 700 which 4GX runs on.
I haven't seen any other info. See my comments above (nobody's contradicted it yet)

Tempting for a Nexus 4 user but it seems to be lacking some of the newer LTE bands, e.g. Telstra 4x
      4G: FDD-LTE 2100/1800/2600MHz

http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_one-6327.php notes these bands (for international model?)
      4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600

DWI can you sell us the model that supports Telstra 4GX (LTE 700)?

      • Bizi, how about the 850 offered by Vodafone? It says 3G and 2G support 850 but 4G 850 isn't listed?

        • +1

While this phone supports 3g it doesn't support the lower frequency new 4G frequencies.
Since the LG G3 does, I think I will hold onto my great little Nexus 4 a bit longer. N4 with a powerbank!

        • @bizi: Thanks :)

      • @ bizi

I just saw on the whirlpool forum of oneplus that the Australian 700MHz band is Band 28, which is different from the USA 700MHz Band 17 and it's not compatible.

Neither the Chinese version or International Version of the OnePlus One support Band 28(which will run on the Aussie LTE 700MHZ frequency) – but both these versions support LTE 2600Mhz (Band 7), which is also going to be available on Telstra and Optus's networks in selected areas late 2014. See network specifications below

        International specs:
        http://oneplus.net/one#specifications
        2G GSM: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
        3G WCDMA Frequency bands: 2100 / 1900 / 1700 / 850 / 900 MHz
        4G LTE Bands: 1 / 3 / 4 / 7 / 17 / 38 / 40

The above list has converted the WCDMA (3G) band numbers listed by OnePlus into frequencies more commonly listed by Aus telcos. For a table comparing all WCDMA (3G) frequencies to band numbers, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands

For translation of LTE (4G) Operating band numbers to Band Frequencies and vice versa, see this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-UTRA#Frequency_bands_and_chan…

        Chinese specs:
        http://www.oneplus.cn/yijiashouji/spec
        2G GSM:850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
        3G TD-SCDMA:1800-1920 / 2010-2025 (* TD-SCDMA is not used in Australia)
        3G WCDMA:2100 / 1900 / 850 / 900 MHz
        4G LTE: 1 / 3 / 7 / 38 / 39 / 40

To confuse things, the Chinese specifications lists the TD-LTE frequencies as Downlink Frequency ranges instead of Frequency Bands or band numbers. The list above has translated them into Band numbers for direct comparison with the International version.

As a comparison here are the current and planned Australian 4G network frequencies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G_Australia

        Telstra 1800 3 4G FD-LTE 10 to 20 MHz
        Telstra 700 28 4G FD-LTE 20 MHz
        Telstra 2600 7 4G FD-LTE 40 MHz
        Telstra 900 8 4G FD-LTE 5 MHz
        Optus 2300 40 4G TD-LTE
        Optus 2600 7 4G FD-LTE 20 MHz
        Optus 1800 3 4G FD-LTE
        Optus 700 28 4G FD-LTE 10 MHz
        VF 1800 3 4G FD-LTE up to 30 MHz
        TPG 2600 7 4G FD-LTE 10 MHz

More info is on the whirlpool page here - http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_oneplus

I have upgraded from Nexus 4 to this Chinese version of the Oneplus one and I am using Optus and the 4G seems to be working fine for me in the Melbourne CBD.

        Hope this helps.

    • Pairs nicely with Vodafone too IME high1800 spectrum, abundant 30Mhz.
-drop simply to HSPA+U850 band, on Telstra ruralG. U900 3G+ indoors,
      residential / marginal: VF/O.

-No biggy. Samsungs/iPhones on FD850, clears out 3G+for budget end.
      (As referenced,
      LTE OPO 1700 / 700 are T-Mobile/AT&T/Rogers; unlimited services o/s)
28)APT excluded, Every OPO will run 3)1800 7)2600 1)2100, 38)2600 40)2300 key to global-roaming. Could be with "US" OPO< 90% of LTE nwks.

