Every time I see a groupon deal submitted to this site, I am going to remind people to be careful dealing with this company. In the unlikely event they do sell you a voucher code that doesn't work, don't expect their after sale support to rectify the issue for you, and instead expect them to tell you anything they can to get rid of you. This mob will keep saying they need to investigate the issue and won't refund you. They even go to the lengths of lying to you by saying don't worry about the expiry date, they'll extend it or give refund after the investigation. As soon as it does pass the expiry date they'll inform you that it must have slipped your mind, even though they are supposedly investigating it… Paypal won't help you neither, even though I submitted a claim before the expiry, supposedly paypal won't refund vouchers.

And you can read my post here on a previous deal, and please note the date as it was before the expiry of the voucher.

As far as I concerned this scamming company deserves all the negative publicity I can muster. I gave them over a $1000 last month and they decide to try and rip me off for $80.

  • Use https://www.cashrewards.com.au and search Woolworths, and go to the Woolworths store direct and deal with Woolworths direct, not even, https://www.cashrewards.com.au.

  • So is an ecard pretty. Much the same, but is just not physical … I wonder why there are 2 'cards' doing the same thing? Please explain :)

  • I actually also contacted Groupon directly, just to ascertain if they support the actions of Groupon Australia, and if they do I know to no longer deal with any of their name sakes either and to inform others the risks of dealing with such an organisation. I am waiting for their response.

It would be completely different if I never contacted them and just allowed the voucher to expire on its own accord, but you'd think that Groupon with all the emails, correspondence with Paypal and the fact that they'd told me they'd refund me after the investigation, would just pay up the small amount they'd ripped me off. I just don't understand the logic with this company, they piss off a few people for a small gain in the short term and now I'll make every attempt to warn others, surely in the long term that'll cost them more in future sales than the $80 they kept.

Ronnie, I am also having major problems with Groupon and have a PayPal dispute lodged (by your comments it doesn't look hopeful I will be reimbursed!)

Purchased the NSW Woolworths $100 online voucher for $80…live in far north NSW (Byron Bay) so presumed it would be plain sailing! NOT…seems that Byron Bay is in Woolworths region 9 which makes it part of QLD….hence my NSW voucher didn't work (tried to explain this to them)…shame I didn't wait a week and purchase the statewide vouchers for same!

Everytime I rang them they either fobbed me off to Woolworths (who fobbed my back onto Groupon) and then I was always reassured that YES they will issue me a refund…even had to send them a screenshot of the error message when I tried to apply it to an online shop….a couple of days later I would receive an email saying they rejected my claim!

How freakin hard would it have been for them to cancel my voucher and just issue me with the statewide one…morons!!

    • Yeah that's what I suspect they did with me, sent me a code that was for the nsw/victoria deal, despite the fact I purchased the voucher after it became a nationwide deal. Any how my advice to you adele is try lodging a dispute with your bank, PayPal unfortunately won't help with vouchers.

      • PayPal supposedly supposed to give me an answer by 6th January….so if that is a negative I will certainly be contacting my credit card company…thanks.

  • Any idea how long it takes to get emailed the gift card after purchasing it from groupon?

I only ordered this because I had some groupon credit and they have nothing else of value. Will be glad to unsubscribe from their useless emails.

A few days when I ordered mine.

Interesting. I ordered mine on the 20th. Still nothing yet. I have done this before from groupon and it was basically instant. It does say 2-4 business days and I suppose today is only the 3rd business day.
