Sounds like a good deal - can any Ozbargainers vouch for quality?

    • Thanks for your private message - I've gone through your previous deal and verified that some Ozbargainers do think highly of your coffee. Gone and placed an order.

      A couple of request:
      1. Will you start selling decaf anytime soon?
      2. I was looking to get 3x500g bags, and couldn't see that option anywhere.

  • This is continuation of our previous deal. Please check our previous deal. We received 125 kg order so far in a week. we also supply to few cafes. Hope that helps.

  • -2

How abouts you do us some GOOD deals for people who own Behmore coffee roasters?

I noticed coffeesnobs are cheaper than you guys.

    • +6

we are not offering raw green coffee beans we are offering ROASTED coffee. What does Behmor gotta do with our ad?

  • -5

I was just asking if you could do a good deal on GREEN beans. Most of us don't buy roasted.

However looking at your green bean prices / you're not cheap.

    • +12

      i buy roasted

    • +9

Well this deal is for roasted bean, and your initial comment was posted into our ROASTED deal post so thats why I was confused what are behmor (coffee roaster machine) users to do with our roasted deal. Anyway when the time is right we will do deal on green bean so by all mean, stay tune. Plus please contact us separately if you are going to comment on something we don't offer here otherwise people might get confused. Cheers

      • +10

I'd highly recommend you do not trust his claim that the majority here buy green beans.

        • +1

I respect everyone's opinion and plus who am I to judge what people want and prefer, all we can is to provide the best coffee and service for you all :)
By the way thank you for your kind words :)

          @sweetyarracoffee:

Just wanting to mediate here. It would be beneficial to both sides if some store offered some green bean deals. Neofelis might have been lamenting this as opposed to making an attack. Don't take it personally.

When was the last green bean deal here? Answer: never. Ergo an opportunity for the sellers and an opportunity for the buyers

        • @Mobe1969:
Hi Mobe, never thought about it as an attack, i was just confused. And I also it would be more appropriate if such request or inquiry be expressed through our mailing system, not into this particular deal as that can confuse people as that is a separate issue.

Infact, I appreciate the input and will surely consider the deal on greens. One thing to note that the price of world market greens have increased rapidly in few months. It is quite hard to do deals on greens unless customers are willing to purchase in excess of 5-10 kg. And usually customers in Oz Bargain expect free shipping, in which, something impossible to do with greens.
          Regards
          Ivan

Grow up please. The deal is what's being offered… Purchase or move on!

I usually prefer richly flavoured espresso with milk - about a 1:1 ratio. Often go for a "mocha" style bean/roast. Based on your beans currently available (or any coming online in time for delivery by Christmas, Melbourne), what would you recommend?

    • +2

So you want something chocolatey, rich intense body, try our Brazil ouro verde and Malabar you can even blend yourself for some fun :) Oh by the way our xmas blend is awesome for milk base too :) and best part is you get it for free as a bonus!

  • paypal link is not working

    • got it working now

      • Got yours thank you!

    • +1

try to do check out not straight paypal express, they are doing maintenance now. We just received 2 successfull order and payments just now.

  • Am new to grinding and dripping own coffee. So just a green bean question: I've seen that you don't really need a proper roaster, you can just do it on stove top and oven.

Is it really necessary to get a device to turn them? I got my hand to shake the pan bro!

    • +5

if you have a frying pan and a stainless steel bowl, put the bowl upside down on the frying pan, heat the pan (with handle) then when the pan is heated up, lower the flame, throw in the beans, cover them with the stainless bowl then move around the pan (hold the handle) vigorously, increase the flame up a little, then you will hear crack, lower the flame to the lowest keep agitating the pan, wait till the first crack rolls (till you hear one or two pops) then wait further 30-40 seconds then dump the bean into collander. This is trial and error, experience is the key :)

PS: you might wanna hold the bowl so it doesnt fly off :) use some heat resistant glove or something to hold the bowl. you can modify the bowl by drilling and installing a knob so you can hold the knob while agitating the frying pan. I have a friend who roast 100 gram coffee with this method and he roast awesome tasty coffee

      • +1

        Woh instructions! SOLD!

