  • Whoa! 5m.

Any deals on the shorter one?

  • Are these the same as the shorter HDMI 1.3a revision cables that were previously going for $2? The picture looks the same.

Or are these 1.4 or better yet 2.0? I notice that the version is not displayed in the specs this time.

      4k and ethernet means 1.4 right…?

      The Features say:

      Supports 4k x 2k Video Resolution

This would mean they are at least HDMI 1.4

Unless they comply with all other requirements, no (though they do seem to have return channel etc). But there is debate over whether it means anything as you can see in the link below.

        http://www.cnet.com/au/news/4k-hdmi-cables-are-nonsense/

Knowing that a cable is certified would be valuable. Otherwise this can just mean someone at DSE stuck the cable in between TV and source and did very minimal testing then said "good enough" and slapped the description on.

If there's a rep around please answer the question.

        • As explained in a previous deal, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/169258.

HDMI version numbers are irrelevant for cables, bandwidth requirements for cables has not changed since HDMI v1.3(cat 2 High speed cables), v1.4 added ethernet over HDMI(a useless feature) so any high speed cable will support all current formats including 4k.

DSE are correct in not listing a HDMI revision number as per the HDMI.org guidelines,

All Licensed Products shall not make any references to HDMI version numbers. These rules apply when describing your products, including (but not limited to) product labels/markings, packaging, marketing and instructional materials, user manuals, online (including websites) or other related promotional material.
          http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/kb.aspx#60

DSE have made an error in the description by not listing it as High speed HDMI, however from the description it would appear to be a high speed HDMI cable.

        • @Blackrose:

Didn't know that. What a cop out fromthose who wsnt globalization of the workforce but region coding on media. Typical.

  • No matter how many times I see it, I can't help but LOL at the RRP.

  • 24 AWG would be better.

  • no antivirus protection no care

    • nah mate, ull buy it and when you go to collect it they will tell you that they cannot give you the product and need to pay normal price for it (no joke)

  • "provides superior quality and performance when it comes to video and audio setups".

Compared to what? RCA? Component? It's digital, either a 1 or a 0.

    • exactly, there's either a connection or there isn't, there aren't varying degrees

A poor quality cable normally will not last long at connector to cable area.

      • Yes but the claims regarding performance, maximum conductivity etc are bunkum

      • You can't tell the quality until AFTER you've bought it, and even then most people aren't willing to cut it open and inspect it.

I've had a few HDMI cables fail. I cut them open, and found they all had solid-core wire, which breaks more readily than stranded wire.

Thanks op got some for when my consoles get crazy noisy. Now I can put them around a corner or in another room.
