no FreeviewPlus according to reviews ???

    • +4

      did you read specs?
Yes :) The site displays it so whether it has arrived after those reviews or will be arriving soon it is clearly going to have it but then most will soon anyway :) But to be honest I personally couldn't give a rats about it :)

      • Magic Remote Voice

        optional extra apparently…

        • You'd never use it, seriously

        • +1

          @shaunpud:

          probably not…

just need to decide whether it's worth paying 2K more for UHD ???

        • +1

@jv: IMO it isn't worth paying for it yet. There just isn't content out yet. By the time the content is out, UHD TVs will be both a lot cheaper and a lot better.

I would actually almost guarantee that by the time there is enough UHD content out to warrant buying a TV, a new UHD tv will be more than $1119 cheaper than this TV costs. That means you can buy this today, then in a few years if you want to upgrade to UHD, you can buy one and not have spent more money. (As well as having two TVs :) )

    • FVP is overrated anyhoo! I've got the 50" STV and its slow as dogs balls (well, it's slow) and rarely use it.

Jv I know you already know this if you have been on this site at all in the past week, are you trying to out do me on comments this month lol

      • -4

        if i did, i wouldn't have asked…

haven't been online much the last few days.

        Nevermind…

You guys seriously post shite to get more comments for the month?

        • +3

Lol No I don't. I post comments to help others on Oz, usually cause I post so many deals and have to answer questions :)

        • +1

JVs posts are like peanuts in a bag of cheap mixed nuts. They're actually pretty good but by god there's so many of them, and you have to sift through them to get to something of better quality. At the end of the day they're just filler to increase volume.

At the end of the day, a new day begins…

Couldn't have said it better myself…

        • Shaun you should read the post about people updated others' posts. Shite gets personal round here.

Hi guys, don't mind me - just trying to increase my comments count.

        • +1

          @muncan:
          Err, who's that behind you?

Okay, I admit I just try to start a meaningless and off-topic discussion to increase my comment counts as well lol

        • @sheepy: Behind every great man there's a woman (rolling her eyes)

  • Anyone done research on this vs Sony 60w600 @ $1333 DSE - 10% = $1200.

I prefer Sony than LG. Theres so many LG 2nds and refurbished it concerns me. Whereas theres no where near as many Sony being sold as 2nd/refurbs.

    • It's not bad but wouldn't buy it over this model

    • LG is one of an increasingly diminishing number of manufacturers that still make their own panels - unlike Sony. Let your eyes do the testing at the end of the day! As much as it hurts me to say this, but LG have some of the better panels out there (especially their UHD range). Compare LG panels to Samsung, Panasonic, or Sharp (who all manufacture their own panels) and look at the contrast levels for blacks plus any other criteria that is important to you and then make your decision.

    • Along the same lines. I'm tossing up between this and The Sony KDL60W850B
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…
Putting aside the price difference, is the LG still favoured?

      • No the Sony one kills this one if you not worried about price :) Said to be the best model made by Sony the 850, should be able to get it cheaper than that though, check GG Ebay and DSE Ebay

        • thanks Trent :)
I'm thinking of hitting boxing day sales as have been told they're pretty good in the past (no reason experience with them myself).
          Will keep and eye out!

        • you're correct BTW, $1435 with discount at GG ebay store :)

  • For those who are interested in the smart aspect of the TV this model uses last years Lg Smart TV interface, not this years LG WEB OS which is much more advanced & a lot faster & works very well with the magic remote. The TV is still good value for many, but so that everyone is aware this model has gone as low as $1095 on sale in Queensland at The Good guys, still not a bad deal, great work TRENT86.

    • Yeah webos a nice feature, which model was 1095?

      • Sorry TRENT86, the 60LB5820, normally retails at $1289 at The Good Guys, they had a 15% off sale to combat JB Hi Fi, which brought it down to $1095

        • I think it's a little more than that, otherwise places like videopro (who beat any price) and binglee would have a permanent price around that but theirs is around or over $1399, i guess we will see in a few days :)

        • I know this TRENT86 because I used to work for the The Good Guys, and that was the ticketed price we had in store on that model, and no it wasn't a promotional price, having said that we did got a large number of stock in at that time, this was back in November. But don't get me wrong this is still a good deal.

        • +1

@ETB: Yeah i see where your coming from I'm just amazed then that video pro isn't matching it because they are normally spot on
I still can't forget The 55" 6500 for $850 which was the best deal I think on LG TV'S and would kill this deal big time if it was still on :)

        • Yes that was a great buy, I was amazed that we had ticketed at a very low price in store, & with that Ebay weekend promotion that made it even cheaper again. The 60LB6500 is a nice telly. Not sure about Video pro, but the The Good guys normally checks other retailers prices online & so on twice a day and adjust them in the system so that they are cheapest.

        • @TRENT86:

I was going to buy that 55" deal but found that the viewing angle is a lot better on the 60" panel using the built in Picture Wizard brightness test pattern on both.

The mother in law has a webos one with magic remote and I find the process of playing wii pointing to use the TV a complete pain in the ass. Some things I guess might be good. Like when you use I view. I couldn't imagine the look an an 90 year olds face when you hand them that magic remote. It would probably end up in the microwave.

      • I saw in some US version reviews the LG TVs came with standard old style remote AND the magic remote. Not sure if its the same here. Anyone confirm?

        • +1

This tv does not come with a magic remote. It comes with your standard telly remote which makes 'smart' not as fun to play with.

The 3D version comes with the magic remote. You'll get used to it very soon.

  • My closest store (Hobart) says it's out of stock. Does anyone know whether I can still choose pick up and have them ship one to their Hobart branch? Or am I just gonna have to pay for delivery?

    • +1

You can try get them to transfer one to your store, i don't see why they would charge you delivery though.

  • +1

I've been hanging out for an affordable 60 inch TV for a while now. Now it's finally time to man up and come up with another excuse as to why I won't buy one :)

  • Is this tv good for gaming from consoles and pc?

    • Great for Gaming dual core and 100hz don't know much about using them for Pc's though so can't comment on that :)

  • i was worried about the weight of the Sony in the end, 10kg+ more! So i bought this one, thanks TRENT86!

    • OMG Really 10kg! That's a big difference

      • yep, we were also looking at a 65" kogan thing and it weighed 47kg! which is double the weight!
Want to be giving some thought to the furniture you're sitting it on.