        Very kind mate. Must order.

Got one of those big red silicone mitts. That'll do the trick. Until I get a nice big handled lid for the stainless pan (or wok if they make those in SS).

        • +4

mate, its like cooking…experience is the key
If you re feeling handy, drill another hole on the stainless steel bowl that you put upside down, then jam in an oven thermometer or if you feelin fancy, get a multimeter with thermo couple (thermo probe or whatever its called, hints: ebay has lots of em), then you can read the temp.

Pre heat the inside till about 130-150
Then roast! Take note ! use same batch every time. Find me on ebay, read my blog there. (user id: sweetyarragourmetcoffee)

        • I just want to add alongside the ripper manual instructions already posted, that Target and Kmart are each selling popcorn roasters for $12/$15 that are quite capable coffee roasters, if you're interested in giving that a go.

Roasting coffee, as it turns out, is a bunch of fun.

        • @LaTerrible:
          There you go:)

Watch it tho when using the popcorn the heat is almost instantly and over roast easily occur, start small batch with this one 20-30 grams. It will be quite hard to hear the cracks. Please go to our ebay store for selections of green beans.

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

It's pretty hard to drill into stainless but a thin cheapish bowl is doable and certainly with an oil spray bottle and very sharp good bit will succeed.

I certainly do need to gain more experience cooking, and learning it is half the fun.

Will add a thermocouple to multimeter. Was going to get the analog probe one I saw on that sweetmaria site.

        • @LaTerrible: Yes and smells great too. Who needs those silly wall socket artificial perfumes?

Not only is DIY fun but satisfying and good for mental health to learn new things/skills.

It is a bit like popcorn, love that too. Only thing is you couldn't really mix the too. Coffee popcorn might be cool, but not corny salty buttery coffee ;-p

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

How consistent are the bean colours with this? I've been researching methods for non machine roasing, and all the pics and vids give very uneven colour of the roasted beans, which to me isn't a good sign.

I am tempted to give this a go. If you get cuban beans in again, I'll buy a bag from you and try roasting them!

        • @Mobe1969:
          will let you know mobe

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

          Thanks

What was the bean colour consistency like with this above pan roast idea?

        • +1

          @Mobe1969:
depends on your experience, type of pan used etc. Generally its not as consitent as a more proper roater but the most important is the taste mate, u worry too much ;)

  • I have always bought from manna beans. Has anyone else bought from this roaster before and if so what was it like?

I have tried a few local roasters (Adelaide) and been really unimpressed compared to Manna

    • only one thing to find out, try our coffee before the deal expired. :)
We have 99% happy customers so far and most of them are regular and repeat customers (doesnt include our bulk cafe clients), but again what is nice for me maybe not for you…

So if you happen to try our coffee, one thing for sure we are always happy and proud to roast them for you. And sincerely hope your feeling is mutual.

      • Thanks - have bought some to give a try.

        • Thank you !

  • Thanks OP. Ordered.

    • much appreciated

  • Another tip for buying massive amounts of coffee grounds, buy in 4x 500g packs and freeze the ones you aren't using. Will extend shelf life from approx 2 to around 8 - 12 weeks.

http://www.home-barista.com/store-coffee-in-freezer-conclusi… (not the only source but one of the most detailed)

    • +1

I have heard about freezing, and tried it some time, but I ended up stop doing that. It just seemed to loose all aroma.

  • De-gas before shipping?
Does that mean beans will not be in valved bags?

    • +1

it simply means we need to let it rest so the CO2 gas diccipate from the coffee before we seal the bags. They are packed in valved bags of course. We can seal it right away in valved bag but resting it is quicker

  • Tanzania is now sold out and out of stock, back wednesday next week