G3 - likely the best competing handset android 5, but faces longer wait for CM12s. @>1080p compromises battery, while I looked at SoT/storage/update as priorities. I buy for 2years, but politics ruin CyanM my next might as well be a LG [G4]. Both boast high-res audio chips.

The other night downloaded the deal from Google Play: 10 FREE Albums - in about 90 mins. 2gb worth thru VPN a UK travel Sim. Difference in quota, would be 23gb(92%) left for -Voda- vs 0GB(0%) telstra at $30.

      (Perhaps better…)
      Using 1+ my normal/18gb Voda sim 20k out of CBD Syd, I get typically, indoors: ~45ms 4+/4 MbpsH+; outdoor: 40ms symmetric 12MbpsLTE (<90.53Mbps)
Quality enough now on 5.4GBph by $1.50GB being outside of EU/US flat rates.

  • Can anyone confirm if it supports HDMI (MHL or slimport)? Apparently my google search shows that it does not. Any owner tested video out from the phone. Paying such a price I think HDMI output should be in place.

    • Nope, it doesn't support HDMI out unfortunately, it does have some sort of mirroring/streaming option to the Chromecast or similar devices.

  • Hmm now to get rid of my 16GB 1st gen moto g..
Could I get around $150 or more for it on gumtree or something?

  • Mine just arrived. I would've been ~15th to order. It's so pretty.

    • +1

Same. Now to spend all day not working and customising the phone. Coming from a 4.5 inch phone seeing this in person was a little intimidating but already used it to. Don't care much for the back cover so waiting for my case to get here.

      • Also what courier did it come by?

    • Did you get a posted notice from eBay? Mine apparently hasn't been dispatched (~50th to order)

      • Yes. I got the email Saturday morning with the tracking number.

        • Hmm still no tracking number :(

        • @blighst: I got my tracking number this morning and I was 153rd to order.

        • @Jar Jar Binks:

Yep mine just cleared customs at Sydney Airport :D

  • Order on Friday, received this monday afternoon. Very Happy with shipping. Just to confirm is the quantity limit is ONE per customer? because it seems I cannot buy another one through ebay, the message says(which I have entered 1):

The quantity you have entered is not available. Please enter a lower number.

  • how often do deals like this happen because i just missed this one!

    mixo

  • Received mine this morning. Pretty happy. just one question, everything in the little user menu is in Chinese, I wonder it is just me selectively provided the Chinese user menu ( as I have Chinese surname) or same for everyone?

    • Its just you. Mine is in English.

      • Thanks and I am really surprised!

      • Could I then ask what was in your package to compare? I received the phone pack with user menu in chinese, charger and universal adapter. No earphone though.

        • +2

Wait! when you said "menu", did you actually mean the user manual handbook (red booklet which was in the box)? Yes that's in chinese. I thought you meant the menus on the phone. The OPO does not come with earphones.
          Pic

        • @Jar Jar Binks: yes the little red booklet is what I called it user menu. so it is the same package for everyone. Thanks

  • I am still waiting for mine and im a bit worried about it.
DHL tracking shows the following shipping path Hong Kong > Brunei > Hong Kong > Brunei > Sydney > Brunei.

I have no idea why it would be back in Brunei at the moment

  • finally received it. i must say the screen was a bit of a disappointment. jumping from S3 to this… the immediate reaction was washed out screen (weak contrast), camera not that impressive either. Not to mention the piss weak LED. S3 has much stronger LED flash (using it as torch)

Other then that this fun runs butter smooth. Will start trying out all those emulator games to see how it runs.

    • Not really weak contrast, just the S3 had extremely high levels of saturation which a lot of people hate (doesn't look natural). Also, the gesture for the flashlight when the screen is off is much dimmer than a regular flashlight app from the playstore.

  • …give it time to grow on yourself. Displays which favour the red-yellow part of the spectrum also have a less fatiguing effect. Colours remain true to life.
