A 'cheap' monster HDMI cable. Yes - they probably are no better than any other HDMI cable, but if anyone likes brand names - well, here you go - its a lot cheaper than they normally are.

God there must be some bloody suckers out there, $399 for a $5 cable? HA. Even $39 is a bit of a joke.

"The MONSTER is back, bigger, faster and bester!".

Bester is a perfectly cromulent word.

Petty I know but I just had to get in there.

    • You're just trying to embiggen yourself in the eyes of fellow OzBargainers, aren't you PlowDude? ;) ;)

      Petty,, never.
      Didactic,, perhaps.
      Oh and BTW, pedantry rulez!!

  • $48 included shipping, can find cheaper price, newer model everywhere in Ebay, have to say, not a bester deal.

    • more likely to be genuine ones than ebay though

I have one of these. I also have cables from www.ezyhd.com.au. Can't tell a difference, and I even have a 15m EZYHD cable that works flawlessly over 1080p/24hz.

    • Actually my ezyhd one broke (one of the ends came loose and picture and sound was cutting out) but my other cheap ones (which costed less than ezyhd) are actually working fine. I wouldn't recommend ezyhd but the other ones that have been posted here work fine as. I agree, wouldn't pay more than 25 bucks for a cable like this when they pretty much all do the same job.

EDIT: After some thought, I just wanted to say that although I do feel a Monster cable is a rip off, this is the cheapest we have seen them at so for me, I think it classifies as a bargain if you're after a monster cable. If you're after just the cheapest HDMI cable that will do the job (generally what I and most others are after) then this isn't for you.

      not really

"Judging from these results, I would have to reiterate my original position, that it’s best to skimp at short distances, but you don’t want to be caught with the wrong cable installed in your walls. Even with the projector, it might be smart to buy a $30 cable first and see if it works, but be prepared, when upgrading your gear, to upgrade the cable too. Does it have to be Monster? Hell no, but you might have to pay something close to a Monster-sized price."

Summary: Short distances, it doesn't make a difference. long distances, in the future, it might make a difference.

EDIT: im voting neg because a $5 HDMI Cable provides the same signal quality as this 2.6m "monster" cable

      1) At short distances up to 6ft (2 meters), you can pretty much get away with any cable.

Thats enough for most people to ignore this one.
No amount of "quality" can justify that ridiculous price markup.

  • lol… so many hyperbolic terms there.. they even re-invented the HD definition: HIGHEST DEFINITON :) .. lol ..

    No deal

    Monster HDMI = Nobrainer
    generic 5M HDMI Cable = $10

  • +1

you gotta respect Monster for their desperation…neg vote for me for a 2.6m Monster cable…anything below 10m from Monster is automatically NOT a bargain in my books, I reckon. Unless it's free…

  • +2

same thing without the bling is about 8x cheaper still. and to me this confirms how much of a ripoff the original price was!

  • +2

I posted this "bargain" a while ago.
It was also shot down with negatives.
Ozstock have had this deal on a couple times so for them, people must be buying.

    • +1

or people are not buying them, and they're still trying to get rid of them ;)

      • +1

I think that quantocks and his work buddy will prove you wrong :P

  • +1

I bought two. Guy at work bought 10. said he has bought cheap cables but if you have a 5k TV, why would you skimp on a shitty moulded cable that will fall apart/break/be known for interference, etc.

Monster is quality product. Even if you can't see a huge difference.

    • scientific proof isn't enough?

  • because gold plated cables make the signal run faster
